Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I keep getting calls and e mails from this person listed below. The phone number is private and based out of New Jersey, yet the supposed collection outfit is from California. She states I wrote a bad check to some payday place called CashNet I had borrowed $300 from (which I didn't) a couple of years ago and will be filing charges for fraud if I don't pay 1,128.00. I said I never wrote them a check period, and she said well, we say bad check, but it was because CashNet could not get the money out of your Bank account as agreed by ACH.
If in fact a debt is legit, don't you get some kind of notice in the mail Vs sending the police to your door and haul you off and lock you up?

I just received a call from a Stephanie.  I advised that per their automated answering system, that the call is being recorded and I wanted her to know verbatim, that since the call is supposed to be recorded, make note that the numbers she has dialed is not correct and that I am not the person she is looking for and to remove my number from her list.  She was very rude and hang up in my face.  I called back and told her that she had bad telephone ettiquette to hang up on someone before they finish a phone conversation and once again asked her to remove my number and if she calls back I will consider it a form of harrassment. She hang up again.  So, just to give her a taste of her own medicine, I called back again and this time she said I was harrassing her. When the worm turns, they don't like it to they?  I may try to call her again next week...

That being said, I would be talking about the intelligence of the person who you replied to. Especially since you resorted to the antics of a child just to tell somebody they have somebody they were stuck with a number that used to belong to somebody else?

Well "Peter", it doesn't matter if the number is old or new. The fact will still remain that you & your fellow cretins are nothing but fraudulent and/or bogus debt collectors. You're just a typical WNY boiler room cubicle-clown. You put on your Walmart work attire & head to your "office" every morning. Where you will spend the next 10 hours telling lies on the phone in the hope that you can supplement that $10 an hour with a meager commission.
Do the people up there, like you, actually believe that you can come here & enter in to a debate with the regulars here? Do you think that the only people on this site are your "debtor" targets? Far better frauds than you have made that mistake. They don't try twice. They tuck their tales between their legs, whimper like the mongrel pups they are & never return again.
You can try us if you like "Peter". We'll dissect you & your outfit like a frog in an 8th grade anatomy class. We know more about fraudulent debt collection & desperate, second string JDBs than you will ever know. Preventing people from falling victim to vermin like you is laughably simple. You just tell them to know their rights as consumers under the FDCPA. As soon as they do that...you're screwed. Once they know to demand a notice of validation by mail, you're done. Your kind are left doing the only thing they can. You slowly sink, like a turd, in to the depths of a very deep cesspool.
Skeff Ett Liv!

I have received several harassing phone calls from 1-855-777-0152 ext. 393, and same company imposing as attorneys and officers from a Buffalo NY local phone number 716-817-2842. Found out to be Admin Recovery LLC, or "Edmin Recoveries" as they state in the harassing messages. The messages were not even for me, they were looking for some foreign man/name I never heard of.
The first voicemails said I had won an amazing prize, and also won the lottery and they wanted to help me obtain the winnings. They demanded I need to call them today or it would be given to someone else....extremely misleading. I looked them up, found out they're a debt collection agency using every illegal method/tactic possible and they to force innocent people to give away(pay them)/ their money for debts that they don't even owe themselves...I also found out when consumers are scammed into paying them,...this company doesn't even pay the supposed debt they owe...they pocket the money...as many websites said.
The 2nd - 5th voicemails were completely opposite. They were looking again for this guy who didn't even have an American name, that I don't know. BE ADVISED ADMIN RECOVERY LLC IS in SEVERE VIOLATION OF THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT! They told me on my voicemail all of this persons confidential information, bills details, etc. This "Debbie kapolski" said they're taking legal action against me(who isn't even the person they're looking for), that they're going to take my house and vehicles, and suspend my drivers license. I am absolutely shocked how desperate these people are to get someone's money.
They DO NOT follow any laws, and don't care who or what they're threatening.
DO NOT PAY THEM A DIME...IF YOU REALLY DO OWE A DEBT AS THEY STATE, THEY POCKET YOUR MONEY. DO NOT PAY THEM! BE CAREFUL!! RESEARCH FDCPA as I now have. These people cannot get away with this. Legal action needs to be taken against ADMIN RECOVERY LLC and the harassing woman (debra kapolski...if that is even her real name.. not just an Alias) that continues to call me, after I told her wrong # and I didn't know who she was looking for many times. This company cannot be trusted and should not be allowed to run their business in such illegal ways. I am now contacting the Attorney General and taking legal action against them! Everyone else who deals with these horrible people should do the same!

this person keeps calling my job and telling administration that we are "playing phone tag", that i am calling and leaving messages for him (Dan or Dave). I have no idea who this person is and I have never called him. I have informed Human Resources because I have been and am still experiencing the residue from identity theft.

Yea they keep calling here looking for someone that hasn't had this number in over a year and a half. I returned their calls to inform them she no longer has this number, they threatened me with an atty, due to they pull up my # and it still shows the lady their looking for..........So I called back to talk with an atty, she informed me they would NOT talk to me about a wrong #. Just like all others on here they call from a 716 number, but what this woman to call an 855 number. She was down right RUDE to me, I'm just sick to death of them calling for someone that does NOT have this number.

Two missed calls and voicemails left.  "Dan" claims not to be a collection agency but that they received a client that is wanting to go forward with legal action due to an account I supposibly opend and never paid and also regarding "hot checks"... I don't even own checks and never have.  I have a security tracker for my credit and confirms  what I already know, that I have never had an outstanding account and also confirmed with my bank that no suspicious activity has been conducted.  Ignore these retards that have nothing better to do that to stalk people by phone.

I received a call from a "Leah" and a "Mrs. Fiory" *from what you could make out over their phone etiquette; however, they both called me in California and my mother, in Montana, whereas she just recently went through a double bypass heart surgery from a heart attack prior...This pissed me off for sure knowing these people are calling whomever they choose without valid reasons nor valid phone numbers of their place of business (if any legit business negotiable)...I also am recovering from surgery and the last thing I want is some idiot who bought either my email and/or phone number attempting only to scam us hardworkers or basically just harrass the public. This particular number 855-777-0152 also made attempts in using the words "social security number" That alone was my red flag...These jerks need to be stopped 4ever.
