Not sure how they got my number.  They have called five times today.  When I answer they hang up after a few seconds.  I called the number back and a female voice said "White Fences . . . our aim is to serve you" or something about service.  In the background were what sounded like a group of boistrous people.

They have been contacting me at least once a week. They always call around the same time 4:15 central standard time. I have answered several times. First, a female voice said I requested information on a home based business. The second time I immediately asked to be taken of the list. They obviously haven't removed me, because they continue to call

ok so whitefence.com is a company contracted by many different compnies like Verizon, Comcast and many more. what whitefence does is that they just place the orders for these providers and once these orders are accepted one will have to talk to the provider one signed up with that is all white fence does and if your still confused then you didnt pay attention and listen to what was being said.

Not sure how they got my number or why they are calling.

I did an internet search for this number and it came up on someone's website: Here is what it said.  From http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/mountain-internet-access.htm

"How It All Started (They Don't Do Wires)
Verizon Landline Hell
My first attempt at Internet access was with Verizon - it was hopeless beyond belief. Verizon landline is the local phone service provider for Los Gatos, CA. I tried the online signup procedure. Never do this. It is a circular horror from hell.

PHONE NUMBERS - WORTHLESS
It doesn't matter which number you call, you will still end up in la-la land.
1-877-213-1039, 1-877-213-1053, 1-877-213-1057, 1-800-483-4455

I was given a "Whitefence.com Order ID".
I was given an "Account Number".
I was given a "Confirmation Number".
I was given a "Phone Number".
None of this matters. No phone - no phone line - no connection - no visit.

- Two individuals said they would call me back. Neither ever did.

- Any person you talk to, will refer you to a person who knows less. After you think you are getting close, you get a question like, "What state are you in?" Apparently, they are all in Oz, Kansas, and have no clue about anything, except reading off of the worthless flow chart, which is designed to keep you moving, NOT to solve your problems.

- Each person will tell you a different story. SIX people, in my case. You CANNOT EVER talk to the SAME person twice, because this would create a "responsibility", and accountability. This trick/ technique is used by many of the large monopolies' call centers, to avoid ever being "pinned down". This ensures that nothing ever gets resolved, just moved around, until you give up in frustration. Problem solved!

- Every person will tell you "the computer is down" - this is standard, according to one employee - if they don't know what to do, they just say "the computer is down", or "we are having computer issues". "Try again later." NOT. The same bull, over and over. Certifiable hopelessness.

Event Reminder
I received a call from them today to confirm the switch of my comed service from one address to another. The first time they called they didn't leave a message. I called them back to see where the call was coming from. When the lady answered she stated it was a courtesy call and didn't try to sell me anything. Normally I wouldn't have even bothered and egnored the phone calls, but those telemarketers are persistant. Lucky for me I did call them back or I wouldn't have electricity in my new place tomorrow : )

I just received two calls today from this number and was very confused! After reading some of the comments, I realized that it was because I just signed up for ComEd to be connected at my new apartment. They might be calling to make sure I want the service because I signed up online?

I tried connecting services for my elderly mom at an assisted living facility in another state. The home suggested sbc, so ignorant, in a hurry to do something right for my mom, me, lined up her phone, etc. without questioning what connectaphone is (I haven't had to get a new land line for over 10 years....I had no idea how complicated a simple phone line order can be!!)....First they ask for personal info, then when the service isn't received from the provider, the provider has to verify the info whitefence already is supposed to have given the provider. How is it my 'personal' info is safe?, and btw I was wondering if and when the telemarketeers would begin calling because I used their service (and also had to cancel what whitefence 'ordered')......Thanks for the venting arena!!!

You can block numbers by dialing *60 after they hang up. You have to do it before anyone else calls your number.

This place called me 3 times today, between 4pm and 8pm, but they wont leave a message. I recently changed my address for ComEd (among other places) and from reading other posts here, that seems to be the culprit. Will they stop calling, I wonder. Seems ridiculous.

I used this web site to set up new utilites service. It was useful as it showed comparison of the utilities/services costs. http://www.connectutilities.com/wf/

The site says it is manged by WhiteFense. This phone number is the listed contact number on their web site.

This co Whitefence calls me too 24/7...someone earlier in these posts got it right---I ordered phone service online and this company apparently is the one that hosted the site.  My number is registered on the Do Not Call List but apparently that is no longer in effect since I ordered service from one of their companies!
