This is Midland Credit Management, Inc., wholly owned subsidiary of Encore Capital Group.  Addresses for both are: 8875 Aero Drive, Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92123.   Midland harassed me for months, with anonymous hang-up robocalls four and five times a day; never left messages, and if I picked up there was dead air.  Long story short I finally got a live person and after hours of internet research managed to put the story together.  They were harassing me for FOUR accounts, none of which were mine.   They use "1 Unavailable" as their caller ID.  Their phone company is Pacific Bell d/b/a AT&T California.  Complain to and about the phone company as well because they have to know this caller ID is used to cloak illegal activity.  The State of Maryland went after them for various violations and Midland paid the state almost a million dollars in fines.  Minnesota and Texas have class action lawsuits pending against Midland, which has also been sued numerous times in numerous states.  Do not take crap from these people.  Report them to state and federal regulators and get an attorney.  Midland is violating state and federal unfair debt collections practices laws, that require the perpetrator--Midland--to pay your attorney fees.  The internet is full of lawyers who take these cases.  Get an attorney and GET 'EM.

This is Midland Credit Management, a debt collection service.  They were fined almost a million dollars by the State of Maryland for illegal tactics. I did not owe them money; it turned out they were calling FOUR different people who had had my phone number, which was randomly assigned to me after a move a little over a year ago.  They were making hang-up robo-calls to my home number four and five times a day for months.  Long story short, I finally found out who they are--not easy, because their caller i.d. is "1 Unavailable."  For technical reasons, this makes it impossible to block their calls.  I have an attorney, and  they have made a settlement offer that includes a sum of money, but their terms are not acceptable to me; for one thing, they want me to waive their compliance with various laws, including false credit reporting, which I will not do.  If I have to go to court to make them pay for months of harassment with literally hundreds of hang-up robo-calls, I will do it.

     This alleged business practices include calling to collect monies via the following practices:
               1.  Unable to establish legitimate debt:
                    I went to court and  Midland Credit Management, Inc. was not only unable to establish        
                    the amount of the debt was legitimate but also was unable to prove I owed any monies
                    to the company they represented.  It's important to note that the alleged debt Midland
                    Credit Management, Inc. represented was from a company that had filed Chapter 11
                    and payments made during this time were unfortunately not posted to accounts.
               2.  After the court date, Midland Credit Management, Inc. continued with unwarranted
                    collection practices and currently this business for profit not only continues to call me
                    but also sends demand letters for me to pay a debt that legal representation deemed
                    'not legally binding'.  
               3.  Midland Credit Management, Inc. sends invoices asking for payments to be
                    sent to PO Box 603, Oaks, PA 19456.  If you call for a telephone number for
                    this alleged business in Oaks, PA , you will be told Midland Credit Mgmt.,Inc.
                    does not have a business located in this area.
               4.  Midland Credit Management, Inc. collection practices include contacting place
                    of employment so do let them know in writing-Not Allowed.  To err on the
                    side of appropriate business collection practices, it may also be a good idea to
                    let this business for profit know that you will report their kind of collection
                    practices to the following entities:
                         a.  the three major credit agencies
                         b.  Better Business Bureau in all the cities listed above
                         c.  Attorney General for all the cities Midland Credit Management, Inc. receives
                              monies-to include random PO Boxes without contact name,address  or
                              telephone numbers.

I just received a call from this number and no one was on the line when I answered it. The caller ID said Midland Credit. I do not have any business going on with this company.

I received a call this morning on my cell phone. I let it go to VM and when I checked my messages, it started off with music, I guess I was on hold, then a women said hello and then hung up.
No idea who this is.

There was a voice mail on my answering machine from this phone number, yet they had my answering machine on HOLD stating they were experiencing heavy call volume, for several minutes backgroung music played.  Then heard a lady say hello, she then hung up.
