Holechaser - I don't know why others don't use this simple solution to the problem of unwanted calls.  If we all did, they'd all go out of business PDQ.

I agree because this type of thing has happened to me before.  When an unknown number shows up on caller ID, don't answer it, let it go to voice mail.  If they don't leave a message, then you know its not important.  From there I Google the number and usually come across boards like this with complaints.  The last step is to block the number, always works for me.

Being on the national do not call list, I reported this to https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx...I suggest others do the same!

We had gmac and now its ocwen so probably same thing. Goodthing we're getting rid of that mortgage soon.

I've been doing some checking and it might be due to the mortgage company we have. Not sure but it seems that when GMAC mortgage went bankrupt they sent our mortgage to a company called Ocwen...awful company, but they apparently have many small companies that use your information to call to sell you various products. Not saying that's who we all have, but maybe it is something like this. I just want people to leave me alone. If I want a product I will search it out....we need people to re-define capitalism, it's gone from having a business and being profitable to being pushy and invasive in our lives...I want out!

They are criminals.

Once you receive a call you will receive many many more. Any recorded telemarketing call is 100% illegal. So if you get one, then you should know it is a scam.

Every call will be recorded, will come from a number that is out of area, will always have a weird caller ID name, and will always be a fake number from a fake company.

All they want is your credit card information so they can use it for personal use. There is no service, there is no company and they will definitely not lower your interest rate.

Beware of telemarketing scams by NOT providing personal information over the phone. Never ever provide personal information over the phone. Please warn others and ignore such calls.

This scam is old but people sadly still fall for it.

Caller ID said B Wood. A ladies voice said it was in reference to our credit card account.  The voice sounded like a recording. I hung up.

I received a call about lowering my interest rate to 6.9%. This was a recorded call.  Said if you wanted to speak with someone press 1 or if you didn't want anymore calls to press 2.  Tried to press 2 but disconnected before I could do it.  Tried to call the number back and it just disconnects it doesn't ring through.  It is listed to brightview Woodbury Lake LLC.  I called them at a different number and they don't know anything about it.  It's not an active number for them.  I believe that it has been hacked.  All of my phones are on the do not call list.  So, I sent a complaint to them and explained that I believe the number was hacked.  If you are on the do not call list you should file a complaint so that they find these people.

The number is listed to a "Brightview Woodbury Lake LLC", an assisted living place in NJ.
so either someone is misdialing the phone, or someone hacked the phone number for a scam.  Either way, they don't leave a message.

I don't even bother to answer.
