Your not the onlly one they are calling. They have called my family as well saying it was an urgent legal matter. I believe it is an identity theft scam. Make a police report. Thats what I did and notified the credit bureaus to protect myself. Im mean why wouldn they call you if they really were a real company?

I had a voice message tonight frome someone I could not understand their name and they either said office of CRA or CIA.  They said they were given my number as a contact for someone else that I knew (we'll call her Jane) and they needed a call back from Jane or her registered representative ASAP because it was a very very urgent matter regarding #308332.  They called from 310-601-7244 with a return number of 877-285-8762.

Left message told us it was urgent. When we called and asked who they were they refused to tell us then hung up on us.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I was also contacted by this company. After a discussion with them telling them that I'm willing to pay the debt but that I need to know how much the debt is and where it was obtained they hung up on me. When I called back they hung up again. I am more then willing to pay legitimate debts that I have not resolved. I am a successful business man who was at one time an unsuccessful business man, so I have the money to settle what I owe based on old and forgotten debts from long ago. However, if this company is not going to provide basic information needed to any person to settle their debt than that screams "illegitimate" or "improper".

Moronic buffoons such as yourself who are part of the social-Darwinistic, right-winged, conservative wingnuts believe that everyone is supposed to blindly believe garbage like this without questioning its origin or validity. It's THAT attitude along with deregulation of the credit and banking industry that gives inertia to otherwise illegal or harrassing practices. These people are in a state of panic because laws will change soon and accountability is on its way. They will no longer be able to follow old practices that gave them protection.

Legitimate collectors will ALWAYS provide you with substantiated information in an effort to obtain even a small portion of money you may owe. If these people are so quick to hang up on someone like you (or myself) who begin to ask questions, then what does that tell you? What it tells me is that these folks are liars. Liars can only be dealt with through honesty. Once you start asking honest questions, they all fold like a house of cards.

Take the person's advice who wrote how to stop the calls. Look at what your states statute of limitations is and use it to fight back with your rights.

Or you could pay your debts and help get this economy out of the mess you got it in by defaulting on all of your loans

Like some of the others a message was left on my in laws voicemail today stating that it was regarding a legal matter - 'Berkley' was her name and she said she needed to speak with me regarding a legal case she is working on.  Honestly I am in total agreement with the lady above regarding the statue of limitations etc.  I think many people are defaulting on credit and the credit collection agencies are pulling strings to make money.  I know for a fact that any old debt I have is over 7 years old, off my credit report now, and past the statue of limitations for my state.  I won't pay them a dime if in fact this is a collection call because it would restart the statue of limitations regarding activity on an account (even the phone call back to them could do this per credit repair companies I have worked with in the past-I was in the mtg industry so I dealt with this all the time).  Anyone within my recent 7 year history of rebuilding my credit has all my information and would have no reason to leave messages with family.  Block your credit report from inquiries if you want to-my guess is they are digging up old files of people that are now in better positions and hoping they make money off them.

Watch out for this company.  They upset my parents over nothing.  The people that work for this company are scum, bottom eaters.

I received a call wanting me to get in touch with someone who I have no clue how to get in touch with.  They made it sound like an emergency (life or death).  I called the number myself to inquire and spoke with a Richard Adams, in the back ground I heard him say "Oh, my GOD this woman again", first of all don't use the LORD's name like that.  I would be ashamed of your job young man.  All you did was upset me about someone and something you could not give me any information about.  I know the privacy act and this was way out of line.

Its 100% completely a scam! Just hang up on this fraudulant team of con-artists! A man named Peter called me first from cell number 215-279-9325 and left return call number 877-285-8762 saying he needed my statement for an investigation. Do not give them any personal information!!!

