IDK if you got that straightened out but by law you have three days to cancel without penalty... Check the small print on your contract, it should be in there.

Bob,    faxes and Emails are not legally acceptable evidence in court.  Without a signature,  the debt collector will claim that he did not receive any such thing and will continue to call and not send validation of the debt.
You must notify him via USPS,   with a certified letter with signature requested.   In your letter,  request all that you stated in your post,  including the cease and desist for all communications except written.

This is a debt collector called Convergent Outsourcing, 800 SW 39th Street, Renton, Washington 98057.   Their FAX number is 206-322-4838.

Send them this letter by FAX:

"In accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I hereby inform you in writing that I dispute the validity of the alleged debt, and I demand written verification from you.

Cease and desist from any communication with my by telephone.  All communication from you must be only in the form of writing from now on."

Then start recording all phone calls from them.

If they continue to call you, according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, they then owe you $1000 in statutory damages, plus the court costs and attorney fees necessary to collect that $1000.

Also, check your state's statute of limitations for debts.  In most states, any debt that has been past due for 4 years (sometimes 6 years in other states) is TIME BARRED by the statute of limitations, and if they do try to sue you, you can win by simply telling the court the lawsuit is time barred.  And, if they sue you on a time barred debt, they have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and they now owe you $1000 plus court costs, and attorney fees.  You simply file a counterclaim against them, if they sue you.

they called but we didn't pick up the phone since didn't recognize this number.

They call me about once every 2 or 3 days. I answer every time. After about 10 seconds of silence, they hang up. I'm just going to block their number if they don't stop calling and hanging up.

First time for this number to call.  I didn't recognize the number so let voice mail pick it up; but, no message was left.  Maybe it's a spam call.

I'm having the same problem.  What eventually happened?

I had t-mobile for 2 days and cancelled service and they want me to pay for whole month. Told them if they had service like they claimed instead of running off of att service causing me not to be able to use my phone to its fullest, I might have stayed. Refused to pay for something that doesn't work. If I wanted to be on att I would have stayed with att.

I recieved a phone call from that phone number during my personal dinner time and the caller demanded me to verify my information...I told her she called me and she said well I will mark your records that you refused to verify and I said I don't care because I am current...always have been current, I hung up and...then I called T-Mobile and they agreed with me that yes I am current and they have no idea who they were and directed me to not verify either. I think they were bogus, so be careful!

Received calls from this number i moved to Alaska where tmobile isn't at and they told me absolutely NOT when i asked them to waive the cancelation fee...REALLY!?!?!  they dont offer service in Alaska but wouldn't waive the fee..  i was with them for 8 years you would think a loyal customer would be able to have it waived

I receive calls on my cell, with no one, then they called at work.  Only said Convergent, and asked me to verify my last 4 numbers of my SS.  I said absolutely not, so they hung up.  If its T-Mobile like you all say, then they are scammng.  I cancelled T-Mobile on my contract end and paid the bill.  What could they be looking for?

I was called by this number several times in the last 2 days. Today was thr first time I talked to a live person.  Previously all I received was "Please hold for the next available agent".  It the telecomm world the thing that calls you is a "Predictive Dialer",  As an agent finishes a call it places the next call.  In my case I receive calls for anyone with my first initial and last name.  It's obvious that they have not checked the "Federal Do Not Call LIst".  If you tell the caller that you do not know the individual they are loooking for and put on their :Do Not Call List" and they call again file a FCC Complaint.  It easy and can be done on line.  If you file a complaint and get called again a letter to your congress man and another FCC complaint is in order or possibly a complaint to the "Consumer Protection Agency".  If you are willing to take a little time and cause the calling company more trouble and attention than they want eventually they will leave you alone...

I got a call from this number just now. They asked me to verify my address and date of birth but wouldn't tell me what this was regarding. I refused to give them anything until they gave me more details and they refused to give me more details until I verified the information. It sounded like a scam, although the guy said he was from Convergent Outsourcing, so I refused to give any more information and he terminated the call. After looking at this website, I realized it was a collections agency, and thought this might be regarding a medical bill for my 2 year old son - my insurance rejected full payment and I can't afford to pay the rest.

