I've called Comcast. They say this is NOT legitimate and do not give them any information.

Just spoke to Comcast and they said there is no need to verify your physical address. The girl transferred me to comcast but did not give any identification of herself as a Comcast employee. Did not say her name or anything. Only said that they needed to have me added to the account because my grandmother is deceased. This is a phishing scam, do not give out your information.

This is a legit Comcast tech support number.  They recently called me me from this number to discuss a trouble ticket that I had filed the day before regarding a DVR problem. Under "Call Type" I left it as "Unknown" since none of the choice apply.  If you have Comcast service you should take the call.

This number called me;  but since my Caller I.D. said Unknown Caller, I did not answer.  After seeing the earlier post here stating that it is a legitimate Comcast number, I called the number directly.  It is the Comcast Resolution Center who was responding to a tech. issue.

This is a LEGIT number from Comcast. I had trouble with my online account and had spent an hour on their customer service 1 (800) number and no one could help. They said they would send it to their National Tier level Technical department and would call within 48 hours. Less than 24 hours later, this 877 number called. At first I was skeptical, but they had the name of the previous account holder who switched it over to me.Within a few minutes, what the regular Technical department could not do, a lady from this 877 Comcast number fix my issue. Therefore, this is a legit number

Unsure if this is legit. just called Comcast and they said someone did try to call me to do a residential verification but they couldn't explain why. Then they sent me over to their residential verification dept and they said that no one there should have reached out to me. I'm wondering if someone who works there is being paid by a dept collection company to seek out addresses.

it's a scam, a company did this a few years ago with the same story saying they were the phone company.. come on. they can verify everything with their computer. Tell them to contact your attorney and start to give a phone number.. they'll hang up.. if they do that then you KNOW it's not legit

They claimed they were from Comcast and needed to verify our address on their files.       The name displayed on our caller ID was not Comcast.      It was "Softwarematters"

That's B.S.  If they want to verify the proper address, all they have to so is check the USPS website.  I use it all the time at work.  I think that's a big line.  Besides, they mail the bill to my address,...and if they really wanted to verify, they could put a message on the bill or something.

I got the same call and feel the same way.  They installed the service.  Why would they need to verify my address.  Besides, the message has been hitting my phone at EXACTLY the same time every day, and is very obviously recorded.  Nope.  Sounds like a scam.  And if not, then they just want me to call back to sell me something more.  No thanks.

This number is legit. I contacted Comcast directly (using the chat on their web site) and he said yes, they do verify physical addresses this way. He also said that he could tell I was called 3 times recently (which was true). I told him this phone number (the 877 one) and he confirmed it was part of Comcast.

I was not able to update my address with him directly, he said I had to call the number. I called the number and she said the reason for the call is that in one area of their database, it showed my address as XXX Streetname Way, and in another area, it said XXX SOUTH Streetname Way, and since they didn't match, they needed to know which one was correct. I gave her part of my address and said, "is that the one you have?" and then she finished, and said, "Yes, XXX South Streetname Way." So they did already have my address in their system, she confirmed that by reading it back to me. She just wanted to know whether or not the "South" needed to be there since there was a discrepancy in their database.

You mean to say that you gave your address and they said, "yup, that's what we have on file?" Because if that's the case, then how do you know that they really already had your address? You gave the address first and then they agreed?

I just received about three of those calls and then called the regular Comcast phone number. They said they did have it in their records that somebody from their office was trying to reach me to verify my address. She said, though, that they usually call only when there is upcoming service or something along those lines. So, I don't know why they were calling to verify information but it was a legit Comcast number.

I doubt it's a scam. They asked me for my phone number and then asked me to confirm the address they already had for me.

Same thing, they called and said they wanted me to call back and verify my physical service address.  They had my home address. I'm not calling back, since they already know my service address since they did the install.  Felt like a scam.
