Received call from Netspend-notification. Call 877-581-8028.  Will not call.  Thanks for everyone's input!

I got the text this evening..goggled it and found out a scam! Not calling them.

Also got the same call - only mine was a text message and it said "net-spend notification 1-877-581-8028"  Of course I
figured it was a scam and didn't call them back or text back, just erased the message.  Then I looked it up tonight on the
internet and found this page - YUP - some people will go to any length to scam money.

I just received a text from netspend notification. The recording said they were advising me of possible fraud activity on my card and to prevent the card from being suspended to please first ID myself by providing them with my 16 digit card number. I called my bank, and no suspect activity has taken place. I think this is fraud and simply a way to access my debit card number. I'm going to delete the text. Thank you everyone for posting your experiences.

Complete Scam. Please let your older relatives know. They are the most likely to fall for this.

Both my husband and I received the text messages on our phones at the same time.  Did not reply or call the number.  I always "google" these numbers to verify.  Thanks to everyone who posted.  This getting really ridiculous with these calls.

Got this just now. SCAM - I called it, and entered 16'  5's. I figure if you wanna scam. Ill give you some fake numbers, so you can sift through your scam list.

Received this text on my cell; (Netspend-Notification) Call us at 18775818028. It came from 48030980@vtext.com.  I did not call this number.  I have no reason to.  I did not ask them to text me.

Got a text from 1-877-581-8028 they made it look like it was from Verizon and wanted a lot of personal info, I gave them bogus info and a credit card number that (you suck and eat s***)

Incoming text on Jun 16, 2014 at 3:47 PM MST/PDT: "48020273@vtext.com (Netspend-notification) Call 18775818028".

Not sure where they got my number. Obvious scam, didn't call or reply to text. Forwarded to 7726 to report as SPAM.

These are the thieves attempting to steal your info..
They tell you your card will be charged fees due to some techhnical error unless of course you input your account number and most likely your pin. They use your area code and phone number in their text...example my number is
480 622 9***...they used the first six digits then the first digit after my area code.

I texted back letting them know I was on to the scam..(the words used were much more colorful). I recieved no response. My netspend card was abandoned over eight months ago..leading me to believe myaccount number has been swiped most likely by an employee who processes cards that show extended periods of inactivity and a zero or negative balance and monthly service charges still accruing. That employee most likely gets your account # traces the card holders name to the email associated with it...somehow gets the phone number associated with the email and sends the text. You respond..enter your info..they get your pin..change it..and now use your account for further illegal activities.

I also received a text net spend notification.call 18775818028 it wanted my account number..called my bank its a scam delete

Forward spam text messages to 7726, then enter the number or address it came from. In this case it came from 48026640@vtext.com. The carrier will then block any more spam from the same source. Thank you for this site. It helped determine I was not compromised yet.

Received a text last night asking me to call 1-877-581-8028. Says it came from Netspend-notification. I called and a recording said "please enter your card number." I decided it must be a scam as it didn't even say what card they were asking for. I wouldn't give any of my card numbers to a recorded message unless I was the one that initiated the call and I was calling the credit card company. These scams are getting more and more frequent. I guess if they automate something like this and even get 1% responses they make a lot of money.

Received a text saying Netspend Notification ... then listed the aforementioned number. I did call it, but it asks for a card number - I entered nothing and glad I did so. I researched and found this site. This is a scam.

Got the same text on my verizon phone in AZ: (Netspend-notification) Call 1-877-581-8028. I didn't call - never heard of them before. Thank to everyone else for posting.

Just got this on my verizon phone as well - would like to give a thumbs up to the posters here! Nice to know the Internet is good for something other than wasting my time! Good job Al Gore (j/k)! These scammers need to get a whoopin'!

Apparently, Netspend is a prepaid debit card company. They have a page on Wikipedia and an A rating with the BBB. If only somebody would put up the donuts, I'd bet dollars to them that the phone number does NOT ring through to Netspend.

This is a scam -- I called the number back from a land line. Recording is a robo and says card is suspended and  want you to enter your identity info. REALLY --- How F-in dumb do you think we are? I suggest if you call this # to do so from a land line or call a restricted line.  These people need to get a life an stop trying to screwing up other people's!
