I recieved a voice mail from a private number. The man was looking for someone i never heard of saying he recieved documents with their name and social security number on it. He said he would be at their home or work on Thursday to deliver a summons and for them to be home with 2 forms of identification and left the 8555783468 and a case number for them to call. First of all call the correct person, and i work for a law firm and fdcpa protects all consumers. Swanson Walker & Associates are a 3rd party don't have a license to collect debt. Federal fair debt collection pratices act statute protects people from harassing collection agencies. This person and all of you can have a lawyer to send them a cease and desist lettet so they can't contact you. If they violate the fdcpa you can sue for actual damages statutory damages for each violation. They are not supose to threaten you, and if your work place prohibits calls and visitors of collections or on behalf of them which mostly all do you can sue. What they are doing is against the law. Know your rights thats why i work for a lawyer .

Clarification.. Was on the phone today with multiple people. I first called the above number back and spoke with a nice lady by the name of "Ms Pearson". Getting a physical address from where they were calling was impossible however. Ms Pearson was frustrated by the fact that I refused to give out my SSN and informed me that "your case will be forwarded to the fraud department" and promptly hung up. I called back and asked who i was speaking with, and the person I then spoke with informed me that I was speaking with the claims department of "the walker firm". To my knowledge the nice lady did not give me her name (kinda not relevant to this note anyways). I was informed that I could not get any information until I verified my ID. I'll admit I had her pissed off, due to not wanting to release my information, as I was told "I don't have time to play these games".

Cant knock her for that, per the FDCPA she couldn't provide info about my account without losing her job. However, the FDCPA says nothing about needing to verify identity before the location of the debt collector can be disclosed. I wasn't even able to get a state of operation other than "we are not in your state". When I asked to have my debt verified I was told to call Wells Fargo for that information. I then specifically asked for dates of the account, to which I was provided the information, (which doesn't show up in any credit report of mine) On this call I was informed that they do not have a website and that I wasn't going to get a physical address from them.

I called Wells Fargo after hanging up the phone and spoke first with a Steven who was unable to find any information related to an account of any kind with me. I was then transferred to a lady by the name of Theresa who was able to find an account I had when I was a kid that had been closed in 2000. No other account information was found.

At this time I called the Department of Commerce to see if they knew who this "Walker Firm" was in regards to debt collection. I was connected to a very helpful lady in licensing who was unable to find any debt collection agency or entity licensed to operate in my state that had the word Walker in it. I was then transferred to the enforcement division and spoke with a gentleman who searched for the number and name and made his own conclusion that it may be Swanson Walker and Associates. I gave him all the lack of info I had and he stated he would open a file and see what could be done with what little they had.

I called the above number back to inform them that I had spoken with Wells Fargo and no such debt was found by them. Initially by the first guy that answered I was told that my information had been pulled from the system, and that I'd need to wait so he could find someone to figure out what is going on. Why was it pulled from the system? I was then placed on hold until the lady I spoke with on the previous call had presumably finished a different call. I then informed her that I had spoken with Wells Fargo and that they were unable to find any such debt on their end. She informed me that she too had contacted Wells Fargo and that they were the ones that had provided them the information. I then asked what her company's license number was so I could verify who they were. I was informed that they don't have, and don't need a license to collect debt. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor when she informed me that she is the supervisor. I asked her if there was anyone above her, she replied "No". I then asked if she was the one who signs the paychecks I had also stated that "I don't believe this debt is mine, but that I no longer wish to speak with them" before asking how the debt could be settled. I was informed that my only options were Debit, Credit, or Prepaid card over the phone. I asked if I could mail a check, or drop by a physical location to conduct the payment and was told the only acceptable payment is over the phone. During the call the lady informed me that they have done their due diligence and have nothing further concerning me as I've already made an online "dispute" against them. Not knowing what she was referring to I asked her to clarify, when she stated that the dispute was made on this site. I verified that I had in fact made a post on this site concerning the number, but referencing Swanson Walker and Associates. I then asked her if she was implying that Swanson Walker and Associates is who she is representing when she stated I made a "dispute" against them online. She replied no, that she has no idea who Swanson Walker and Associates are and that all the information I need to continue with a dispute was on the above post concerning this number.

What debt collection agency or any other entity of any kind engaged in collecting debt for a third party does not require to be licensed in the state they are doing business in?

I finally called an 855 number that was directly associated with Swanson Walker & Associates and asked for James Machol. I was informed by the person who answered that he isn't sure about a James Machol working for them, but there was a James Michael. He put me on hold to see if Mr Michael was familiar with me. Once the initial person returned to the line I was informed that Mr. Michael was familiar with me, and I was transferred. Once Mr Michael was on the phone I immediately recognized him to be the same James Machol who had left the message on my room mate's phone.

Noobs.

On 7/29/13 I received a call from this number today by a person stating his name was James Machol. I erroneously answered the call from my phone (which came up as PRIVATE NUMBER) and I told them they had the wrong number. I was talking to my room mate about the call later in the day when he had informed me that he had also received a call from the same person looking for me as well. I listened to the voicemail that James Machol had left on my room mate's phone and he was stating that he was trying to inform me that there was a case that was forwarded to him and that he wanted me to know that he was going to have someone serve me a certified notice of intent on Wednesday (tomorrow).

After looking up all the info I could I found only one listing with this number by a user on 7/23. using the information gained from that post I dug further and found the number to belong to Swanson Walker and Associates which appears to be a debt collection firm of some kind.

I'm not sure what exactly it is that they are looking for just yet, as I called them back and was sent straight to voicemail.

Anyone have any further info about this number or the company?
