No a days its very common for financially sound people generally women and elder citizens to get phone calls from people claiming that you won some more $$ and then to scam them.
I got a call today, and instead of giving them the information they want i ask them to give there name, office address and phone #. I asked them to hold for a minute so i can verify there business in FBI database. Finally i told them they are a fraud and i am contacting FBI with this info. They dropped the call and never call back.
Please see details below and be careful if you get calls from ph# 876-290-3940
these people claim you won sweepstakes etc then slowly collect more information
about you and start asking for ransom. DO NOT fall into the allure of any sweepstakes
talk to police or 911 when in doubt ..sometimes they take advantage of greedy people , trap them and then ask for more ransom
The callers claims he has been specifically assigned to handle my account as i have won $35,0000 as my name has been selected along with 52 others in a sweepstake. When i asked which sweepstake, the response is i was automatically enrolled when i did some retail shopping

i am sorry to hear about the harassing calls but they did this to my parents also... they threatened to come to our house, if we did not pay up but these people are calling from jamaica. they even went as far as describing our house but after talking to them for a while, i found out that they used google earth to view pics of our house. i asked them to descibe the house and what car was in the drvieway, the car they described was a car i sold many months ago. when i told him that he was using google earth he got very upset / flustered. please tell your mom not to live in fear of these slum dwellers. i finally got the calls to end by unplugging my phone for a few days. if that does not work, you will need to get caller ID or change your number. i called the phone company to have these calls blocked but no phone companies have the ability to do this?!?! best of luck!

These people are trying to scam my elderly mother. They present themselves as officers of the law, or sometimes tell her that she has won a sweepstakes. (Both male and female operators) She doesn't have caller ID so I don't know the originating number. But they try to intimidate har into wiring money, and /or calling the phone number given above. She hides in her house w/ the curtains shut some days because they tell her that they are comeing to her house to collect the funds.
