Very interesting.  We just attended one of these.  The sales rep said Grace before the food was served and ended saying, "in Jesus name we pray".  I have no objection to Grace being said nor to Jesus.  That being said, I found it HIGHLY inappropriate in a business setting.  The rep was telling the couple next to me how a woman the evening before had confronted him because she was Jewish.  I said that I thought it was disrespectful and he blew his top and told me that I could leave.  I ate dinner and when we were leaving several people came up to tell me how rude they thought he was and that they didn't appreciate it.

just received a free dinner invitation at Chowan Golf and Country Club in Edenton, NC on Feb 17th and 18th.  I am following the advice of the the people on this website who were scammed.  I will not attend.  Obviously the insulating blanket works.  As a retired US Navy Electronics Technician I have a great deal of knowledge and practical experience with electricity and electronics and know how electricity runs. There is no way the so-called energy miser device will work.  If it did I would already have designed and built one, making $millions in the process.

It is insulation your home, that's all.  Theey pick up a few clients at the dinner, they get their money back for the cost of the dinner.  no scam.  I am ging for the free dinner in two hours from now in Youngstown, Ohio.

SO to reply to your message if you would notice in my post I said NOTHING about the products that they are promoting. My message was basically saying that this company sending out these cards does not obligate you to even respond to it..... Just about everyone I know has recieved the junk mail in their mailbox saying "You can recieve $10,000 in life insurance for only .45 a day! or Your local car dealership is having a blowout, take you key and if it starts a vehicle then you drive away with it!" .... its bascially the exact same concept that the company is doing...its called advertising. You get the card, read it, and either call and book a dinner or throw it away.

They do not TARGET SENIORS... I have known 25-40yr olds to recieve this invitation and even a couple of teenagers have recieved these cards!

As far as the company having someone come and break into your home when you are at the dinner seminar that is the most outlandish things that I have ever heard!! I wouldn't doubt that a persons house was robbed, it happens how many times a day all across america?? If your house gets robbed because you were checking out a new deli in town that sent opening day invitations out ... and your house was robbed would you hold the owner of the deli responsible because isn't that the exact samething that you are claiming this company does.......or will you like millions of others know that there are troubled people that watch homes everyday and have learned peoples daily routine just so they could attempt or be successful at a breakin!

Also, how many people want a lot for little to nothing....People see FREE and get excited! When they recieve this card they see blah blah blah blah Free Dinner for two....blah blah blah blah Sizzling Steak or Grilled Chicken! So, basically when these greedy people that have NO interest in the information call in and find out that they dont qualify and they cant get their free dinner all of a sudden its one complain after another. I will give credit to the people that are sincerely interested in the information, they will ask what to expect at the dinner or what it is about. Those interested do not call and the very first thing out of their mouth is "Im calling about that free dinner!" "Can I get the dinner to go and not go to the seminar" They are the ones that I was saying to try and get your free dinner elsewhere!

If you have invented the basic system and hold the patents. Then lets see some proof! How about a web address? I'm not saying you didnt invent this, you may as well could have but personally I haven't found anything. I always say seeing is believing so show me and the rest of the world.

Do any of you work for a business or owned your own business? How does your employer or company make money? You buy products at a low cost and sell them at a profit, is there something wrong with that? If you don't make a profit you don't stay in business, it's that simple.
Do you complain when the car dealer makes thousands on the car you just bougth? No, because you cut a "good deal". Do the same when buying any home improvement product, don't like the price, negotiate a better one.
Reflective foil materials work, capacitors work, all of your motors on your appliances have them. Why?
Quit complaining about receiving a postcard offering a free meal and showing you how to save on your electric bill.
Go to the dinner, I did, learn something new and if you're interested make an appointment. I have these products in my home and they work. I am saving on my utility bill everyday.

If you want a free dinner, I'm sure they will deliver... no local restaurant wants a bad rep.  In the meantime, you did not contact them, they contacted YOU, so I can't believe anyone would sign up for anything they are selling.  Shame on you if you got sucked in!

For the people that are complaining about jobs not being completed why did you pay them any money upfront. I never pay a contractor until the job is complete and I am satisfied. Any contractor that wants money up front gets booted out the door.

I hate to bust your bubble. I got the card today and get similar cards all the time. Likewise,  another couple I know got the same card. We're not seniors and will not be for 16 years. This type of presentation is simular to those trying to get you to by timeshares. No one's gonna break in your home (unless you tell too many people and someone on the street finds out you'll be out for a couple of hours).
They more then likely will use "constant pressure and release" sales tactics, Even at a discount these "free" meals aren't cheap to these promoters. They have to expect a return on their "investment". I drive for a living and make less than middle income. I have no desire to go and get sucked into buying something I know I can't afford now or in the near future.

Got the card today. The "free meal" is at an expensive restaurant. Although that's great, it won't entice me to go to it. I went to their site (www.umaenergysaving.com). The products seem to be the real deal. Bottom line is: it's all about money and there's no such thing as a free lunch (dinner).

I have installed a similar product in my home.  You are right - its R-value is near zero but that is not what the product is for.  The savings due to the reflective value are quite large.  My attic is MUCH cooler.  The product I have is a highly reflective surface on corrugated cardboard installed about 6" below the underside of the roof.  There is a full length ridge vent.

Anyway, my product works great.  I don't know about theirs, but the product doesn't need a significant R-Value to work.

Got the card in Smithfield, VA.  The restaurant, CW Cowling's does exist and it is a good one.

Your implication that they plan to rob your home is ridiculous.  That would be so obvious and so easy to catch them in the act.  A company their size would be beyond idiotic to try something like that.
There is certainly no implied income level as many seniors own their homes but have few other resources.  I say seniors because you say you have to be 65 years or older.  I do not believe you that that is a requirement as that would definitely work against them, but I have not checked this out for myself.
No children living with you is not a requirement.  Both spouses is a very reasonable requirement since they are trying to sell you on something.  You emphasize "No mobile homes" - of course not.  Why should they pay for your meal and allow you to take up space if you do not own a home suitable for their products.

I have never had any dealings with the UMA, I just received one of their cards and was checking them out.  Posts like yours certainly do not help.

I received the same card as all of you in Wisconsin Dells, WI.  Looks like a pretty broad based scam.  Before you buy go to your local lumber yard and check prices.  This material has been around for years and is available just about anywhere.  The R value of this material is close to zero but they will try to sell you on the "heat reflective value".  By the way, I haven't been to the dinner/sales meeting and would caution everyone to STAY AWAY.  You know what they say about something that sounds too good to be true!

The power mizer is a joke because the power company does not charge a power factor charge to residential customers.
The insulation is a joke because of the high cost.
