Got a call from (505) 359-2367 on my voicemail it says it's LMI. I called the the local number and its not anywhere close to being this LMI. They use local numbers and give you an 855 number to call back. They are so rude and refuse to give you any information.  Don't give them any bank information. Scam artists!

I just received a call from 630-423-8701 (Illinois #) asking to hit "0" when the person asked for was on the line, which was me. I hit "0" and the phone disconnected several times. Finally I called the number back and spoke to a woman who said she was representing LMI Legal Services about an outstanding debt. She had the last four digits of my social, my cell number and what bank we use. The debt was calling about was settle with another company and when I told her that she claimed they had no record it. I gave her the company's number, the person I worked with, and the account number and told her to work with them. She became very hostile and "hung" up. I called the number back and it went to voice mail. I left a message stating that I would file a complaint with the Illinois State's Attorney's office. I have since found, via the internet, that many people have had problems with this same company (LMI), and that it's a SCAM.

Caller ID comes up as Natioanl Paymnet.  Very fishy and has scam written all over it.

Be careful people.  These are scammers which I found out first-hand.  They gave me their name as Loan Mediation, threatened me with felony charges, scared the heck out of me and I was dumb enough to fall for it. I gave my information and my account was debited immediately for $260.  The money was actually paid to Mjollnir Group in Utah.  I closed my account, have documented everything and have filed with the Wisconsin Financial Institution and my attorney general.  These guys use horrible tactics while breaking every regulation of the FDCPA.  They use "switch Hobbyists" methods when calling so you believe they are local.  They are difficult to find and cannot even locate them under the BBB.  Even after closing my account they call me every day, sometimes every hour because they want more money and they know they are hard to track down.  Scamming SCUM!!!!!

I've worked in the legitimate collection industry for years now and know the ins and the outs of the laws very well. I also received this call. This is not a legitimate ACA licensed or federally regulated collection agency. They are a criminal organization that is trying to get financial info from people. The specific laws on debt collection vary from state to state, but in all states now, any collection agency that leaves a voice message must first ID themselves on a personal level, ID who the message is for, warn you first that they are about to disclose your personal information so you dont listen to the message in the presence of someone who you wouldnt regularly share these matters with and then must id their specific company, the legally required mini miranda (this is an attempt to collect a debt by a debt collector any info obtained is used for that purpose) and then a call back #. The fact that they try to use coercion on the message (we will submit to our client without your statement) is a direct violation of the FDCPA. The nature of the message they are leaving gives away that they aren't legit. Also, there are no criminal charges than be levied against a person in the U.S. for non payment of consumer debts. A judge can find you in contempt for not paying an agreed upon payment plan AFTER it goes to court t become a judgement. It has happened, but it's rare and you really have to be a piece of work to get hit with that. These f****rs have been calling me for years. I've called the FTC, I've tried to block their #'s through my phone company, I've even got on the phne with them and pretended I was going to pay up and gave them an expired card.I've tracked down the telecommunications company that relays their calls in my state, but they keep shifting #'s so no hit on a good address. How they get peoples info is by setting up an algorithm on legitimate (so to speak) cash loan web sites. If you fill out the online app, it copies your information as far as contact info goes and probably cross referenced it with another data mining site such as Accurint, TLO, Innovis, to get your D.L. #. In most cases, the common link is that everyone that has been contacted, at least applied for some sort of cash loan online or someone did it using your information without your knowledge. They use a bogus cash loan company name that changes slightly from call to call, because most of those online cash loan places have similar names but are under the umbrella of a larger finance company. I foolishly applied for one in 2011 and they've been calling me since. I closed my bank accounts and opened new ones, monitor my credit report for fraud and don't respond to their messages or their calls. It's about all you can do. FTC can't do s*** because this company isn't regulated by them because it's not a legitimate business. If it were, they could be sued for their automated voice message alone not to mention the the never ending list of violations that occur if you actually talk to one of these snake charmers. Hope that helps ease your mind. So far I haven't had any thing occur as far as fraud with my ID info they have because they're smart enough to know that would warrant an actual criminal investigation that could leave a trail. If they get people to willingly respond to their calls by giving up banking info, then it's harder to pursue because the person willingly authorized the charges, but that has it's own separate grey area of legalities. If it's any solace, I did have one of these clowns swearing at the top of his lungs at me and sound like he was going to s*** his pants.

Received a call at work from 855-597-4550 wanting to verify employment of someone I had never heard of. When I asked Me. Smith who he represented, he said "LMI". When pressed, he let me know that LMI stood for Load Mediation Incorporated. If the loan in in remediation, why would he need to verify employment. He sighed when I asked him.  He did have a lot of personal information about the individual.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I received a call from this man by the name of James Cox he is an american man. He said that he is with Loan Mediation. He said that I he was trying to collect a debt that I owed. I asked what was the acccount number that he is referring to. He could not provide me with this information. He said that this is for an unpaid loan with CASH NOW. I have never heard of these people. When I asked when did I get this loan and he said in February 2011. I said what was the specific date and how much was the loan. He couldn't provide me with that information either. The weirdest thing is this guy has all of my very important information and he said that I owed them money. If he knows all of my info why haven't these people taken the money. I believe someone sold this company our information. They know too much about you and if you oh then and they have all of your info. Why didn't they take what you owe. This is a scam and I have reported to my bank and employer.

This is a loan mediation company calling from 630-423-8701 attempting to collect a fake debt. To speak to a representitive press 1 or call back 855-597-4550. I have had way too many people call with a scam I am not calling back. I am so pissed that people are able to do this legally just makes no sense to me. I know some people that were terrified and they paid it with no recourse to get their money back. It appears they use an used phone number from your area in hopes you answer. Are we not hurting bad enough finacially? The government has shut down for goodness sake what else will happen.
