I got a call from this MERS3/MIRS3 system at 5:28 am MTN. When it called me it stated my name and said to continue press 1, I did and it hung up on me.  I called it back and its says to enter your phone number for a message associated with your account. I did and it says there is no message.  SICK OF IRRITATING CALLS!

Got this call on my person phone and I am on the do not call list. When I checked my missed calls there was a automated mans voice  but when I pressed option for English it would not let me get any further. I texted STOP but it would not accept my text.

Amazing? Really? Perhaps you could enlighten me as to why I am on the call list? The calls I have been getting lately are for Class A CDL classes. They may be harmless, but I don't really know if they are or not. They sound like a scam to me. Once I got a call from a man whose voice was so garbled I could not even recognize what he was saying... but it sounded like it had something to do with a trucking company. These phone calls are disruptive and annoying. I have no interest in attaining a Class A CDL and I don't know how I got on their so called list.

Furthermore, I know some computer generated phone calls can come from any phone number the initiating phone caller chooses, so you should be aware that just because you get harmless phone calls from this number, doesn't mean that everyone else who gets calls from this same number has the same experience as you.

I think you have your numbers mixed up. This is a automative system that is used in companies to notify you to evactuation your location.  Our company was testing it today.  Its not a fraudulant phone number and you will not get charged anything for it...  I guess your point of your post is to just say something because you know everyone will believe what you say.
Well on this paticular one I can say its not fraudulant.  If you get a call from this phone number contact your admin/HR to get details.

I received two calls from this number, about an hour apart.  It's a recorded message about truck driver job positions.

I work for the County and all our lines rang this morning to tell us an important message, which is currently an exercise notification. I guess the department decide to activate this phone service to notify all employees by office line and personal cell phones to keep us updated and prepared. I had to press "1" to verify that it was my name being called and it had already identified the call as coming from the Dept. I work for.

I got two calls from this number today. I'm self-employed and have been for a couple decades now.  No company has my number in any notification system.  My city doesn't have such a system, either. This has to be a scam.

Debt Collector
The number DOES actually appear to be one used to call back CitiBank. We got a call & message from them this morning regarding our account (which neither of us have), so I checked here first. Citi WAS identified in the message, so I was very curious to see if it was really a scam (like those messages & texts telling you that you need to contact your bank immediately *rolleyes*). I decided to go ahead & call it back, since it seemed like several people here had identified it as a legitimate CitiBank number.

Turns out, it does go to them & they were trying to contact someone I've never even heard of. The rep did ask for the phone number that they called to pull up the account & I gave it to them (I've worked in customer service before, a telephone number IS a legitimate way to pull up a customer's account if said "customer" does not have an account number, name or address) after I advised him that we don't have an account with them but had received the message. He told me they were calling for <name> and I told him I didn't know who that was. After telling him how long we'd had this number (because right after we moved in, the people who'd lived here prior managed to obtain our new number, add an 800 number to that and THEN use that number pretty much EVERYWHERE to obtain credit, enroll the kids in school, enroll in school herself & apply for jobs) he wanted to verify that the address on the account was not also linked to us. He gave me the city that the account was located in, which is very close to us so I asked for the zip (we live in a cluster of small towns that are almost interchangeable with names) & it was not the same as ours. He was very polite, he made a notation on the account that the phone number is no longer valid & he apologized profusely for both the call/message & my inconvenience at having to call & set things straight.

*I don't actually know why they called, but I'm going to assume it was because this guy hasn't paid his bill, hence the designation "Debt Collector" below.

I believe it's legit. My work informed us that we would be getting a test call in the event of emergencies.  My call stated it was from my workplace, so I was comfortable confirming the call.

When I responded, the recording said "You have an important message.  Press 1 now".  I just hang up thinking that call might be one of those calls that when you follow what the recording said, your line will be used to call international numbers and will be billed for that call.

It's absolutely amazing what comments are being written about this number. It's harmless. It is a "Big Brother" automated notification system for emergency information that my company sends out to employees. Today, the robot voice reminded that inclement weather in our area may cause delays and be cautious.

This is a legit number used to deliver widespread emergency messages.  My city used it to ask citizens stop all unnecessary watering during these drought conditions.

@yoyo - for my experience it would be to let the system know that I am 1. Who it's records say I am and 2. If I am ok after an emergency.

This is the security notification system for my old employer. A bunch of places use it so it'll show up under the same outgoing extension. FWIW, my old Employer was a US federal agency and I've gotten this call a couple times. They just haven't updated their records.

My question is:
If this is for emergency and broadcasting purpose, why they ask you to "press" any key like "0" or "1"? This is weird!?!?
