we get calls from this number and they are just hang ups. after reviewing this page though I am sure that it was probably someone wanting to scam us on online listings as well. As we get these from time to time, too.

I was asked  if I was authorized to renew an online listing of our business. Though I wasn't familiar with the name, being a new manager, I asked if we were currently using their service, they said yes.  They talked very fast and in circles, and also made me believe they were affiliated with the yellow.  I was led to believe we had an existing business relationship with them and that it was time to renew.  They insisted on playing a recording of my authorizing this invoice, but of course it will only be the yes and no answers they recorded.  I said I was going to file a complaint and hung up.  They called back three times to say they would file a complaint with my corporate office.  Very aggressive, and sharp. Too bad they don't use it for something good. Someone once said. " it's a dog eat dog world, and you're wearing milkbone underwear."

I received a call in October from Online Data Consulting (they did not use this name at the time of the first phone call), who claimed our online listing in the yellow pages or (something similar ?) was through them.  They also have a different number 1-877-384-8956.  They asked for me specifically and told me that previous manager (by name) had authorized the purchase of a 1 year listing.  They then stated that the previous manager had requested that we not renew and be placed on the do not call list.  They had his name and my name without me providing this information to them.  I did ask for a copy of our contract with the invoice.  We always do contracts.

Today, they called about an invoice that they faxed to us for $479 (no contract was provided).  I noticed that the name of the company was not what I remembered from in October as being given to me and I also thought… ‘who sends a bill at the end of the term of a year service and not monthly’?  The woman stated that they had a recording of our conversation from October and if I wanted to listen to it I could.  She did not play the recording for me.  She also faxed me an invoice as well as a W9 form for Richard Parsons.  She asked when I was going to pay.  I told her that as the company name was different and that everything about this invoice was weird including paying afterwards that I was going to investigate the matter and get back to her.

I then called the previous manager as well as looked the company up and found this website and called her back.  I told her I wouldn't be paying a dime and that I was reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for pulling a scam.  She started talking about court and I laughed and stated that we would not only be happy to start proceedings ourselves but that we would also for court fees as well when we win.  She supposedly put me on hold to talk with a manager.  It was to brief a time for a conversation of this magnitude to happen; all of 15 seconds.  She then came back and reported our account was now $0 and hung up.  Who but a scam waives $479 at a drop of the hat.

Uhh, i am just an assistant manager and got hooked into this. I got a call asking me if i was authorized to make a purchase and receive and invoice for their 1 year data data listing and of course I said yes, then they asked for my address and my name and then asked again if i was authorized to make a purchase and receive and invoice for their 1 year listing and I said yes of course. I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS PURCHASING IT RIGHT THEN!! All i said was that I was authorized, they never asked if I wanted a product. So low and cheap. A month later I got a bill saying I owed $479 and i called and gave them a piece of my mind and said I wasn't paying for it. Wow, don't answer calls you don't know who they are from.

I too recieved a call from "Online Data Services" demanding I spend $479.00 for a termination fee for closing a web site. If I don't act right now and pay this amount I'd be denied the right to cancel my contract. Everything was in real time by a high pressure salesman, usually this is a sign of a scam. The amazing thing is he insisted on recording the conversation. I agreed, then he went through the routine of  starting and setting up the recording. I was asked to state my name and to make sure I was authorized to make the decisions, I said yes. Now we're into the interview and he asked "will you pay the invoice of $479.00?" My response was, "show me the contract and prove I owe it first". He quickly stopped the interview and informed me "you can't say anything except yes or no, now we have to start all over". I was patient, we started over and he asked the same questions. I gave a simular answer, "if you prove I owe you anything then I'll pay". The guy said someone else would call me back.

Today somebody from that number called me about 8 times within an hour but left no message.

I got a call from Online Data Consutling back in the summer and again more than 2 weeks ago .  Tammy Snow told me that I had authorized the purchased of the 1 year listing for $479. She said she had a recording if I wanted to listen to it to prove it.  She faxed me an invoice as well as a W9 form for Richard Parsons.  She asked when I was going to pay.  I told her I wouldn't be paying a dime.  She hung up and then called back 2 days later and demanded payment again.  I told her we wouldnt be paying for anything.  She offered to cut the price in the half.  I still refused.  She blabbed off something about having to go court in Washington D.C. in 10 days if it wasn't paid in full and in D.C. it would be the full $479 again.  I told her to go ahead because we weren't paying and she hung up.  That was 2.5 weeks ago - last time I heard from them.

