This same company called me and asked for my daughter. By his manner, he was acting aggresive, I informed him that he had the wrong #. He then stated that he knew she had called from my # twice last month, which at this time I knew he was lying due to the fact she had moved away a year ago and in no way was able to call from my phone. So I flatly told him this was his first lie and last word to me on my daughter due to had no Idea who he was. It was at this time he made a threat to do bodily harm to me which I replyed to bring a lunch he would be awhile. Then he stated he knew I was a cripple, yes on full disablity due to a sever neck and back injury-level 2 in neck and level 3 in lower back- and that he would come over to my house and knock me out with one punch and then stomp me to death. He also said to tell my daughter she was a low class s**t and he would be throwing her in jail for a bad check. Note found out my daughter made payment arrangements to these people and first payment was a check. They ran the check thru and cashed the first check but then tried to run it thru two more times, the same check, and the bank stopped it due to attempted fraud. So went to my local police station, I live in a town in Texas with maybe four hundred people, and file a complaint of verbel threat of bodly harm to a disabled person. Then called their office and informed them wouldbe going after them with the full force of state-Texas-and Federal laws for making threats against a disabled person. Now the account my daughter fs trying to pay is Capitial One and they have hired Van Buren Assco. to collect. The man I talked to name was Scott Anthony and said that he work for RJR Assco. not Van Buren Assco. even though they answered the phone as Van Buren. He stated that the person that called was a subcontractor to make the calles for they only did the paperwork. Now I am in my house with my wepons out not sure as to who these people have hired and what mafia collection system they use. Is there a lawyer out there that can help a disabled person see if the law can be brought down upon these ganster type collectors and provide me with some sense of proptection?

These people started calling my parents, in their seventies, asking for my son, Daniel, who has only once ever had them cosign for anything and he recently paid that off, but they are now getting harassing phone calls asking for him, and he has no current phone number they can give so their request to stop calling them is met with "we'll stop calling you when Daniel calls us."  He has called them and left several messages, but the calls to my parents have not stopped, but have even picked up to several a day.  It seems almost like harassment trying to extort money from them to stop the calls.  I have tried to talk to them but they say they can only talk to Daniel which makes no sense then why they continue to call my folks who say repeatedly he does not live with them and they have no access to his whereabouts.

I too got a call from these people. First it was a woman who wanted to know what time I would be home, because the police have tried to serve me several times with action paper (not true by the way I contacted my local police department after this call). I kept asking her what it was about and she couldn't tell me so she placed me on hold and transfered me to an "attorney" whom stated his clients are pursing to sure me for the balance owed from 6 years ago that has now incrued interest triple the amout I owed.( this doesn't even appear on my credit report, the number amount he gave me) I told him I didn't have a job, would they take payments. He placed me on hold to so call "speak" with his clients. He came back and asked what I'd be willing to pay and I said $25 and he replied they wont accept that however if you have access to someone elses card they will take $100 a month ( YEAH RIGHT as if that is even leagal and coming from a "law firm" he should know better) So we ended the conversation with he would be seeing me in court. 6 hours later I got a call from a woman who stated she seen that I spoke with someone did we get it resolved because he didn't leave any notes. I went off on her and told her I didn't owe that bill and she could talk to my attorney. She said she would call me back the next day at 3pm to get updated information from me. I didn't hear back from her. 3 weeks went by and in this time I sought out an attorney. Each state has a statute of limitation law on credit card debt. My state is 5 years after this time collectors can and will call and harras you for payment however they can not sue you for the limitations are exceeding the years of which they can leagally collect. He advised me if you acknoledge a debt before this time your time begins all over so be very carful answering your phone to these people you dont want time to start over and if they do send you a summons at that time contact and attorney and make an arrangement with them until them just ignore these stalkers. By the way I've NEVER recieved anything from this company EVER not even by mail. Good luck!

Jill Hargrove called my husband and said she was with a Lawfirm and was requesting payment from  their client @HSBC-

She stated that he needed to give her his debit card number to pay on a debt-

However, I'm quite sure that this is one of those "collection agencies" that buy out charge OFF's from other companies such as HSBC-

I've heard that your better off to pay to the original lender if you owe a balance cuz if you pay some of these hoax collection agencies your backing up-

She then e-mailed an offer of settlement with an Address:

They said they were VanBuren Legal office. She said she had no idea what it was about (surprise, surprise). Left a "file" number and wanted a call when the recipient was home. If you call that number, you get a machine saying it's VanBuren Legal office, and to leave your phone # and file # and they will call back within 24 hrs. Right.....
