their is no debtors prison, and you can only go to jail for fraudulant checks if tgey werent post dated. post dated checks are considered extension of loan. she is a scam artist that violated fair debt collection practices act by even saying anything other than we will hand it over to the courts. payday loans use post dated checks so you cant go to jail for fraud, but you can be sued for a civil, but not criminal act. mrs. stokes got irate. its called blackmail to pay money to someone, and not have the right to challenge them. its also blackmail.

I have been receiving calls for over 5 years on this matter.  The first company that began the calls was a scam.  My daughter paid back the loan  for more than three times the original amount, yet she and I keep getting these calls!  They were hoping that a young girl would be frightened enough to pay again. They said she would be arrested when these calls first started.  So maybe you should check with the company you are supposedly working for and check to see if these are debts still owed.

I agree with the above post.  This company is trying to use intimidation.  However, I have yet to see a summons, bill or anything for that matter.  If the company doing the so called "collecting" was legit, then they would be able to find you even if you are a "needle in a haystack".  Know your rights as a consumer.  During these times many fall on hard times and I don't think anyone intentionally doesn't pay a debt.  Don't let the harassers scare you by any means.

Where is this company located?

I am just wondering if any one of you that have posted on here have actually had any further actions taken against you?  I had my landlord show up today with this number written down. He said they just called his home phone and left a message threatening to take me to court!  I have not received any calls from this number myself. They also said that they contacted my employer, but I do not have an employer.  My landlord didn't get a name in the message.

Just received a call from this number and the caller was female who did not identify herself.  She was calling for an employee of the company I work for stating she has tried to reach this person on his cell, work phone and email address with no success.  I asked her "is this a personal business call", she replied yes and she said that's ok, I'm just going to start the court order process for debt he owes".  I said, "Ok".  Why she felt she had to disclose to me (the receptionist) what her intents are I don't know.  Sad, very sad.  My thoughts were, sounds like a personal problem to me she has.  I suppose she wanted me to tell the employee what she said as an intimidation tactic.

i ask this person to send mail do not call my job number. I hung up the phone and they continue to ring the job number of which i ignored. Now this is harrarssment. If your going to serve some one just do it. And stop the harrassment.

A "REAL" debt collection agency would never ask you for your name, address, & phone number. They have it. You would also have been sent a letter with their name, address, & phone number on the letterhead. It would explain the debt, how much, who it was with, & how much you owe now. You then have the right to dispute it. And by the way "Pre Legal Department"??? What is that?

To Martin Green, a legitimate company wouldn't  be scouring the blogs in reference to your SCAM company. If you are "so call" legal why do you ask for personal information so that you can serve papers. You as a legal company should have that info on file. Do yourself a favor and get a real job, I for one am not scared of you and call me again you gonna hear a few choice words that you probably will have to cover your ears...

I got a call from them today.  As for your comment Mr. Green, I highly doubt that the pre-legal department would be searching the internet to see what folks are saying about your scam, I mean company.  I get one of these phone calls about once a month and at no time have I ever gotten severed any papers of any kind for any reason.

However, Mr. Green, which by-the-way is like saying you are Mr. Smith, Mr. Jones, or Mr. Johnson; I would expect someone who works in a law office to be able to correctly hyphenate a word, use proper punctuation and in fact openly acknowledge your firms desire to sue, as opposed to settle out of court.

We are the Pre Legal department of the company mentioned in this blog. Serving you a summons and taking you to court to enforce our clients legal right to recoup the monies stolen from them is neither a scam nor is it illegal. Every one of you on this blog took a loan and subsequently closed your bank account in order to block the original creditor from withdrawing funds that you are legally obligated to pay back. This is fraud by it's very definition. As we have no intention of collecting a debt we are not in violation of any federal law in notifying you of our intentions to bring civil and or possible criminal charges against you. She is a 3rd party or fraudulent debt collector using illegal (and OLD) intimidation tactics. Her use of these ploys virtually guarantees that her claims are invalid or completely bogus. If you speak with her, DEMAND written, verifiable proof of her claim be mailed to you. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal law. When she refuses, she has proven herself to be a fraud.

Just got a voicemail at work from Ms. Williams stating she is with the law firm of Coakley & Associates and it is imperative that I call her back today or face court.  She was rude and sounded like she was sucking in air

Called my employers #. Gave way too much information to be a legal debt collector. What's even more funny is that this so called debt collector never called my personal cell phone. Just my employers #.

I got a rude woman name Ms. Williams that did not want to speak with me after I told her I'm contacting BBB.

Mrs. Williams called stating she was collecting a debt owed from a previous payment arrangements with a payday loan company and that if not paid would have me served with papers and arrested.

another # to add to collection of #s that calls for another person's debt or scam or whatever! make them stop or go to jail!!!!!!!!
