I have received this call twice...no one there each time exactly 1 hour apart - 9:19a and  10:19a!  I've tried to call back and it just rings busy!  GRRRR

I received this call as well and when I tried to call it back it was busy for me too.  I found out who was calling though because they left a message.  Betty, you had a late rental from Family Video.  That was what they said to me.  Good luck with your search!

Our 14 year old daughter has received this call twice on her cell phone, both times around 9 am.  She never gets to answer it because she's in high school and doesn't check her messages until after school.  Both times it has been "Emily from Family Video" leaving the message.

Received a call from 866-493-9543 and it was a political call attacking our Democratic rep in Nebraska. Pre-recorded and not a nice call at all(and I'm a Republican!)

I picked-up, I said 'hello' twice, then it hung-up. Nothing....  "800 Service" was the title in my caller ID.  I'm using VOIP service - my # based in Illinois.  People who try to profit by annoying others? - - Wow, get a real job to improve the world... What's worse? Those morons who think they'll benefit themselves by hiring these jerks...  Take care.

Brain-dead clients, such as "Family Video", & the political activists mentioned here & on other sites similar to this, are perpetuating these scumbag companies by hiring them & if complaints are being mis-directed to them, they deserve it.

Followup on my entry above (30 Jan 2008). The responsible telemarketing company says political calls are not subject to Do Not Call, which is correct. However:

The FCC page says, "At the beginning of the message, all allowable prerecorded messages must state the identity of the business, individual, or other entity that is responsible for initiating the call. During or after the message, the caller must give the telephone number (other than that of the automatic dialing system or prerecorded message player that placed the call) of the entity responsible for the call."

In other words, it looks like these anonymous political calls are noncompliant--not with Do Not Call, from which they are exempt, but with the rule shown above. (Not legal advice, I am not a lawyer). They can be reported to the FCC link provided.

Also, I called Family Video and 866-493-9543 does not belong to them. It belongs to the telemarketing firm that handles their legitimate late video return reminder calls. The problem is that this number is used for other purposes as well, like the robocall I got.
