I just got a new phone number and have received calls from this toll-free number about once a week for the last 3 weeks. They never leave a message so I look up the number and it is a collection agency.

So, do you have any accounts in default? (I did as I was a victim of identity theft, but I tried real hard to clean up my credit report & finally did.) However, this was awhile ago. I've got no current accounts in default -- unless some idiot at one of the credit reporting companies didn't do a thorough job, which is possible because they have a limited ability to understand & act. It's painstaking with them -- you have to do one thing at a time. I personally believe that if they're incompetent then they ought to be removed because this is very serious business for you they're in.

They left a message with my sister-in-law.

Left a message demanding I call them back or have an attorney return their call. I've got a few defaults which have been sold time and time again to various greasy people who all make their own threats but have no grounds to act. If the first 7 people the account was sold to couldn't take legal action, why should I think this one could. If I do ever call these various numbers back, they're so impossible to work with and rude that I cant even come to a payment agreement.

One more comment. When they do leave a message, I cant understand what he's saying his name is. Nor does he explain what company he is with or what it is about. Just very demanding to have me call back. I'm just assuming its something to do with a defaulted bill.
