they keep caller 5 time day
Mike 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
I get these calls almost every day. Once I got what sounded like a drunk man, and another time I got someone else. I told them I would be interested in donating, but asked if there was any information they could send in the mail, or a website I could visit. Was immediately told to fu** off.

They are not the company that they claim to be.After excessive calling,I decided to call my uncle whose an Army veteran. He of course said that this # isn't the same as listed on the VA website. I finally called the FTC (1-877-FTC-HELP) from their website to file a complaint for telemarketing fraud. If enough of us could complain to the right authorities then they'd have enough evidence to shut it down/bring attention to these scammers. It's crazy that their making a legitimate organization look bad by using its good name.

This is a collection agency calling to get info, not a charity. Don't give them money or info.
Ralph 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
We are on the DNC list. When we pick up and answer, there is no response. I think someone gets paid per call made regardless of results. BTW these "Free Phone Number Look up" services seem to be money-making scams themselves! I don't understand why the police or government can't or won't do anything to protect citizens.

number called, claiming to be for Navy Veteran care packages. Asked for legal information about their organization and they hung up. scam, don't fall for it.

I get these calls multiple times a day verified by my caller ID. I comes up as Navy Vets. The people are very rude & need to be shut down. I have a Navy Vet in my family. I will find out how to do a legitimate complaint thru my Attorney General's office

Got a call soliciting 3 payment methods. Bronze, Silver, and, Gold. 20$,30$ and 40# accordingly. Was forwarded to second operator for verification. The catch was they said for me to send check or money order within 1 week after getting their snail mail. That flipped my flag.
Will not send anything. We all know Govt works slower.
Watch out for such impulse methods people.

The person calling did say he was from ACS and asked for a donation for the Navy Vets, but asked for my father, which was odd since this has never been his number. Not sure how they got his name with my number, but I just said that we couldn't afford it right now and hung up.

6.24.08 7:42 p, PST - asking for donations for the air force and I stated I'm not donating to anyone at this time. remove me from this list since I'm on the do not call list and they hung up. btw - they were calling for someone who had the number 5 years before me and this was not the first time they called.

answered a caller id call (US Navy Vets) 1-866-401-2547. Soliciting money and wanted to mail me donation letter of 20, 30 or 40 dollars. Told them to mail it to me...they had m address....thanks for letting me now its a scam.
Karen 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
Caller identified himself as representating ACS and that they are supporting active Navy personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq by sending care packages to them and could they send me a small donation card...I told them to take my name and number off their list and hung up. I knew this was not a "legitimate" website for these as I have sent care packages through the official channels. Then your website confirmed my suspisions.

Looks like a scam using the U.S. Navy name.

My mother has been receiving phone calls for some time from "the navy vets" wanting her to donate money. Thank God she hasn't. I was able to find the feed back. This is a disgrace to the United States Armed Forces, my mother has alot of health issues and living on social security which is very little. It is a shame to know there is people scamming anyone and everyone for their own benefit. Money and power has made our country a laughing stock. Don't send them any money and make sure if you have elderly parents what they are doing with their money and whom they are talking to.

I called this number back to see who answered, and it was answered by a machine that said it was The Breast Cancer Society.
JSF 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
Caller requested donation for navy seviceman care packages - told him that I couldn't afford to donate right now - he then asked if I could send a lesser amount of $20 - I explained that I could not but was hung up on before I could finish. RUDE! He identified his organization as ACS at the start of the call.

I just got a call from this number - after a brief pause and recording, a guy asked for my husband's name as if he knew him. I didn't say anything. Next time I will answer and talk nonsense, or keep him on phone like other user suggested. Make it a game and see how long you can keep him on the phone and how much info you can get without giving any of yours. Perhaps I'll just press touch tones until he hangs up. I never ever give any info out over phone!!

said "unknown", asked for Dr. by first name only, like it was personal
kim 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
Received a call from this number asking for donations to send "care packages" for the U.S. Navy Veterans Association. I asked him to send me some literature about his organization before I commited and he refused. He was rude and evasive and could not tell me any detailed information about what was in the care packages, etc.

I get about 10 calls a day from this number but I look at the caller ID and do not answer.

Called for me, and asked for donations. Don't answer.

I got a call.. "Navy relief." I told him I support the Army. If these guys keep bugging you and it doesn't cost you $ to stay connected, I recommend keeping them on the line as long as possible, giving the impression you're ready to send money before explaining that your legal guardian who handles all your money and pays your bills and he/she will be back in a few hours. KEEP THEM ON THE PHONE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!
Gi 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
they call several times a day and if you don't pick up they listen to your entire answering machine message and then hang up
Bill 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
Yes the Navy does have a relief fund and it is run by the U.S. Navy and they do not make phone calls asking for money. This is a rip-off sham system and should be reported to the FBI. Shut it down them ASP.

Constantly receiving calls from this number. I'm on the do not call list. Why do they keep calling?
Rich 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
Just got a call from "ACS" taking donations for "US Navy Vets". I got a superviser on the phone and asked "how much of the money that I send to ACS goes to US Navy Vets". The answer was: "20% goes to US Navy Vets, 80% goes to administrative costs". In other words, the fundraising organization keeps 80% and they only 20% of your donation gets to the people you wanted to help.
When you get a call from these guys, get out your checkbook and write a check to your favorite charity, but don't send these people 80 cents out of every dollar. It's a SCAN thinly veiled in charity.

I've had several calls from this number -- today I accidentally answered because I was expecting a call -- the guy mumbled something about the Navy -- I said don't call again -- he wanted to argue with me! - I hung up. Where is my whistle?!
Bob Cashman 2011-06-06 21:01:50 Unknown
had a gentleman call me at the Navy base and complain that someone called him from this number asking for money for Navy Vets. He said the guy became argumentative and started cursing at him. He told me he called the Navy base here because he didn't know what else to do. These people need to be shut down.
