Debt Collector
Got several calls from this number to both my and my step dad's phones. Case manager Connor left me a voice mail saying I took out a payday loan from an Ace Express Cash in 2009 (although he later in the convo said 2007), and that I had to pay him immediately or face going to jail. He also told my step father and sister this when he called my dad's number. Panicked and naive, I almost bought into his scare tactics, but we did a little digging and called the cash place I supposedly borrowed from, tracked the address they had on their letter of debt (which was beyond unprofessional), checked the BBB, and did a phone number look up of all 3 numbers. The loan company has never had an office in my town, and since I don't drive, I couldn't have gone elsewhere, not to mention they have NO record of me ever having a loan with them. The address lookup gave a UPS store in New York. The BBB had no record of them. And the phone look up came up with all these scam alerts. So I contacted the Attorney General and reported this. Even they said scam immediately. The debt collector has since called back screaming and throwing a tantrum saying a warrant is being issued for my non compliance, because I refuse to give them any money. And that I could just deal with it in court. We told them we knew it was a scam and that they best back off because we already talked to the Attorney General, and he said the A.G. doesn't know what they are talking about.  What the heck?

I received 3 calls, 1 at work (they wouldn't leave a voicemail), 1 on my cell, and one at my parents house.  My dad answered the phone and a "Case Investigator Connor" stated that a warrant is being issued for my arrest for check fraud, left the number 855-647-1750.  When he called my work; his name was Tom.  Contacted both the local police and the sheriff's dept and they had no records of anything to that effect.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Yes I just got 2 messages one on my cell and one at work.
Case Investigator Anderson says that I have now been served through his voice mail. He is a very intimidating man that is trying to scare me into calling this number back 855-647-1750. Does not give the company name OR what I am supposed to be served with. I believe they are scam artists and will not call them back. If anyone can give more information and validate that this is a legal company let me know. Until then I believe they are doing illegal harassment..
