Debt Collector
This company is a scam.  It is a collection agency that bought your old debt for pennies on the dollar and threaten you with false litigation If you do not pay. They can't do anything and will not do anything. The Co name is Erie Acquisitions llc, which is a violation of the fdcpa to misrepresent the name of the Co.  (By using ea and associates). That is $1,000 fine that goes in your pocket. It's another $1,000 fine for threatening a fake lawsuit as well as for each other occurrence that violates the fdcpa.  File a complaint w the Attorney General office in NYS and the FTC as well as CFPB . Stop being harassed by these people and lied to and do something to help get them shut down for bad business practices. If they can't collect legal then they have no business being open.

I got another call from this number. The caller said it was EA &Associates. Once again, they were calling for another person. You cannot tell them you are not the other person if you are not there. I think I will be calling the Attorney General's office on Monday. I have had it with this bunch of jerks. They did wish the other person, "good luck".

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Called back and pretended to be clueless.

"Anthony" said he is with an arbitration firm dealing with "legal matters" such as employment verification.

They sure make a lot of calls though. Social engineered the lad into admitting they're running an auto dialer with a 99 call memory. Interesting.

I don't know what kind of scam this is.It is annoying all the same.They have not asked me for any personal info,they just want to know if I know a Vong Rajvongs,and that they are calling to negotiate a mediation.Once I said I don't know him or have any litigation matters,she said she would take me off the list.Her name was Tanya,she was polite, she gave me her ext#206 and said she was from ea and associates.I hope this settles the whole thing cause for about a year I would get computerized messages saying to call a certain lawyer regarding this Vong guy.I would call ,wanting to tell them they have the wrong number,but I only would get a voice machine.

You can't be "officially" notified of anything via phone, fax or email.  Report the caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Your callers are scammers.

I got a voice mail from some woman named Lydia Harrington. The call was for another person. She said she was from the "county" not specifing which county. She said that the call was an official notification and that a complaint had been filed against the person she was calling for. Sounds like a scam to me.

Called me regarding a debt incurred by some woman I don't know. This is at least the 8th call in the last year regarding this woman. When I called the number back the guy told me this was the first time they had called. I told him regardless, the number does not belong to this woman, hadn't in at least 6 years and, if they called me again, I would file a complaint. Told him to take this number OUT of his system....as I was talking he told me to "hold on just one God-damned second." When I objected to his language, he hung up on me.