We are receiving the same calls and it is all the same scenario. We haven't been able to get an invoice from them or anything which is odd if they want us to pay them.  John Ryan was this morning's friendly caller.  Is this one of those work at home gigs??  Really irritates us.

I had one this morning who had my name, called and asked for me, and insisted that they needed to renew our 2yr listing which they have that I authorized 2 yrs ago.  This lady was fairly good at scamming and didn't give up easily.  I told her I had no info on her company in my records and she said that they probably didn't charge us for the first listing.  She gave her company name as Online Data Consulting after I asked her several times for it.  She tried to be as vague as possible.  She even said that another company does their accounting so we may have it under another name.  She said if I didn't want to renew that she would need to close it out and the unpaid balance would have to be paid.  She finally said she would give me time to research it and call me back tomorrow.  These people usually prey on people who are too busy to stop and ask questions so they just say ok and agree to whatever they say.

Caller said he was calling to renew our online directory listing; we have none.  I told him he was mistaken and that we had none.  He said he could close our account only if we paid our outstanding bill.  I asked to speak to his supervisor; he said he was.  I then asked to speak to his manager; he said he was the boss.  I told him we weren't paying any bill for sevices we didn't order and I hung up.  Now I see this is a SCAM... figures!

We got a call today from 877-64-2201 and the guy insisted someone had authorized an online ad from two years ago. I see a pattern here after reading all your posts. When we insisted that no one did any such thing he started talking right over me. I asked his name he said John Ryan (sure it is...)
Next time they call I will hang up immediately.

I got the call and I told the man that this is the fifth call I have received from his company.  That I was being herassed.  I wanted to know his name right now.  He wouldn't tell me so I raised my voice and asked him again.  He ignored me and I confronted him.  Told him to give me his name and he said:

Don Kihota...

Sounded to be about 65 years old and a nice old man.  Too bad he's wrapped up in a scam.

These guys are relentless. I never authorized a 2 year ad and have told them when they can play me the recording of me autorizing this service, then I'll pay it. The sales man threatened that if I did not pay it, the ad would not be cancelled and would roll over and I'd be charged an additional fee.

Same call as cited by someone else here. Claims we owe them $479 for a previous year on-line listing. Wanted a PO number. Also claimed they had a recording of someone at our company who authorized this, but said someone would have to call back to play it for me. I pressured him right back anb firmly stated that we would not be paying this invoice. SCAM.

High pressure salesman called and said company is sending me an invoice for previous online ad from previous two years and that they require payment.  I said I didn't order any online ad.  He claims to have a recording where I authorized it, but couldn't get it to play right then.  Said he'd call back tomorrow with it.  I said I didn't authorize it, and I'm not paying it.   He started out by saying it was time to renew.  I agree it seems to be a scam.

Got a call from "Renee" with Online Data Services or something to that effect. An online listing service, she said. She said they cannot cancel our "account" without a name, which I refused to provide. She said our account would automatically renew and hung up. Very clearly a scam.

I concur with the other comments.  These guys are ruthless.  They called my business (dental office) back in May of 2010 and spoke with my receptionist.  One person talked to her about 'reviewing' our 'current listing' with them and having to renew it.  Of course they talked fast and talked in circles and confused her as to what they were actually trying to get at.  After the first lady confused the heck out of her they put a 2nd guy on the phone to 'confirm' the order.  This is when they started recording the conversation.... a guy talking fast and her only 'allowed' to use yes or no answers.  They claim their recording of the conversation authorized the order for a list at $479.  Now they are charging me $525 for late fees.  I will just keep ignoring them.  I have filed a complaint with the Fed. Trade Comm. and the Washington D.C. Better Business Bureau.  If you have time I suggest you file one as well.

I just got the same call. I told her that I would have to dig up the contract if this was true, and she said that it was a binding verbal contract. When I asked her what our customer number was, she read my phone number to me. I told her that I would need to call the owner of the business, and probably a lawyer, and for her to call me back. If she does call back, I will ask her to prove the services provided, and I will ask to hear the voice recording so that I can verify who it was that agreed to this scam. Sure got my blood pumping.

Called asking for the manager from 7 years ago.  Told her I'm the manager.  Said she wanted to know if we wanted to close our account listing and get the final bill or continue the ad.  Told her we never signed up for anything.  She said we've had an ad for 2 years.  I told her I'm the only one working here and I've been here for almost 4 years.  She said they have our information.  I asked her when we signed up.  She said she didn't know she just does the billing.  I told her she can't even tell me when I signed up for an ad but yet she wants me to pay for it.  She said they have a recording from when we signed up and that she would call me back with it.  I'm sure I'll never hear back with a recording.
