I started this posting over 2 months ago and I have yet to hear anything from them. It is a SCAM!!!

i do know that drs offices can file theft of service charges on you if they feel like it because i had a warrant for a dental bill copay a few years ago... is this really a scam?


A warrant, as in an arrest warrant?  If someone told you that, they were lying.  You can't be arrested for owing money.

i got the same phone call today telling me by message i needed to be served papers coming from a phone number that was this 000-000-0000 it left 18883235921 as a return number. now i had spoken with this lady before and offered to pay 10 a month as i didnt make much they refused the payment they wanted was i believe in full.  now they call me a few months later telling me that  i am facing felony fraud charges to a bank but if i can make restitution for a payday loan i had from cashnet (at least 5 yrs ago) that they criminal charges would be dropped.  i am freaking out.  they said i could either pay 1168.75 (the loan was only 500 i believe) today or pay half now and half in 30 days OR i could let her know what i had today and pay rest on tues.  i said id try to get a loan for it if i could and i asked for the mailing address. she said she couldnt give it to me that if i came up with the money i had to call back and be put through to some department and theyd give me the info. she said well it doesnt sound like you'll have it so with a smile i could hear in her voice she said someone would be here to pick me up bt 11am-1pm.. how does it go from me getting served paperwork to getting picked up?  so in the meanwhile i had an alan shaw calling my parents house from the same 888 number and leaving them a message that he  needs to serve me with papers.  I am seriously having a heart attack.  i do know that drs offices can file theft of service charges on you if they feel like it because i had a warrant for a dental bill copay a few years ago... is this really a scam? its from rowling and miller was the name she answered the phone with. she had my ss# and everything, except current address because she still had only the address that it was taken out at.  i only found that out when i asked why i didnt receive any mailings about it. she said well most ppl dont notify of chg of address when they're trying to hide from something. i said i wasnt hiding, i just completely forgot and back then yeah it wouldve slipped my mind.  so i don't have to be worried about it?

I just got TWO messages from them today. I called-got voicemail, and then "all the people were taking other calls". I KNOW that the only company that "thought" I owed them money actually took a LOT more than they were supposed to. SO I know I don't owe anything. I would ignore them; once-awhile back-a different company called-a guy from India-I had fun using his SAME accent and messed with him. He never called back. My advice-really-tell them if you have three way or conference call-that you are going to WITH THEM ON THE PHONE-call the police. I am quite proficient at research-so I also have found personal information on the people themselves-and thrown that back at them. If anyone needs me to do this-I'd be more than happy to help. I just need a name and a city and state-or at least a state. OR try it yourself... This ALWAYS works-when you tell them info about themselves...they don't like that very much.

I keep receiving calls from this company. I think it is a scam. They said I got a payday loan, which I have NEVER gotten in my entire life. She wanted me to make a payment and when I refused she told me she would charge me with felony check fraud. I have not received any paperwork in the mail from this company and when I asked to speak with the supervisor she told me that she was the supervisor and hung up on me. Each time I tried to call back she just interrupted me and hung up on me. VERY suspicious. I advise anyone who gets a phone call like this to check into it before giving them any of your info.

I get all the same stuff. Sent them a Cease and Desist. Doubt it'll matter. So we are all getting the same thing. Anyone been served anything yet?


I got some legal advice. They are trying to settle with the original creditor and shut these third party people down.  Let me know how you all made out. There is safety in numbers :-)

Okay, now they are calling me from a new number.1-888-200-9171. I returned the call and all I got was a call to record a message, so I did. DON'T PAY THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY. It's a scam. I've never taken out a payday loan and I don't owe anyone any money so I know for sure it's a scam.

