guess what "pay your bills".....not all the programs work for everyone and half the time its the billing department that puts it into collection even though you try to make payments to them.   So stop being an a** and condescending and realize that it is an imperfect world.  If you work in a health care office or are a health care professional.........................if I had your name? I would make sure you were out of business for your attitude.

Police: Woman harassed on Facebook
?

ROWLEY ? A New Jersey man has been charged with harassing a Rowley woman via Facebook in what Rowley police Chief Robert Barker called an Internet friendship that had run its course.

Brian Shaw Davis, 35, 685 5th St., Atco, N.J., was issued a summons Monday at 8:17 a.m. on charges of criminal harassment (subsequent offense), accosting or annoying person of opposite sex, and wanton lewd and lascivious conduct. The summons was issued at the Haverhill Street police station, following the conclusion of a special investigation.

Barker said the victim contacted police after Davis continued to send her messages after she "unfriended" him on Facebook. Barker said the messages were mean-spirited and contained unsavory threats regarding the victim's family.

Whether Davis will have to answer for his alleged actions is unclear, as Barker said he wasn't sure if the suspect will be extradited to Massachusetts.

"The point here is we're sending him a message," Barker said. "There are consequences."

So annoying calling so many times in one day- do you get a bonus for how many times you call.
Yes we know we have bills to pay- but when my oil bill to heat my house is more important than a old medical bill, think my oil comes first. when your unemployed and have to put food on the table- that comes before the medical bill. there are honest hard working people out here, that are struggling to pay even basic needs, when my kid has to go to the library to use the internet because we cannot afford it.
On top of it, I finally deal with you guys make a plan, you take a little out every month, and still continue to call for me to pay more.
Think I'm going to buy a cheap burn phone and anytime I go to the hospital for a emergency, and I can't pay the bill you can call my dead phone.

No one pays attention to medical debt on a credit report, and I doubt anyone is going to put in an honest effort and sue for a small medical bill...  I filled out paperwork after making no money I got 20% of my bills paid by charity...  Wow thanks alot...  And the care at most hospitals is sub par, so shut the fck up...  Your a** is still getting paid regardless of wheather your facility gets paid or not...

Before you all start running your mouth about being a deadbeat and just being responsible and just pay your bill, listen up...  DON'T JUDGE...  You don't know what each person's situation is, all a collector knows if you don't pay your little $50 dollar bill that you as a collector don't get your stingy little percentage...  I did collections and had to quit, I rather be fcking broke, because I have compassion for people...  I LOST my real job in 2008 and haven't been able to replace it with so much as a decent paying job since...  The world is fcked...  I am not worrying my mind over a stupid medical bill in collections because no one pays attention to medical debt...  And if the s*** is more than 7 years old it falls off your report anyway...  So stop playing big bullies over the fcking phone, you don't scare me...  There is not a damn thing you can do to anyone because your just a voice on the phone...  Kudos for having a job, but you are nothing more than a do***ebag trying to profit off of a bill that probably can't get paid for a legit reason...  Sit back and think what you would do if you lost your job, I bet you wouldn't be paying a medical bill...  I bet you would be doing your best to feed your family and roll into collections...  STFU and bite me for real...

I have been getting daily messages from a man there "hi this is Tom please give me a call back at...". It's been going on for months now. It is capital collections. This # actually was calling my house for a year prior asking for a different person and I would tell them that person does not live here. They would insist that I was the woman they were looking for and just saying she doesn't live here... I finally got them to stop with those calls and now they call actually asking for my name! I decided to call today and the first few times it was dead air and would hang up and then I finally got a person. She says I owe an underwood hospital bill. I told her that a couple of those went thru bankruptcy and the only one that did not, was paid a month ago. She says she knows nothing about it and wants my bank info to verify this payment! Are u kidding me....I'm not giving that info out. I don't understand y she wont call the hospital where it was paid and verify it. Sounds like a bunch of scammers to me. Don't give them any info. Underwood actually never put that thru collections since it was paid on time. This all raises a red flag for me

I know that this is an old posting, but I'm going to reply anyway.

1. Many (if not most) of the people of the people here are complaining because they either kept calling the wrong person or kept calling in violation of the law. So how is "just pay your bills" going to take are of that?

2. Secondly, with many people trying to keep a roof over their head due to long-term unemployment, they may not be able to pay their bills. That does not mean that they deserve to be harasssed in direct violation of federal law.

Please think things through before you spit out simplistic solutions that don't work.

Just Pay Your Bills and the calls will stop.  It's pathetic. The hospitals offer all kinds of programs to help people without insurance yet people won't take the time to fill out the paperwork, or don't bother to bring their insurance information to the hospital with them.  What are we mind readers? We're medical personnel and we provide services.  We deserve to get paid for the services we give you.  We shouldn't have to hunt you down and have collectors calling you in the first place.  You know full well when you go to the hospital or the doctors there is going to be a bill.  You know we can't turn you away.  Have the decency to attempt to pay, or provide the information needed to get your bill written off.  It isn't that hard.  And no....you can't wait three years to ask us to write it off.  By then we are going to sue you or put it on your credit.  We work for our money and expect to get paid. Don't you?

