I got the same call today, they need to be reported

I got the exact same call today with the same threat and the same address.

To the poster above me, yes, cancel the payment.  Everything about the call is illegal.  These idiots called me and gave me some cloak and dagger crap when I simply asked the name of the company.  She put me on hold and then came back and said NCR.  When I asked what the acronym stood for she refused to tell me.

I do have a past with payday loans, but it is over thank goodness.  They didn't even have the information on the loan they were supposedly collecting.  I've reported the call to the FTC and sending them a cease and desist.  Doing a search turns up 30 complaints to the BBB, disciplinary action for operating without a license, I could go on.  Never agree to pay anyone over the phone.  It is illegal to just call someone and tell them they owe money without written proof and like other posters have said, you don't get a warning when a summons is coming.  They tell you that to scare you into paying.  Call your bank immediately.

I keep recieving a call from a Harvey Steward saying he will come to job and home to serve me. The number he gave me goes to a woman named Megan Louis. She claims Harvey Stewart does not work there. This seems like a scam. I haven't been inside Ace Cash Express in almost 2 years. I don't owe these people.

Yeah these people has been on my case for a loan back in 2005 that i forgot about. They have threaten my mom about coming to her house and going to make her go to court. My mom is disabled and they almost made my mom have a heartache for saying they are going to her house and all kinds of stuff. My loan was only 500.00 and they made it 769.00.

Sorry, but as you state, no one ever calls to tell you that you are being served.  And what they are doing is against federal and state laws.  Trouble is, these calls are placed randomly even to people who don't owe a dime, but the threat of a lawsuit makes them call and agree to send money - for whatever!  It's a damn shame that such deceitful people/companies do this kind of scare tactice for a living.  Scum.

totally doubt it - what these people are doing is against the law.  The attorneys general of most states would have their hind ends instantly.  In other words it's so much BS.

To BL - Yea I wouldn't worry about this company. I got the exact same call last week and I haven't seen anything. I also contacted our clerk's office and they have no records of any suit. Do you really think this company in GA is going to have guys all over the country driving around seriving people? Just wait it out and have them sell your case to the next collection agency.

I would say this is a scam, unless you live in the state of Georgia, where this so-called "collection agency" is located. In Georgia, it is possible they could file a suit against residents of the same state where they reside, especially in the surrounding counties (they are close to Atlanta GA). I would think they would still need a lawyer to file the lawsuit, and they would have to abide by Georgia state law as far notification of the lawsuit. If you live outside of Georgia, I would say National Check Resolution regulary engages in scare tactics, like they did with me. Called me 3 times, trying to scare me into calling them back. I filed a complaint with the federal Consumer Protection Bureau on Friday 8/24. If they contact me again, I will file a complaint with the Georgia Attorney General's Office.

Has anyone actually been served the next day like this place says?   Seems like a scam.  I answered the second time "Melissa brown" called and when I was told they would serve me tomorrow, I said that there is nothing showing in my county clerk of court records which is where it would be filed.  She told me that I would need to check it again and I said "I just checked it" and then she hung up on me.....I don't think a legitimate process server would hang up, plus I don't think they call ahead of time, even if it is private process and not sheriff

Yes, I was just listening to a voicemail received by Harvey Stewart, saying he has legal papers that he's going to be serving me with tomorrow at 12pm at my residence.  I called my county Sheriff's office and the officer informed me that the company calling is engaging in illegal harrassment and they do not have the authority to send anyone to serve me legal documents without a court order.

Yup, still haven't seen or heard anything about this.

I tried researching the company but definitely couldn't come up with as much information as you did. Kudos, even finding the CEO's traffic violations : P. So I haven't gotten any calls since the day they said they were going to come serve me. I wonder if they give up after their bluff is called, try again later and make up some other excuse on why a court date wasn't set, or sell your name to another company.

What a crock! She said yesterday she would be out to see me today. Idle threat. She calls all over the country so she just uses a scare tactic. If she shows up at my job she can't get past the front entrance. If she shows up at my job or at home later today I will call the local police to arrest her for attempted blackmail and attempted extortion, which is what they are engaged in. They are crooks. A legitimate collection agency sends a notification letter and follows the federal Fair Debt Collection Act regulations. The local sheriff's office where I live delivers notices of lawsuits filed in court and they do NOT call in advance.

Yea update since my last post. I still haven't seen any papers from this agency. Granted, they probably don't have my correct address and place of employment, but I feel as though court papers would require a current address (Which my social security number and drivers license is registered under) I did receive a call this morning but they didn't bother leaving a voicemail this time. I tried searching for any suits against me online, but was unable to find anything in my county or state courts.

In response to the person above this, please keep me updated and post tomorrow or the next day on anything that happened (Even if nothing happened). I'd like to know if they are bluffing or if they really are able to serve someone with a correct address.

Received message on cell phone and call at work saying they would serve at work, but caller ID is blocked. I hung up on the caller at work and she called me and left me a petulant message (how dare I be so rude and hang up on her!) that I have waived my rights and would be served at work. Caller on cell phone "Melissa" left a phone message for me to call back at 877-867-9855 with a case number. Said she would be out tomorow to serve me papers at work. Can't wait! They can pound salt. I would sure like to know just who these idiots are.

Been called by this number twice now. Once 4 days ago letting me know I would be served yesterday and once more today reminding me that someone will be coming to my place of residence or employment to serve my my papers. Both times the number was blocked and they left nothing more than a name, phone number, and claim number. Obviously I wasn't served yesterday, as would be a little more irate in this post, and I seriously doubt I will be served today.

I'm pretty sure they don't have my real address (As I have moved a few times since) nor my place of employment. If this company really wanted to scare people into paying they would leave at least a company name when leaving the voicemail. Since the number they give doesn't really match up to any company online, I doubt there is any validity in the whole scheme. I know for a fact that this is because of an unpaid payday loan from a few years ago.

That being said, does this debt collector have any ground to stand on in suing me? I know my file has been sold at least a few times (As every 6  months I seem to get a new company calling me telling me I'm going to be sued) and not once have they gotten a penny. Would they actually serve me papers to get money that was owed to another company 5 years ago? Also how would I tell if there is a case against me? Which office do I need to call to verify that I am not dodging anything and this thing really isn't legit.

Same scam... our answering machine recorded a call by a fast talking woman to our daughter stating that legal papers are going to be delivered to her residence or place of employment regarding a civil lawsuit... and left a number to call.. Tried calling but it was after hours and could only leave a voicemail.

I am constantly being harrasesd on my job by someone from this number. Threatning to sue me while I am working on my job.They called another day and told another employee that I work with that I have a court date tommorrow and I need to call them back immediately, at this number listed.

I called Christopher Miller at 855-672-1988 and told him what happened. He contacted them and called me back.  He told me they removed my name from their directory, and Harvey Steward has been reprimanded for not listening to me and harrassing me.  Call Christopher if you have this problem. He really helped me.

The phone number comes up private number. Voicemail left said Harvey Stewart 855-867-9855. Keeps calling for Crystal. I have told him repeatedly he has wrong phone number. He keeps calling every day 2 times a day for 7 days now. When I call the number its NCR but they wont tell me anything else. I told them Harvey Stewart is harrassing me and I am going to put in a complaint. They hang up on me. I am at my witts end.
