You can sue them for that..............A BIG VIOLATION....but they aren't very smart! They don't realize people are not that dumb. Also they make up phony case numbers so they can try to trick you.

Patrick Cooper INC. AKA PCI is calling you! An extremely unprofessional debt collection agency. They called my mom, sister, my sister-in-law, my father, and me all in one day over a $300 debt that my husband paid a year ago. They told my whole family that they were going to take ME to superior court and have me charged with wire fraud and check fraud if I did not give them $1488.40 in 2 weeks. The also called me about 2 months prior at my job and on my cell phone telling me that they were going to be at my job in 5 minutes b/c they had some papers for me to sign and serve me with government documents if I didn't call right away. They also did it at about 8:30 at night when I was home 9 months pregnant with my third child. Everything they are doing is completely against FTC regulations and illegal. They also claim to be prominent attorneys from NY when they call you. I have read blog after blog about this company and as I can see I am not the only person that these people are doing this to. If you get a call from Melinda Ryan or Tom Cooper from this company that is not there real names and please do your research before paying this company b/c you will get ripped off. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND REPORT THEM to there Attorney general in NY and to the FTC. Don't let these debt collectors like this scare you.

Called .. called people I know .. say I have a Civil Suit filed against me .. first of all .. they are legally able to give out information of that nature to a third party.  I called them back .. asked them to verify the debt they say I owe .. said it was from like 2009 and I was going to jail for fraud.  LOL .. I told them I was turning their information over to my attorney because they were giving false information to a third party.  They hung up on me.  I called them back .. They are not happy now .. keep hanging up on me .. This is not a legit law firm .. they are NOT going to come to your work or home and serve you with anything .. call them on their bluff .. no one is going to call third parties and give them private information on a debt whether its a legit one or not and if they were legit and going to serve you .. they wouldn't call you and threaten you .. I have another company calling they say I need to be available between the hours of 1 and 3 PM at my place of business and have my boss or my security guard on hand to verify identification.  Again .. I told them to COME ON DOWN .. they hang up .. when you try and call them back .. the number is not valid .. they get numbers from all different states and try and intimidate you ..

i received a call from Patrick Connor and associates. her name was christina said there was a civil suit against me. i called back and got a recording.....A guy called a couple weeks ago threatening to go to court.  i said i dont owe a payday loan , he said  it was a mortagage.when i questioned and deneid it, he said it was a credit card....i asked for proof . he couldn't dupply it... said i would receive a summons for court the next day....i responded back that i would take my chances with the court system...

I had the same thing happen to me. The lady that called me was Barbara or something like that. Ifs funny she called my moms new phone number and my fiances new number as well and actually talked to them and told them the same thing. She had my case number with the last four of my social. She scared the crap out of my mom by telling her they were pressing charges against me and taking me to court. Supposedly they had a court date and i was supposed to appear.. really im in Texas this idiot is in New York. Not once did i ever receive a call to my cell phone until my mother gave it to her. I called her back and got an answering machine for some Patrick & Associates company. I was like really u bliw everyones phone up looking for me now i  have to leave a message wow. I left a message and sure enough i get a call back from this  Barbara lady, the first thing out of my mouth was how dare you call my mother scare her by telling her that they were going to press charges on me and send me to jail since i never appeared in court the lady kinda smirked and said um i never called your mother and i never told her that. I was irritated by her smartass remarks i couldnt stop yelling at her. What happened was they know they arent suppose to call and harrass you and the call was probably being recorded so she yelled at me that she was hanging up, i said good and dont ever call me or my family again or i will pursue harrassment charges against you and she hung up on me...

Someone by the name of Ms Washington called me on 4/26/2012
She stated for me to contact my attorney which I don't have nor do I have the money to hire one.
My Unemployment is in question and that is my/was only source of income.
She said she was from Patrick O Connor Associates. She did not say what the call pertained to only that it was about a summons being served in Cook County which is Chicago. She left me a number to return her call in 24 hours which I called back on 4/27/2012 716-226-0702. At first there was a recording that said the number you have dialed is not in service. Then I called back again and got a voicemail that cut off. I would appreciate some advice on stopping these calls.

This lovely company now calls me from a 7162260710 number.

First I get a young woman who opens the call telling me I have two legal charges in my name from her office.  I told her outright I knew the office was not an attorney's office as she claimed, and would not pay her a penny.  At which point she offered to transfer me to a "senior legal advisor;" no thank you.  She called back THREE TIMES after I refused her "services."

