I know that..I received a letter with a substantial amount saying that I was owed. I would rather pay 10% if someone can find it...i have checked the unclaimed missing moneys and other things
MJG 2013-09-08 00:51:20 Unknown
Are you kidding me? You actually want to pay someone - A STRANGER - to see if you have money coming????? Every state has a website and most have a link to click to find "lost/unclaimed funds". Hotmail is a free email address that anyone can use - and that person has nothing to do with 800 notes.

Hello
I was wondering if you are still offering your services for refund money. Please let me know

THIS IS NOT A SCAM PEOPLE. DO NOT comment on something you know nothing about.
You ARE owed money if you get a letter. The question is can you find it yourself instead of paying these idiots 25 or 50% of YOUR money. They find these amounts in unclaimed property, FHA/HUD overpayments, pension funds, county appraisal districts, and other places. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. If you cannot find it, I will gladly do it for ten percent. THAT is not an outrageous fee like these companies are asking.
Curious Clay 2011-12-13 15:55:38 Unknown
That makes sense, especially since the last line of the letter indicates that use of their service could result in "savings of thousands of dollars in future years.

I have received a similar card, but the phone number is 877-862-0013, stating I have a recovery of $9,431.88. I called & they said they would take 50% but wouldn't give any more details over the phone. I have agreed to let someone come see me tomorrow as I was very curious, although I could have gone to their office - I am now really worried about ID theft. They are asking for a copy of ID & car registration. Do you think I should cancel the appointment? I have searched online & cannot find this company listed in either Austin or Houston and there is no website on the card. The stamp has not been through the postal system & I thought it was really odd that such confidential information would be on an open card! I would appreciate some guidance.
KevN'sync 2011-11-12 01:54:16 Unknown
yeah they wanted half of the money so i told them to Have a nice day and i went to http://txcpa.state.tx.us and im getting all my cash directly from austin for FREE
txroadking 2011-07-25 22:35:38 Unknown
This is really not a SCAM.
They are most likely "helping" you recoup overpaid property taxes. But instead of involve the Refund Recovery Bureau and them keeping half of your refund, check out this story from Channel 11: http://www.khou.com/home/Do-You-Have-A-Proper ... -114184734.html
Just fill out the APPLICATION FOR RESIDENTIAL HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION, and mail it in. (13013 Northwest Freeway, Houston, Texas 77040-6305)

So, what agency were you overpaying? They called me and I checked...not owed any money from any taxing agency.

Hello Fellow Texans,
According to Letter's legit, but searching for unclaimed funds shouldn't cost you a cent! Above is a link to further clarify this issue.
Personally, the document looks legit. However, I am always skeptical about any scams!
I'll proceed with Katie Fairbank's directions. After which, I'll make a follow-up posting of how things turn out...
Take care,
-Jeff

received a card in the mail from Refund Recovery Bureau.
Ferds 2011-06-06 03:06:26 Unknown
I received the letter indicates that I have a refund $2,600.00. This is definitely a scam! 1) No postmark by post office 2) Address mentioned is a tow truck company 3) 1877-369-6090 is a skype number 4) Why they want you be in the office in order to claim the refund, if they want to give the refund, they can send it anytime... Use your head...

Rider 2011-04-05 14:15:04 Unknown
If they are charging you 50% for something you can do yourself free, it IS a scam and you are the idiot.
ford50killa 2011-03-23 18:58:49 Unknown
I checked the website of Texas unclaimed properties and come up with nothing. How else can you research so I dont have to give them half of mine. I am leary about letting someone to my home as I cant make there office hours. I'd like to just find this myself so I dont have to give them half! its a scam as its my money!!!
Salomon 2011-03-18 03:36:59 Unknown
I also received the same messge and I am sure it is a scam to obtain your identity and you know what is next.

Homeowner 2011-02-26 17:16:47 Unknown
Each and everyone one of you who assumed it was a scam are idiots. Try to not jump to conclusions next time. You have libeled a good company. I used them and I am very happy with the results.
Resourceful 2010-12-31 19:10:35 Unknown
****Amount that is owed to you is not a scam, but the 50% commission that RRB wants is a scam if you let them take it. I recd a post card stating $4K was owed to me. I did 5 hours of research for types of overpayments or refunds owed to me. First, i found $1K owed to my aunt whom passed away 10 years ago. Second, I found $100 owed to my grandmother whom passed 25 years ago. Thirdly, I found $300 owed to my Dad whom passed last year. I paid $4 to unclaimedmoneyregistration.com and they emailed me the government claim documents for the monies to be sent to me. I had to subscribe to some type of service for $8 monthly to move on but cancelled that a few days later. However, they couldnt find the $4K. Then I remembered I refinanced my home through a different mortgage company 4 years ago. Contacted Countrywide Mortgage who is now bank of america, and there it was, an escrow refund check that I never recd. They cut a new check and I recd it in 8 business days. I found the $4K and almost $1500 more along the way.

thanks for posting what this was about, homeowner.
we got the same postcard and i was pretty sure we didn't have any refund owed to us, but i appreciate your taking the time to research AND report back. happy new year!
homeowner 2010-12-22 19:20:52 Unknown
I met with a rep from this company today to see what it was about. They are checking to see if you have filed a homestead exemption (you have probably just recently moved). All you have to do is contact your taxing authority and if you are eligible get the form and file it yourself. It is real $$$ if it is owed to you they are just going to file it for you for 50%.

I also received a letter from the "Refund Recovery Bureau" dated Decmber 8, 2010, and ran accross your website. It looks very much like a scam to me. Joe Barret signature at the bottom appears to be froma 3rd grader's print job.
