I have tracked all the different numbers that have called me with the dates and whether they called work or cell or both, wish i could sue these SOB"S but they are all bogus numbers with no addresses attached.  I would really make alot of money if i could sue these SCAMMERS, but how the hell you do that when they constantly change phone numbers and you really can not link the number to any real business!  Just sayin!

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt.  Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily).  They will normally answer the call back number as ?Investigations?

Reynolds, Hill, and Associates
Berkley and Associates
Kaufmann and Associates
Sanderson Blaine & Associates
Blaine and Associates
McKenzie Reid Associates
Kennedy, Kline, & Associates
Nationwide Asset and Recovery
Piedmont Investigations and Procurement
Raffino, Garrison, & McCoy
Greenman, Schwartz & Associates
McCoy Law Group
Salem Associates
Reynolds and Associates
Ryan, Carter and Fields
Berman, Maxwell and associates
DOF Investigations
Vaughn & Associates
Bailey & Rowe

Here is a set of links to a variety of threads on this forum that document this group and its behavior. They include the experiences of victims as well as a former employee or two that quit within a week of finding out exactly what was going on. They also include responses from consumer advocates and people who are really criminal justice professionals advising victims of what to do

These are important things to know and arm yourself with when you get calls like this.

FDCPA: The FDCPA is essentially a laundry list of what debt collectors can and cannot do while collecting a debt, as well as things debt collectors must do while collecting a debt.  (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)

TCPA: The TCPA restricts telephone solicitations and the use of automated telephone equipment.  Specifically, the TCPA limits the use of automatic dialing systems, prerecorded voice messages, and unsolicited text messages. (Telephone Consumer Practices Act)

FCCPA: The FCCPA is essentially a laundry list of what first-party creditors can and cannot do while collecting a debt, as well as things first-party creditors must do while collecting a debt.  (If you live in Florida - Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act)

Fair Credit Consumer

Damages:

·         FDCPA: you may be entitled to recover two different types of damages: statutory and/or actual.  Statutory damages are provided for by law.  In this case, if a violation has been found by the court, the FDCPA provides for statutory damages of up to $1,000.00.  You need not prove any actual damages to recover statutory damages under the FDCPA.  Actual damages represent what the defendant?s violation actually cost you and must be proven with sufficient certainty- they cannot be speculative or hypothetical.

·         TCPA: in regards to TCPA claims, statutory damages of $500.00 are provided for each fax, text message, e-mail, pre-recorded voicemail message left, or predictive call made to a cell phone that is received by a consumer without their already given consent.  If the Court finds that the Defendant willfully violated the TCPA, treble damages of $1,500.00 may be awarded for each fax, text message, email, pre-recorded voicemail left, or predictive call made to a cell phone.

·         FCCPA: A creditor who fails to comply with any provision of the FCCPA is liable for actual damages and for additional statutory damages of up to 1,000.00.  That means you are entitled to damages ranging from $100.00 to $1,000.00.

Ok people!   This is a scam.  Got call today with same message as you all.  Add this number to the 18 other phone numbers that have called me since Jan. 2014 and it equals SCAM!!!!! I have been keeping track of all the different numbers with basically the same message from each one.  I have been threatened with arrest and court documents going to arrive at my home or office if i do not respond.  Since i started keeping track last year i am still waiting to either be arrested or be served with papers.  I keep thinking that sooner or later the calls will stop and they take me off of their list because i never answer and i never call them back!  Which means i am not falling for their SCAM!    If i can help at least one person who reads this from giving these scum bags any information and not give these scum bags any money, i feel i have done my job.  I will keep tracking the different phone calls that i get and looking them up and then posting something like i am posting today so i can help others not fall victim to these scum bags.  And in response to all!  You will not be arrested, they can not arrest you for having a debt.  They will send court documents to settle debt in court, but since this is a scam there will be no court documents sent!  TRUST ME!!! I have been waiting.  But let me tell you this.   I have gotten over 70 calls that i have kept track of since last June 2013.  Out of those 70 calls 32 have been from diferent phone numbers some leave a case number and some dont, but out of these calls i have  9 different case numbers, boy if this was legit, i sure would owe alot of people money!!!!  so with this being said, if there is an issue with your bank or your credit card or something to that effect the bank will contact you or it will show on your statement report!  DO NOT GIVE ANYONE ANY INFORMATION WHO CALLS YOU WITH THESE TYPES OF THREATS.  YOU DO NOT OWE ANYONE MONEY!!!!!!  THESE CALLERS ARE GOING TO TRY AND THREATEN YOU SO THAT YOU GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION AND THEN RIP YOU OFF!!!!!  Thank you.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Just got a call with a message left on my machine from this number. No company name or reference regarding about. They just said a name & if you had any information where that person is located to give us a call to let them know the location. I am not calling back the number because they don't sound like that they know who they are really calling. They left a reference number that sounds weird
