My personal opinion ...you work for them, but IF YOU ARE TELLING THE TRUTH THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU PAYBACK YOUR LOAN?

These people called me back in 2010 saying I owed California Budget Finance $802, which I did back in 2005.  They threatened me with jail time, felony, lawsuit, and I dont know what else.  I ended paying the money in monthly installments.  I remember speaking to a Jim Dale he was really nice and all and it didnt seem weired to me at all.  The thing is that yesterday I received a call saying that they were coming to my house to serve me because I was being served by Westwood Management and that if I didnt pay them they would proceed.  That got me thinking and I decided to call Cole Tanner and Wright and this man answered and he said that this was his perosnal cell phone and that hes had this number for about five months. So I looked for the correct number online and they said that Jim Dale was let go because of fraudulent activity and that they dont have any information about my case and that they never ever worked with California Budget.  Another weird thing is that as I was looking thru my records I found another letter from another company that was mailed to me in November of 2010 also claiming that I owed California Budget, that company was Thomas Dixon and Associates. I tried calling them and the numbers are NON WORKING and there website has been deleted.  I guess at that moment I didnt realize that it was the same debt that I was paying two different companies.  I cant believe I was sooooo stupid to pay these people about $2000.  I wish I could get my money back.  Ive been doing my homework thanks to the call I got yesterday and I will NEVER fall for this again. Now I realize that this is all a BIG FAT SCAM!!!!!

I got a call from this number as well as 832 754-0733 (my caller id says: Raquel Rodriguez)
They left me a voice mail from that number. Called me twice within an hr with 2 different number. as if I would answer to a number I didnt know. My motto leave a message/ via text. If your important ill call you back.

It was a blk dude who left the voice mail, says he was liaison etc etc,  was it suppose to intimidate the receiver? They ask for a person I didnt know. said it was inference to a Kristal and that she need to contact them asap ya yaya i dunno.  Btw a** hoes YOU GOT THE WRONG NUMBER!! STOP CALLING DO***E BAGS!

Funny you say Cole, Tanner & Wright. The people that called for my sister were Goldman & Schwartz. So you must work for them too ...lol. Funny that you people think when a call comes from acro9ss the country a person wont investigate it themselves!

This same company has been calling my house...  They have called my great aunts house and my mother in laws house which is against the law.  The fact that they are threatening to arrest people is against the law.  DO NOT TALK TO THEM BECAUSE MOST LIKELY THE STATUE OF LIMITATIONS ARE PASSED ON THIS DEBT BUT IF YOU TALK TO THEM AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEBT THIS WILL START THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS OVER.  THEY ARE RUDE AND IGNORANT BRCAUSE I CALLED THE NUMBER BACK THAT APPEARED ON THE CALLER ID AND IT WAS A PREPAID CELL NUMBER.......

I received a call from these guys, and spoke to a "Sam" I was foolishly gonna work with them until he called me from a different company named "Goldman/Schwartz", this Sam left a cll back number for me #832-623-7740, now i've worked in collections for some time and my first question was why are you calling me from a different company line? I've worked collections for Houshold Finance and Sallie Mae! Were either gonna call you under those names or private, but NEVER falsify the companies name! The thing is, when I called that number back using *67 the first thing the person said was "hello?*, and that's when bells went off in me! Then another woman got on the phone and said this wasn't a company# BUT A PRIVATE RESIDENCE! So the next time they call, i'll make sure they send me documents showing what I owe. I would advise the same for anyone else on here.

Received a call on my personal cell phone for someone I don't know...man, Eddie Dean left a message and made it sound IMPERATIVE that this Ms whomever call back today. First of all- it they are investigators as he indicated in his voicemail- HE WOULD INVESTIGATE THE FACT that the number he just left a voicemail message for does NOT belong to a MS TAYLOR as he wants to call him back. I personally will not be calling him back as I am not the person and do not know the person he is calling for as this number he is dialing has been my number for OVER 5 years...LET HIM DO HIS JOB AND INVESTIGATE FINDING THE RIGHT NUMBER FOR THE PERSON HE IS LOOKING FOR... Scam or not he can scam someone else.. NOT ME!

I just got a call from this phone number.

this man called very rude and said i committed check fraud with a payday loan and i know for a fact that the payday loan I had, the company had already deposited my check I gave them.  Now they are claiming I owe a interest fees.  They are rude and threatening over the phone and they called my job!  i am fighting with them as I write this!