Fax them a Cease and Desist and file suit when they keep calling after you have faxed/certified mailed your request.  Believe me they will continue to call but you will have bases for a suit.  Also note that I work in law enforcement and can tell you for a fact you can not be arrested on a civil matter.  That is only a hollow threat they make to scar you into paying.  They can only file suit against you if they are the original creditor or there is a clause in the original contract that says (Or Its Assigns).  If that statement is not present, you can get it thrown out of court.  Also check the statue of limitation in your state regarding suits.  It may be passed that and you can have it thrown out on that base.  Please go to the FTC Site @ http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm so you know your rights.  If you would like to file a complaint go to https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.  Good Luck to all and I hope this helps.

Tia. What they are doing is highly illegal and a scam. They purchased old debt and they are trying to get money out of you. 1) Please check you states statute of limitations. 2) Please read the article from the FBI website. 3) File a complaint with the FTC.

Do not fall for their cheap extortion practices. Let them know you are recording their conversation. And that you will be reporting them.

You cannot be jailed for owing a debt. Period.

So I am wondering should I pay these people or what because I have been scammed out of 1300 before and these ppl are talking about bad checks. All it was, was a 200 payday loan back in 07.,I don't know what to do? I don't want to be jailed. It's only 184.00 but they say I have to pay it before next week. I am confused for real and losing sleep over this mess. If they give me time to pay I will but they are not working with me. I don't hardly make any money!I am already broke because of this. I have gotten the same message like the other, what can we do about this. It need to stop.. I mean the world is already going though a crisis. Do we need more. It need to stop.

They call my # daily for someone I have never heard of. When I called them to remove me from their call list they interrogated me and called me a grouchy old lady. I'm not THAT old!

Just receive same type of call as others threatening me for what I do not know. This is a scam and needs to be stopped

I retrieved a voice message yesterday from our store phone.  The message was the same as Brittany described.  I called the number back to see what it was and I did not get a person.  I got a recording stating that I could leave a message. So the whole thing was baffling.  I have no credit problems or non-payment of loan issues, so it must be something else or some attempt at extortion.  Thanks to all of you who contributed to this thread!

Just received a message saying the same.  Only problem for them is they used my wife's maiden name and called on my number.  We've been married for 5 years and cleared any debts we owed when we bought our house a while back... We've been contacted by scam artists before.  Not sure how they get our information So to support what the rest of these posts state, it's a scam. Ignore it.

I get calls almost every day from this number.  I don't know who they are, but I know I don't owe anyone money.

Got a call from this number regarding my daughter about hot checks and a warrant being issued.  My daughter doesn't have a checking account and hasn't had one in over 5 years.
She also has never been notified of any hot checks by her former banks.
They had her former addresses dating back 5 years, but my daughter has never received any information on any hot checks or warrants.
This must be a scam and I really want these people to stop calling my number.

These are empty threats and highly illegal. Know your rights and do not fall for this scam. Log a case with the FTC. Send them a cease and desist. And finally check the statute of limitations for your state. The are 3rd party debt collecting scum. Read what the FBI has to say.

Continues to call my wife's cell phone looking for someone that is not her or me.  They are looking for someone not us and want an address to serve papers.  If they were real, the papers would be served by certified mail or process server/sheriff's office.  I called them back reminding them that they are calling the wrong number, our number is on the Do Not Call list, and that if they keep illegally harrassing us by telephone, that we might be serving some papers ourselves!

I want to know what I should do. They are calling me telling me that I need to pay 46.00 times 5 to pay a payday loan that I did get in 2007, but the lady told me that I would be facing felony charges and going to jail and my bail would be 5000 for fraud and she also told me that I was like number 60 on the docket to be servedcin court. What should I do? I did have a payday loan but I didn't know they can sue u for 200 from back in 2007. I need some help please.

Just realized that some of those names are probably just individuals that have a mailbox at the Mailboxes etc/UPC store, as opposed to company names.

I looked this up and it is the Tech Plaza in Atlanta.  Basically a shopping center.  I'm almost certain that the Mailboxes, etc and/or UPS store at that location is where this is, as a multitude of businesses have that address.  Curious to know what the other poster searched with to come up with actual names.  (Maybe the address was typed wrong?)
