My daughter received call rom 877.306.9111 and told me she had entered a contest and was one of the finalists. But she had to be an adult with so much salary, etc. I called "Debbie" and yes she said we had one of four prizes and wanted to setup appointment for my wife and I. We both had to show up. The place to show up at an appointment was in Georgetown. How do we know this is a scam?

I just got a call from this number, too. Same story as stated by everyone else. I didn't leave a message, but that woman named "Debbie" called me back. She said that her name was Debbie and she was calling from a prize claim center. I told her that I Googled the number that she called me from, both the 877-306-9111 and the 219-944-2279 number and told her the information I found. So I asked her if she knew what information is on Google about those numbers. She was quiet. So I asked her again. She said yes, and thanked me for my time. I also told her that I wanted to be removed from any list of hers I was on and if she called back I would be reporting her to the proper authorities.

I got the same message today with the same location and two different date and time.
My husband knew it was a scam! It sounded really convincing to me. He called and left messages... with a lot of questions. Isn't it odd that the 1877 number is her own because her answering message doesn't say the company name and doesn't say her name but it's her!

You know this is a scam.  I hope the state Attorneys General look into this and prosecute people who are trying to steal money from others in such a bad economy.  What kind of people work the phones for these scams.  Shame on them!!

Hey, they can't even get their stories straight !  My voicemail said someone in my household had won from a contest in August. Call back on 877-306-9111. I phoned back, left message ( for Debbie ) and she called back from 219-944-2279 ( ID - Prize Claim Center )...she offered two appointment dates in Washington DC for this Sunday or next Weds...I asked her specifically who submitted the entry and for which store, in this case. She said it could have been a charge entry sweepstakes for Kohls, Target or WalMart. In order to receive one of the four prizes ( as I was a finalist ! )...she verified I was over 28, earned more than $ 60,000 per year combined and was married.....hmmmmmm...sounds familiar, eh ? I asked her about the August entry and she said, oh, this was for a special holiday Cold Cash Give-A-Way....whart are the odds that me and my wife would be anywhere near a Kohls, Target or Walmart between Thanksgiving and Christmas ????? Why couldn't the prize award be from JIMMY's Fish Bait & Tackle,,,guess it would narrow things a bit....SCAM

I just got a call from "Debby"...she said that I was a winner in the Cool Car Cold Cash prize that I supposedly entered in January.  I don't remember entering a contest, but then again there's alot I don't remember.  :o)  She said I won one of the top 4 prizes, but there is a deadline so I need to call soon.  She mentioned me by name, and told me to call 877-306-9111.  Oh well I'm not going to call back.

Debbie also told me they drew out 75 Names and I was guaranteed one of the 4 she listed. I think they give away a lot of vacations, Of which I don?t want and don?t have the time to take anyway.

I checked, Grand Discovery  in Asheville NC has an A- with The BBB
"An excellent rating. A company with this rating may not rate higher because of a greater number of rate-lowering factors, but we do not consider them to be factors that would likely adversely affect consumer transactions."

Still not going to presentation.

I got a call saying we were the winner of a drawing Cool Car Cold Cash Giveaway, and needed to call back to verify our info. I called her back and talked to Debbie, she was very nice. She told me we were guaranteed one of 4 prizes a car worth 45,000 or the cash,  $2500 cash,  a Celeb Vacation, or a 32" flat screen TV. She gave me a location where I could pick up my prize and gave me 2 dates and 2 timeslots when I could pick it up. My husband, the very skeptical person he is, thought it was a scam. I was still un convinced. So I called Debbie back, she was again very nice. She told me I would need to bring 2 forms of ID and 1 major credit card  and sit through a 90 min presentation for Grand Discovery, and then we would get our prizes. She told me that they would only need to see my credit card I wouldn?t actually need to use it and it wouldn?t leave my hands when they looked at it. I asked her if I could just bring my cards statement to prove I had a credit card she said no.  She said there would be no pressure to buy just come and get our prize after the presentation. She said all they want us to do is brag on the company.  Here is a link to some reviews from their web site. http://www.insiderpages.com/b/15237521546

It is a 4 hour drive for me round trip I don?t think I?ll go.