They are a debt collection agency and THEY DO NOT represent whoever you had your original loan with. Hang up on them and report them to these places:
State Attorney General's Office
Federal Trade Commission
Also, call your district attorney's office and find out what the statute of limitations is on "bad check" on payday loans in your area. There is nothing these people can do to you.

This company is not a law firm, they are debt collection agency. You must work for them...LOL!!!!! Check your morals.

these debts might be SOL,meaning past your states limit on how many years a debt is still collectable.Each state is different.It's good to know and you can ,google your state to  find out.

I received a letter also stating i owed $200.00 to advance america since 2001. On first citizens this account has been closed for years. Now they are saying because of fees and interest i owe $1200.00 and this needs to be cleared up so i don't get arrested and my license suspended. Ready some of these committs i'm going to do some homework on cole, tanner and wright.Because Mr. King said the was going to arrest me if i didn't pay them...so i'm going to investigate the investigators...thank everyone for posting this helped me alot.

i also rec.a phone call from them.investigater pam fuller.said it was a check from advance america from 2006.was for 500.00but now owed 1300.called at 130 pm and needed all of the money by 3pm or i would be arrested.have talked to the cops and an atton.i am 69 yrs.old.and was scared.but cops and atton.said this is a scam.have asked for a copy of the bill.was told accounting dept.has thatbut their VOICE MAIL was broken so she could not get it for me.my wife demanded they send a bill before any money is sent.they also had called my sister in law and told her they was going to have me arrested.so will wait for a copy of this from INVESTIGATER PAM FULLER.SO MISS PAMMY FULLERif you are reading this also i am not afraid now.and got a feeling i will win the lottery and hell will freeze over before i get my copy from.will take that long for the VOICE MAIL to get fixed. also thank all of you who have put stuuf up here.makes me feel better

I got a call from Nina Goldstein for Cole, Tanner and Wright law firm. She's states she is an investigator for the law firm in Houston, Texas and they were ready to prosecute me for a Advanced Cash pay day loan and I check I owed from 2005. She never stated the amount of the check only that they are not concerned about the check it was the fees the bank inquired for insuffient funds. She states a warrant had been sent for my arrest if I did not come up with the money today. She states I owe 1400 but will settle for 540 and she has to receive it today. So I said could you send me proof of this bill and let me get back to you. She said I need to contact a family member or friend and ask them to use a debit card to clear this up or I would be arrested and a hold would be put on my drivers license. This company sounds funny to me. I am going to contact Advanced Cash and try to get to the bottom of this. I'd much rather do business with Advance that with these people.

Since these fools have an office in Houston and not Pakistan, I would strongly suggest that all of you get friendly with the FDCPA at FTC-dot-gov. Carefully document all calls and record audio if you can. These collection tactics you're all reporting are very hostile and lawbreaking, the kind a good consumer lawyer would jump at on contingency. Else you can prep a civil complaint and solid Intent To Sue letter yourself if you're comfortable doing so or don't mind learning the ropes through forums like Credit InfoCenter and DebtorBoards.

In general, the level of histrionic behavior from a debt collector is indirectly proportioned to its actual proof of claim. I'd also agree that the all-caps 'damage control' posts here, all appearing the same day, are part of the extortion effort. Ride 'em hard and score a settlement.

This so-called "law firm" just broke federal law!!!  They called my parents' home in California, again, and left a voicemail with their phone number and some type of case number. What legitimate "law-firm" that specialises in debt collection would break federal law by leaving debt information with a third party on voice mail?  Here's their contact information below......

good luck getting a copy of the check. i asked them to mail me a copy or fax me a copy and they stated i owe the debt and they dont have to give me a copy. i notifie the police and they have send you a certified copy of a letter showing you owe the debt. this comp also was under a different name 6 months ago.

i called the police dept. myself when this comp. called me. i was told by them its a scam so stop kidding yourself and tring to protect these jerks.

Some guy named James Keane saying he's an attorney keeps calling my home # while I'm at work, asking for someone else. He's called quite a few times, but keeps leaving different extension #'s to call him back at??  Gives a case # and everything, saying the person's going to be prosecuted, etc..

Sounds very shady to me, especially with all the other comments here. They don't even have the right person! I don't even want to call the place back to let them know it's the wrong # though. :/
