People like the clueless posters who keep repeating the erroneous information that you're charged for calls by an 855 number (or by an 855 number that calls you) are proof of why urban legends refuse to die. It's the same as any 800, 888. 877, or 866 number. Of course, that doesn't excuse unsolicited calls by an 855 number.

Guys, seriously read this..      the called party, is generally the person that owns the number.. so 855-***-****  when you call them, You are not charged anything.    when they call you, their toll free number shows up, but they are paying for the outbound call they made.         they cannot charge you for a call they make.

Just called them back and told them to take me off there call list... I hope they didn't charge me an insane price for that call. (as the worker was "experiencing network problems" and took longer to put my number on the do not call list.)

Above writer is correct. 1-855 is not always toll free. If you are given a 1-855 number to call it can be routed to another number with you paying the charge. When in doubt, don't call, or ask the telephone co. if that # is toll-free.

I called the number back... It's Network Solutions.  I asked them to put me on a do not call list.

I've gotten many calls from this number over the past week. Some as high as 5/day-evening. I've only answered twice and it IS CREEPY. No one says anything, but someone or machine is on the line. I don't answer now. Hopefully they will get tired of this and stop