The "account" in question was a payday loan from 2008, said company tried to pull from my account before the date agreed on, multiple times, causing me major issues with my account.  I sent them a copy of the contract and a list of the bounced check fees they had given me thanks to charging me days ahead of schedule - which almost balanced to zero (it wasn't a large loan, and the amount remaining was around $200 before the issue.)  This lovely debt firm wants $450 as a "50% settlement" or they will "take me to court."  I told them to mail me documentation, and see ya in court then when they couldn't provide anything.

Did the Attorney General ever get back to you? I filed with FTC.

They called my son and talked to him about his grandfather. Who stoops that low. They asked my son to give them his address or phone number. When he said he would not they told him they have a case against him and he was in trouble. When I got home I called back and I just knew that it was a collection agency and not an attorney. They let me talk to the office mang. ( alias Mr. Thomas Cooper ) who told me that they would have never said those things to my son. He asked me how old is your son? I said under 18 and you should not even be asking me these questions. He said many questionable things. After reading these posts I called FTC to ask what the law was and they said to look at the web page. I called back Mr. Cooper to ask for the address and he asked me what I would need that for. I also asked him to verify that this was an attorney's office and he said yes it was. I filed a complaint. I don't think it will help but these people should not be saying anything about someone elses debt, claiming they are calling for an attorney, or scaring kids.

Because the are not governed by law because it probably was an online company. They are not licensed to do business in your state, therefore, the do not have to abide the law; being that they are not legal! Third Party Liability does not pertain to them.

Received call on my cell phone several months ago asking for my brother, who they claimed had written bad checks and needed to have his attorney contact them.  I called them back and told them that were never to call my number again.  They claimed they would remove my number from their list.  Now they are calling me again and again and won't leave a message!  It is the same number.

received a call from Patrick Connor and Associates regarding "fraud" except my call was from phone number 716-226-0702.  They stated the last 4 digits of my ss# and said that I or my attorney should call before my case becomes a civil suit and good luck.   Within 2 minutes I than receive a call from my mother because they left the same message on her answering machine. I am going to look into filing a complaint,  I dont see how they are allowed to leave messages with my name and other personal information

Tonight round 800 I received a phone call from Patrick Connor and associates a man by the name of Thomas Callahan said that he was collecting a debt from two years ago and that there were two charges pending one being check fraud or I could pay the debt. This is from a payday loan and the account was closed. He began to get mad when I started to ask him questions about who he was and phone number and So forth. And he gave me the same number 866-391-1303 ext. 104.

I got a call from John Meyers about a real account I had in the past from this company Patrick Connor and Associates. I know the account I had was correct and I listened to what the person had to say.  Later, I called the number back and talked to Thomas Cooper.  I am not sure if was even real.  However, I did file a complaint with the Attorney General in TEXAS! We will see about this mess! ONCE AND FOR ALL!

I received a harrassing call (via voice mail at my work number) from Patrick Conner and Associates that did not identify who the call is for stating that civil/fraud charges were pending to be filed locally and to call or have your attorney call 866-391-1303.

I just got a call form this supposed law office. I h ave nothing but some old deliquent bills but nothing they can file charges against me on. They threatened that they'd would put an investigator on it to see who I was. I've gotten calls like this before on my son and they said my son had a sopoena to appear in court. I started reseaching thes supposed lawyers just to find that they are in fact just a collection agency harrashing and this is illegal fr them to do. I'm seriously thinking of filing agaisnt them for harrashment. Thanks to all who give input and their testimony on these calls.

This guy called my cell phone, Thomas Cooper, looking for my fiancee. Told him not to call my number again, he keeps threatening  us he will sue him if he does not pay the amount... So we gave him a old pre paid card that had no money.. Dont pay these people, he couldn't even give me the information i needed to report his a**....

someone by the name of ann Rice keep contacting my family members regarding a debt or something that they will file a lawsuit against me. i never gave my family member phone numbers out to anyone. the caller has threatened my family members to inform me that charges will be filed against me. I am very confused as to who and what this is.

Thank you for the info Dillion. I have been trying to research this company for a while. Turns out they are a Buttomfeeder Debt Collection Co who does not abide by any of the debt Collection Laws. It's been reported they call people any where from 1 to 10 times a day and the law says  anything over once a day is harrasement. They buy up old debts and harrass  and threaten people with court orders and police charges and whatever illegals means they can. If you get a call or a message from them, dismiss it or report them to the Attorney Generals Office and see if we can't get them shut down.

This poor little kid worked there for about a month and could not collect anything ! we tried to help him and gave him many oppurtunities to improve but I cant and wont tolerate agency poison ! you know the type folks .This idiot came in to work here called the numbers on the accounts only, didnt skip one account and then actually complained about the paper!   LOL!!! then this poor uneducated man <takes a day off of work to go to a interview and puts our company down as a reference LOL!!!