Collection agencies need to abide by the laws set forth concerning debt collection.  A person is allowed to refuse payment, but if you refuse payment companies are allowed to pursue collection.  But using unfair tactics to obtain this debt is illegal.

Search on the Internet for the "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act." Pay special attention to the section titled "§ 805. Communication in connection with debt collection."

If you feel a company is using unfair tactics or harassing you in any way, you have the right to submit in writing that they stop.  If they do not then I suggest contacting your attorney general's office and they will help you from there.  Good luck and let's hope the economy picks up so people can stand on their feet again.

Seriously? Send you a bill??? Really? did you not go to the hospital? Do you not expect a bill for services rendered? Do you not think the hospital sent you bills before sending it over to collections? How many freakin bills do you need? What so you can ignore it like you ignored the ones from the hospital and the collection agency that got it before capital? Are you not aware that usually before Capital gets it-the bill has been attempted to be collected by the client, and another company? The bills they collect are usually over a year old-and if you didn't pay it by then you are not going to pay it just because they sent you a bill.  Not to mention if you have insurance your insurance company sent you an EOB which is an "explanation of benefits" that tells you what you are responsible for.  No-people who work in collections don't have to be a%^holes to work there--debtors have to be to think that collectors are stupid enough to think you are going to pay a bill just because you get a piece of paper in the mail.  If you were serious about paying it you would have just paid it.  Yep--read it on your credit report and enjoy.  you will care when you try to buy something that the credit report counts for.  Thats when collection companies get paid-then you people have the nerve to demand a paid in full letter right away--doesn't matter that it took you three years to pay the doctor.  Grow up and pay your bills.

I know exactly what you mean.  This company has some very nasty people who calls and when you answer the phone there is no one on the other end.  I called the number back and told them if they wanted me to pay for a bill that they sent notice out on then I needed to know what I was paying for.  Some man by the named of Tom Hughes said I will just put it my credit report if I didn't pay the bill, then I spoke with some lady named Kelly who was just as rude as Tom Hughes and i explained the same thing to her as well that I would not be paying for something that I don't know what I am paying for.   I faxed and mailed in a letter disputing this information and they lied and stated that they didn't received any letter fax from me and constantly calls just to harrass me.I guess you have to be some kine of nasty person to have this type of jo.

You people have a lot of nerve complaining about someone who is doing their job.  Seriously? Pay your bills and the calls will stop.  If it's a wrong number then that is another case, but sometimes you get a bad egg that didn't remove the number--it doesn't make it the current persons fault.  If you aren't answering they don't know they have a wrong number.  If you had responded to the hospital or utility company bills you wouldn't be in collections so if they are calling you to pay your bills doesn't that make it your fault? Everyone is having tough times but nothing is free so you have to pay for services you received.  You expect to get paid for your job, so do doctors and hospital. Collection agencys are allowed to call from 8AM-8:30AM and they can call you more than once a day if they don't reach you on the phone or leave a message.  It is their job to collect the money you didn't pay, so they are going to continue to try until you pay.  I am sure if you make an attempt to do something about the bill you wouldn't have to pretend you aren't home or lie about who you are when you answer the phone.  Just pay your bills.  Pay your bills!

I work for another company but I happened upon this site looking up my company.  If Capital Collections does medical collections there is a reason they are not leaving that information on your answering machine.  It is against the law.  Have you ever heard of HIPPA? They have to make sure they are speaking with the right person before they can disclose any information about the bill.  To those of you who think you don't owe a medical bill, try looking at your EOBS once in awhile.  Your insurance doesn't cover 100% of anything.  There are copays and you probably ignored all the hospital correspondence that you got before the collection agency got the file.  If you claim you have charity care then your issue isn't with the collection agency it's with the hospital that sent you there.  If you truly had charity care they wouldn't have sent it over for collections.  It isn't the collectors responsibilty to see if you have it, it's your responsibilty to prove you have it.  They get the phone numbers from the patient-they don't pull them out of the sky, so if it's a wrong number, blame the patient not the person making the call.  If you have money for an attorney you can pay the $50 you owe the doctors.  Medical isn't free in this country and if  you think it is you haven't watched the news lately fool.  At least collectors have a job and pay their bills.  As far as the automated system, that may be annoying but it isn't the collectors fault, it is part of the job.  Do you think they like calling people all day and being bull dozed with excuses and being told off? They are doing their jobs, and if you were doing yours you would pay your damn bills.

I get a call from this number every day several time at that. I do have a person who gives me her name as Mary Mahoney and she leaves this number with an extension of 274. I never call back b/c there should be no reason I should be getting a call for a medical bill. All my medical is covered under charity care at my local hospital so they can just take a flying leap! However, I think I may take the advice of someone here and send a letter to CCS stating the law of harrassing calls like this. I have no problem suing them and getting money from THEM! Lord knows my family could use it. I'm really not like that but sometimes it's necessary. I didn't hear from any of you that you get an extension number from the person who leaves a message. Is that b/c none of you have?
