I received a text on my phone from sender (278) 127-71 with the message:

I just started to give these people a great deal of information and then it dawned on me my cc Number is not my "debit card" nummber. CRAP!

Me to - but it was for Wells Fargo account this time - how do they know where we bank.  Asked for SS# so hung up!

I don't bank with BoA, so this obviously a phishing scam. I highly recommend NOT calling this number back.

Whenever you get a message like this and you're not absolutely positive it is legitimate and you're not absolutely sure it's bogus, cal back on a land-line

Jus got this text wells fargo checking issue... we dont even have a wells fargo in Hawai'i ..its a scam

My wife and I both got a text message this morning stating from bofa to call 857 453 3703, I checked google before contacting bofa with a legitimate ph #, and a site like this helped answer my question quickly: that the message is a scam phishing for personal information. I deleted the messages from both of our phones. Its always a good practice to check texts and emails of this sort. Thank you 800notes......

Got a txt from wells fargo...have no business with them.  Just spam

I received a text message it was from a phone number that showed up as 619-987-11(1) just as I put it on here.  Obviously they didn't want to display their full real number where it was coming from.  The text message said: Please Contact Bank of America help desk @ 857-453-3703. There's an important message that you need to hear.

Nothing else was on the message.  Obviously who ever is calling people and or sending text to all of us,  they are fishing.  They send out calls or texts  and are hoping one of us will be stupid enough to call their number.  And that we will be stupid enough to believe it's our bank that has called or text us.  Don't call them!!  If you have a concern go to your own bank and speak with them directly.  Or look up their real phone # and call them.  But don't use the number these people gave you.  

These people are out to get a hold of people's personal information.  They try to play on people's knee jerk reaction of fear that some how our information has gotten out.  

We all know that if our banks think there is a problem with our account they call you and tell you to call them.  And it will be your bank calling not some bank that you don't even have an account  with.  And I don't know about you but my bank has never text me.  Bahahaha these people are trolls seeking people's financial information, trying to take out money away from us!!

Don't respond to them they are thrives who are trying to get personal information.  Best to ignore them!!

I got the same message this morning at 7:45 I called the number and the first thing I noticed that there was no BofA Jingle and then they asked for my social security number so I hung up and called the BofA customer service number that I knew was lagit. They told me that the number was not a BofA number and to send an email to abuse@bankofamerica.com .

Got a similar message this morning from 619-993-55 (incomplete number) instructing me to call Wells Fargo Help Desk for "an important notification you need to hear". Looks like they are busy today sending out scam messages.

Just got a text from (206) 348-55 that reads exactly like this:

(Call WellsFargo @ 857 453 3703) Your Attention is Requested

based on the fact that others on this post got things from Bank of America from the same number, it's obviously not legitimate.

text message on cell phone was "please contact Wells Fargo Help Desk.... there is an important notification you need to hear"  Wells Fargo does not have my cell phone number, so I did not call that number.  I did verify with Wells Fargo that it was not their number.