I just got a call from a "Debbie" saying I either won a car or the cash value of the car. I also will get a bonus gift a blackberry pearl. She told me to go to 901 31st street NW Washington DC 20007 or the other address was 3050 K Street Washington DC 20007 either Wednesday or Thursday at 5:45 or 7:45 to claim my prize. What a bunch of BS! thank God for this website! It's definitely a scam

Wow thank god for this website! I got a call on July 14, 2009 too, at about 3 or 4pm. A lady named "Jessica" left a message on my house phone saying I was a finalist for one of four prizes ($40K car [or cash value], $2500 cash, 32in tv, or a celebrity style vacation. I called back and spoke with someone named" Debbie". [Note: "Jessica" called from a 219 number while "Debbie" was to be called back on this 877 number]. Anyways, they said since I wasn't 25 years old (I'm 20) my parents would have to verify me at this "Claims Center" and that no "kids" can follow. Anyways, I looked up both numbers online and one was to Gary, IN the other "Unpublished". The only reason I believed the lady was because it sounded like she said "KOHLS" instead of "Cools". All day today my house phone had received seven calls from this "New Jersey" 973 number saying someone at this house was approved for grants! Can you same SCAM! Thank you guys for keeping people alert of the more detailed scams!

Event Reminder
At 10:00 pm on 07.14.09 (today) I received a call which went direct to voice mail. The message was from Sara and she sounded like she was about 10 years old. Yippee! I was one of five winners in a drawing held this past January. I needed to call her back by Thursday, July 17 in order to claim a car or $45,000 cash. Yeah, sure. I thought these kinds scams had become more technically advanced and moved on the the internet, you know the ones I mean; barrister from Nigeria, needs help to disburse funds left to me by someone I never knew, send money for fee to release the inheritance, etc, etc, etc. I guess the scammers that called all of us were just starting out and didn't have the funds yet to go online. I guess you could say I have too much time on my hands, but I got a little curious about who these scammers were, so I went on line to gather more info. With a free reverse phone look-up I tracked the number from which the call was made and the toll free number I was to call. The originating call was from (219) 945-0686 and is a landline belonging to Valencia M. Gill in Hobart, IN. I'm seriously considering calling her to let her know what I think about this type of call. The number she left as a call back was (877)306-9111 and all I could find out about it was that it was assigned to a business of some sort, but I wasn't going to pay to find out which business it belonged to just to satisfy my twisted curiosity. In a way, I wish this actually had been an email solicitation so I could blast them with my reply. I don't get too many of that type of email any more because word must have gotten out that I reply to these emails with either texts or attachments containing my own special scam files. These files (I save them as my own, personal scam documents) are the nastiest, scummiest, most disgusting emails I've ever read or viewed (none of which are illegal). They are the best of the worst. I've kept about 50 of them and believe me, they work! I never get another of those bogus scheme emails from that scammer again.

Well if all of us got phone calls from this person then I would think that someone would have already reported her and this company for harrasing phone calls. I know I am tired of getting these phone calls and are going to do something.

I received a message from a Hillary that said I had won a prize and to call her back. I did and she told me I had either won a car or the cash equivalent of $45,000.00. She scheduled me for an appointment to claim the prize which was at an address in Aventura Florida. I thought it was very fishy, considering I don't remember even entering a contest and I would have to listen to a presentation, so I pressed for a name of the company offering the prize and was told Global Travel. I Googled it and it was a travel agency soliciting for people to become travel agents. The address was for a Marriott. Sounds like an Amway type thing to me. I will not be keeping the appointment.

I just got an automated message telling me I had one of 4 prizes and to call this number back.  When I called I got a voice mail saying to leave my call back number.  Hillary called me back saying where to go to claim my so called prize and said that I had until Thursday to do it. Sounds very fishy that we are all grand prize winners.