Hello All, I hope everyone who visited this page and left a comment returns to read this very imporant info. So I called these people from  877-285-8762 aka CRA Associates, They claim to work with the governement "Thats a lie".  They will ask you all this personal info. dont agree with it just "K" that can go either way. So they told me that my old credit card account was closed and that I  needed to pay off the balance.The law states once your account is closed and it is past the statue of limitations thet legally can no longer even call.They said if I didnt pay they would report me to the IRS with a 1099C ( This means you have ot claim the debt as income and file taxes on it) So they are trying to get you o pay the debt because these greedy fools want your money. Now this is something cannot be done when an account is closed. They should simply report it to the IRS as a 1099C. If your entire debt outweighs your entire assets you can file a 982 form and claim you are Insolvent which means you dont have the funds to pay this off. Now after this I spoke with the IRS and they refered me to call the State that I live in and find out what the statue of limitations is for my state. I then called the Stae of where I live and for my state it is 4 years after the last payment was made. These people are so desperate that they will even try to make you make a small payment this way they can reopen the account and bill you. But remeber, once the account is closed they shouldnt even be calling you about this, not the Attorney General of my state contridicted this he said they can call all they want. The man at the State office continued on to say that it is "FRAUD" and a " SCAM" and if they say they want to take you to court the let them because they wont.
I also spoke with someone from the Stats Attorney Generals Ofice he said call them and ask the for thier address so I can send them a letter stating that I prefer them not to call me I asked them what if they dont give me an address? He said then hang up everytime they call. THIS IS A SCAM PROTECT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!

A word of advice for everyone is to be smart about this. The same thing happened to me and the best thing you can do for yourself is protect yourself by contacting your 3 credit agencies and make a police report. Protect yourself as well as your identity!

Someone called my sister in law urging her to have me call them back at the number listed. This is the second time this has happened and it's just plain harassment. If they call me, that's one thing, because I can tell them off myself.  Why are they calling in-laws, asking for me and making it sound like an urgent legal matter? These people need to have their harassment scam shut down. Who the heck is CRA anyway?

Hello, I received a call from these individuals. I am very nervous. Since you are a state trooper have you found any information about these guys. I'm actually worried about my identity being stolen or worse.

CRA called my in laws house saying it was regarding a legal matter and it was urgent. After reading everyones reports I am very nervous. I have small children and I am afraid that this could become a danger to me or even my family.

Some guy called my father and gave him a case number. He also mentioned my Maiden name and age! Very scary! I told my father not to call back and not answer as they have his unlisted cell phone number!!! I don't owe anyone any money so I know it could not be a creditor. I just ran my credit so I do not know who would have an address from 1998, my married name, age and dad's cell number. Scary stuff.

I had a voice message today from someone looking for _____ Doe or her registered rep asap because it was an urgent matter regarding #812071 and to call 877-285-8762, when I called back  the frst time I was disconnected before talking with anyone. Then I called and asked for the name of the company, he was hesitant and told me CRA but he would not provide any other info, stating I had called them became argumentative. On my third call I was told they were located in Virginia and they were a private legal firm doing work for the government, he told me I must be hiding from somone, he then became argumentative when I asked for more information about them and final hung up. They were looking for an 80 year old lady. This really disturbs me.

Received call from 414-433-1630 requesting that I call them back at 877-285-8762 immediately regarding my ex-husband. When I called they said they had me listed as an emergency contact. The guy was very rude and nasty with me when I was trying to explain that I had not spoken to the person in over 10 years. I found out that they had also contacted my parents and told them the same thing.

Received a message with a name that could not be understood, when returned phone call and claimed that did not know that person they said that I would not be contacted again.

Called back curious to know what company they were a guy answered then said that they were "CRA Processing" then hung up on me...called back and he answered again and said that he intentionally hung up and did it again...I called another time and then he said that he was going to report me for harassment when all I wanted to know was why we were listed on their contact list. Number could not give me straight answer

I just got a message from Sara at CRA who stated my wife's name and then left a message that she just got a file on her desk and that she need me to call her back immediately.  The number that she called from was (757) 392-0355, which has been linked to several suspious call.

There are numerous agencies looking into these calls, to include myself.  I'm a State Trooper and will be putting out a press release to warn the public in my state to not give their information to these people
