i was call by this sweet voice and im sure that this is a telemarketer. As giving her a respect, ive listen to her spiel, and since there is nothing to loose on my part, because they just try to give me a chance to look over a not yet active policy, that is why i agree to enrolled to the program. In my side if you are a clever person just follow the instruction and thats it...

I finally answered the number today. They had something special to offer me, since I was a valued Wells Fargo customer...Some sort of insurance that I was automatically enrolled in, and I could review it for 30 days. If I didn't like it, I could call and cancel it...What he didn't want to say, was that if we forgot to call and cancel it, we would automatically be billed $23 bucks a month. Anyway, all he needed was my address to send my packet. I'm guessing that by providing my address (which he should already have anyway, since he was *supposedly* from my mortgage company), I was implicitly agreeing to be enrolled in the insurance plan.
I refused to give him my address, and I very clearly declined to be automatically enrolled in anything, period.
I suspect that they will be calling back tomorrow.

On 8XX numbers you don't pay for the call either way but whoever owns the number pays their carrier per call even when it is to them from someone else. If any of you get bored and have time on you're hands just keep calling them and hang up a few seconds after the line stops ringing, this makes sure it was picked up on their end and they will get billed for the call. A few thousand or more calls billed might get their attention.

Call the number back directly and you will get a recorded messege and instructions on how to remove your number. Simple, took about 2 minutes.

These calls have been going on for months and I am extremely disgusted with them. Talk about annoying!!!!!!! I would like to find a way to stop them. Any ideas?

Caller today said he was from Washington Mutual and wanted to verify my address and birthday. He claimed he could sell me a million dollar life insurance policy. I refused to give him the info and he just kept reading from his script. I hung up on him and reprted this to Washington Mutual. Washington Mutual is a bank.

I just did what Reggie suggested, and Wells Fargo was very responsive. They did say that it could take up to 60 days to stop the calls. Thanks for the information.

I'm getting calls from these people too. I need something more immediate. How do I stop these people. I'm on the DNC list but that was just a waste of time.

Called the # back, tried the opt-out route. Hopefully I didn't just opt-in to even more crap calls.

Got a call from them too. I am using Broadvoice.com as my VoIP provider and it has a cool feature for forwarding unwanted numbers... They can try calling as many times as they want from now on. They are on my list and will be forwarded to 999-999-9999 :-)

It apparently is the National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittburgh, PA. If you call the number back twice, you'll get a recording telling you that they recently have tried to contact you and offering an opt out.

Several times a year I see calls like this on my caller ID. They never leave a message so I ignore them. After a couple of weeks, they stop. It really isn't annoying because I screen all my calls, don't answer those I don't recognize, and get satisfaction out of outlasting them. It's like a game, and I always win. If you get angry or annoyed, they win. They have to stop sooner or later and that's when you've beat them.

Maybe a new take on this number. After 2-3 calls every day for a couple weeks, I decided to answer it and put a stop to it. At first the voice says it is a tele-marketing co....but it isn't... at least not at my end. I waited for someone to answer and it ended up being a collection agency hunting for a girl who had a delinquent student loan. I have gotten calls from many people looking for her. They are using deception to get you to listen and then they think they have you. This girl had my phone number around 2 years ago. Of course they never believe me when I tell them she does not have this number any longer. Anyone else had a student load collection agency answer? There is no way to stop them as they bypass the phone company rules. Loopholes ya know. Maybe they will quit now.
