Wrong idea. Once you call them up, then that is the legal confirmation that they have the right person. This is precisely why debt collectors make it a point to always ask you to very your name before they confirm that they are in fact a debt collector. What you need to do is get a copy of your credit report. Once you receive it, mail out a form letter asking them to verify the debt, also requesting to cease and desist all forms of communication other than mail. They will not be legally allowed to ever call you again. They have 30 days to send you a letter either verifying the debt or not verifying the debt. When you receive the letter, mail a copy to all credit reporting agencies. They will in turn remove all items that have not been verified from your credit report. Whatever has been verified, do not pay in full, wait till you get a settlement offer, usually 1/2 of the original debt. Once that is paid off mail payment evidence to all cr agencies and have the debts wiped off. This entire process could take 1-3 months. Look up the forms letter online.

This phone number is a debt collector by the name of ESCALLATE, LLC.  In my case, they are calling in regard to what my insurance didn't pay for an emergency room visit @ Mercy Hospital in Chicago.  This was just a routine visit as I was very ill feeling from chest congestion that wouldn't go away where I received no tests what-so-ever, a five minute look-over to receive anti-biotics for a sinus infection and I was charged and arm and a leg.  I have excellent insurance & I've been to emergency rooms before & was never sent to a collection agency/my insurance covered everything.  I guess every hospital can dictate their own fees, but this hospital is ridiculous.  Thanks to them, this s*** is probably on my credit report.

Someone called me from this number, stating that they had a doctors bill, but would not tell me, unless i gave them my social security number and date of birth? This is illegal...

THEY CALLED MY CELL PHONE WHILE I WAS AT WORK, IT SHOWED THEY LEFT A VOICE MAIL WHEN I LISTENED TO THE MESSAGE IT DIALED THEM BACK.  NO MESSAGE, AND WHEN THEY ANSWERED SHE ANSWERED WITH A HELLO WHEN I ASKED WHO IT WAS AND WHAT THIS WAS IN REGARDS TO SHE WANTED MY NAME. LOL NOT HAPPENING

couple of times a day saying call us at this number were a death collector when I called them they tell me I owed them money because bla bllaa blaa  & they actually doing this for somebody else  or they took over youre account  you owed them, now  they blaa blaa bllaaa will NOT  really tell you who they are  or who you owe to n or whos bill you didn't pay they transfer you to another agent put you on hold so they get this information agents LIE about theyre names  or theyr passion in the company like theyre all supervisiors  next agent I ever comes  same thing over & over again don't bbother to get the agents name or possession  when you call back those names are passwords to p[lay you  youull talk to several different people with the same name  but they all got different voices THIS IS AN ABUSIVE HARRASIVE SCAM   you spose to believe them & give them money just like that thinkinking you  for got to p[ay an bill or you were never billed for theyre services rendered  BUT WHOM   ?????????

yes they call me all the time to my cell phone. I have not been working, as I am a long time f!@@3 up  (my fault. As this had bee ny case for many years , I decided I had had enough and looked into a way to change it. I found government grants for school as long as you stay out of trouble and get good grades. so on my fourth year at the university I statrted getting numbness in the back of my skull. I let it slide as I figured i must have slept wrong or something , you know getting opld shi@! happens. I let it slide for a while . As time progesssed the munbness moved into my fingers and finally my neck . I statred to worry, but I also didnt wasnt to keep ruing my credit and give a the city a bill that shouldnt be thier problem. the next day it moved to my throat  by end of day it moved to my chest  and started jolting me (very odd) I decided it was time or I may actually die. I went in and told them my symptoms  trouble swallowing ,numb fingers constricting chest  arm n leg weakness blurring vision , muscle spasms. I got to the hospital and they immediately took me into the er th very first night er doctor said "well Im not really sure,your levels all seem normal(sfter blood urine stools and a checkup) my best guess would be MS? So I end up getting admitted andgetting everything from a spinal tap and mri's and cat scans and 32 vials of blood drawn and  7-10 days(cant remember ) in a bed they came to me and said we think its MS. the whole time the doctors treated me like I was a joke grinning and smorking every time I saw them ( as I am not attractive to look at sorry imn not brad pitt) Anyways after being treated with a 5 day steroid treatment  differerred me to the brain center that requires a great deal of money that I do not have and ins co.'s will not insure me . Now I get all kinds of calls about paying , paying paying. what kills me is the rude a** doctor that treated me told me if I wanted to know about MS look it up , so I do and poof the exact symptoms are have are the PRIME symptoms thanks for 40 k in bills for nothing! ALL UMC wanted was to find a way to rack up bills ( they will get paid wether its from me or the city what do they care?. (that was while I was still in the hosp) GREAT F-ing service you douches!  

Company keeps calling, have requested taking number off list and am also on DO NOT CALL LIST

I received a call from a female about 11:05am for a person that does not live here. She asked if iI could take a message I told  her the person comes by sometimes. She asked if this is a good number to reach the person I said no. She asked if she should take my number off of their calling list, I said yes. She asked me to verify my number, repeat the number she just dialed, I refused to give her my number...she called me. The caller said they are going to continue to call here regardless. I consider her to be rude and harassing..I discontinued the call and hung up. I will notify the do not call agency..12/13/2013

These people are calling me constantly but wont tell me why or where they are calling from. They try to get my personal information. They don't speak good English, I can hardly understand them. As far as I know, I don't even have any doctors bills to be sent to collections. I think they're a fraud company.