You absolutely right. T-mobile wants me to pay for a broadband device for service that's no available in my area. But they sold me the service and device knowing service was out in my area.  They did give me credit for the $200 cancellation fee but want me to pay $100 for the device. If there's no service why would you need the device.

They called. I answered. They hung up. I called back and the guy who answered was rude as hell. His first words were , "what is your date of birth" I said please tell me who u r and what u want first. He said Convergent Outsourcing, now I need to get some information from you" first of all, if u can't tell me what ur calling for, then I can't tell u any information bout me cause I'm not getting scammed.

I get calls from this number all the times.  The woman on the phone stated to me in order I have the right person I need you to state your date of birth.  They will not give out any information to you and want you to give your date of birth,address over the phone.  I said if you have anything for me you can send through the mail.

They call & hang up when I answer. When I call back it tells me all agents are busy & to call another #. When I call the other # no one answers. This # calls me everyday 2-3 times. I have zero outstanding bills & TMobile takes directly from my account on automatic pay so I've never been late. STOP CALLING ME!

I have been repeatedly harrasded by this company solely based on the fact that some one else had my phone number prior to me.  The company is trying to force me to pay this bill that the previous person ran up.

Got the call or should I say calls, put blocks on the number...from T-mobile collection goons...they milked me out of over $120 with the Blinko...which I didn't ask for, didn't know what it was until I googled it and WOW,,the attorney general of Illinois has a law suit against them (T-Mobile /Blinko) for the users that were fraudulently billed...I went with Verizon, contract was up...less than 24 hrs...then they billed me for entire month because I cancelled  a few hours over the new pay period...T-Mobile is doing this all over the country to users that have been with them for years!!! i am reporting them to our state attorney general!!

Get repeated calls but dice didn't recognize don't answer it

I have the same problem. I refuse to verify personal info over the phone w some company I've never heard of... Absolutely NOT! When I spoke to a supervisor they stated that I was being rude by not complying with their demands and then they hang up! So so rude

I was called by this number and I someone picked up my phone and asked what it was regarding. They wouldn't say. Then the person who answered said that she wouldn't call back then. They said this must be her. He was very rude. I guess it was Convergent Outsourcing like someone said above.

Asked T-Mobile to furnish me with another phone since I had broken my old one.  They could not do it.  Therefore, I switched to verizon with the same number because they could provide me a cheap phone (just for emergencies).  When I got the bill from T-mobile, they charged me an extra $100.00 for cancelling!  What, I had been with these fools for going on 8 years!  I refused to pay the bill!  Now, I have these clowns on the phone trying to collect.  Good luck!

Calls every day two three times. Mon thru sun. Does not say anything  but hangs up. Any messages from them are recorded.

They are always calling, I am on a no call list, they don't care.   They asked to speak to Beth Fisher.  She lives in Fl.   I live in N.C. She is my daughter, my God they know where she lives.   She has no money, only what I send to pay bills. She goes to school full time, has two little boys, 6  and 8., divorced her druggie, alcoholic husband.    Everything was in her name as she did have very good credit, but he never paid for anything, she  was working full time then.  He ruined her credit, stole her credit cards in her name, etc. So she can't work,  as school is full time. We help her get by.   We are retired.   She is studying to better herself.   We pay for most everything so she can graduate next June.   She is struggling to get by.   The boys are in day care all day during the summer and before and afterschool during the school season..   If she had money she would pay her bills but unfortunately she was layed off permanently last summer.  She had worked there for 11 yrs.   They closed the company, shut the doors.   Since then she has had surgery 3 times with complications.  Now she is haaving surgery again as her bladder has turned and the pee stays in her. This started after she had her gallbladder out and had already had a hystectomy.   So sorry but she is trying to better herself and get on her feet.  .  When they call her she tells them the truth, but they still want money which she doesn't have.   She even lost her house thanks to her x-husband.