When they call simply and nicely say you have the wrong number. They have to remove you're number from the calling list its the law. Yes they are a debt collection agency and are very evasive and tricky about there intent until they think they have the right person on the phone then wham u owe us thousands in unpaid bills how do u wish to pay speach! Simply say u have the wrong number. Stop calling my phone.

I AGREE .THEY CALL ME MANY TIMES PER DAY WHILE I AM AT WORK. I CAN'T TELL THEM OFF LIKE I WANT TO.THEY NEED TO STOP CALLING ME.

I worked for Escallate LLC for almost a year.They buy old, charged off accounts from a lot of hospitals and doctors offices. I wasn't able to continue my employment with them because of their collection practices & their attitude about the people we were calling.
In order to put a stop to their calls on the paid in full bill, you will need to get either a copy of your final payment bill showing -0- balance and/or a copy of the check that paid off the balance. You also need to keep a copy of all your correspondence with them and keep a record of all calls. The next time they call you, tell them that they are never to call you at "this number" again, and then by law, they can only contact you by mail. DO NOT EVER GIVE THEM YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS!

I have been receiving calls from these folks for months.  I am an unemployed patient that found out two years ago that  have an incurable, debilitating disease.  I survive by the kindness of others, because I own a very small "shack" of a house, I do not qualify for assistance... am in my mid-fifties, with no retirement.  I was always in sales, earning commission, and have exhausted all my savings.  now, I admit that I owe money, but have no way to satisfy the debt, and all the calls and harassment in the world will not get them their money.  not sure what the answer is, but, I have stopped answering and explaining my situation.  it just depresses me even more.

Hey, don't lose hope! Everything will be okay one day, just keep praying and remember that "God assigns the difficult battles to his strongest warriors" ( not the exact words, but something to that effect )

Just finished getting a call from this number, they said it was a " Debt collectors agency" they asked for my day of birth, to verify it was " me " and I nicely asked who were they representing, the lady wouldn't say, all she said was that " we sent you a letter in the mail, just call us back when you're ready" and hung up. Isn't that kind of weird??

Hi this company is VERY RUDE. I offered to pay what I really "can not afford" to pay. According to the RUDE associate at this company my offer was NOT REASONABLE! She proceeded to raise her voice. I informed her that she has obviously taken a course in how to be RUDE to people who are experiencing a hard time. This companies lack of sympathy and respect has placed them on the BOTTOM of my list of medical debts to pay. I lost my job and ended up in the emergency room due to stress related illnesses. I am just starting to see my way out.  Unfortunately, I have just been informed that my temporary job that I landed 6 months ago will be laying off workers in about a month. I pray that I will not be one of them. In the mean time, I am trying to catch up on delinquent accounts only to be chastised by a VERY RUDE agent of this company that has obviously lost all sense of human compassion. Much success to all of you when dealing with this "company".

stop calling this number, phone is being monitored

I did the calling this time, and sent them this email,
"On Fri 2/15/13 I was denied a home loan because your co. has 2 apparent debits on me.
I called your #, gave my name, SSI #, and NO ACCOUNT OR DEBIT WAS FOUND!
I ran my credit report from all 3 reporting co and nothing showed up! I will give you till 2/22/13 to provide information on this erroneous claim, or I will file a complaint with Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/ConsumerComplaint "

The keep calling, and leave a message.  Tells me if I'm not the person they are looking for, to Hang up.  If I hang on, I acknowledge that I'm that person, but it's a recorded message on my voicemail.  So they keep calling looking for someone other than me and I've has this number for 7 years and it's not even the person who had it before me.  Fortunately those finally stopped.  

Each time I try to call them back I get a fast busy.  

How stupid are these people.

Recieve phone calls from this number at all hours of the day trying to collect a debt, even though I don't have any debts. Finally talked to a real person and told them that my father is an FBI Agent and if they didn't stop calling I would be reporting them to him. Hopefully that does the trick!

I was called by this collections agency for past due workers comp injury. I told them I was not responsible. The man was rude and ignorant. Claimed I was responsible for yadda yadda yadda. I said No, please call my attorney. I gave him her name and number. Again he tried to strong arm me. Wrong move. I repeated the name and number of my attorney. Again he became more nasty. I laughed. I said thank you for calling. And I hung up.
What a mean little man.
This harrassment must stop. How can you do this type of work and sleep at night?

I get calls from them all the time and they keep asking me my birthday. I told them I will not give them any info over the phone, then he said then expect more call from us until you do, then hung up.  I called back and asked them why won't they send me the bill in the mail, they asked my address, I said if I had any debt then you should have that info. They won't tell me what the debt is for till I give them my birthday. I think this sounds like a joke to me. I just want them to me a bill that's all.
