Just received a call. I get these sometimes because we filed bankruptcy and it has been done for a few years now. I believe they got our name this way.  After listening to the voice mail, I got another one and it was the same person but leaving the same voice mail for someone else. What a scam!

About a month ago, I received a call from an in- law that I have not seen in years.  She said that someone called her from Winchester Group  looking for me to file legal action.  I advised her not to give out any of my information to them because I do not owe anyone.   I looked up the number and found this site, it was very helpful.  However, they called my job today and a co worker answered, he provided a first name and told her that he is not obligated to give her any information and to put him through to me.  He went to my voice mail.  After checking the voice mail he left a reference # with the last 4 digits of my social and that I was a failure to appear (where) and he would hate to personally disrupt my work by hand delivering my legal notice and I have 24 hours to return his call.  I will not be calling them back!

These people called my niece saying that neither I or my attorney hadn't responded to a Notice of Intent sent by mail, which of course I never received. I can't imagine how they even got her #. He said a complaint had been filed against me, as though I had done something criminal and there was no mention of a debt, or collection.  I couldn't imagine any sort of complaint being filed against me, which is what prompted me to google the # before calling back. He did not leave a company name and also threatened me with "taking action".  They used the last 4 of my SSN in the case file # they left, I guess to try to legitimize their claim.

Based on what I've read here and my intuition, I'm not calling them back.  I've had the same telephone number for years.  If they were legitimately looking for me, they would have found me.

They left a voicemail on the phones of two relatives of mine - distant relatives - and leaving messages for me threatening criminal action over the phone and discussing things they most certainly just googled about me. They googled my name and that's how they tried to legitimize who they were. The devil is in the details. What they discussed would be in violation of the local law here, if this were even a legitmate debt.

Right away this sounds like a scam. I'm an attorney and I have no outstanding debts. I decided to call back and they answered  "Corp WGF" and I gave them the reference number from the voicemail. They could not find it in their system - of course not - and wanted my last name. I did not give them my name and the woman who answerd the phone was very rude and abrupt.

Here's the deal - if there were a debt, notices would have been sent via mail. No one is going to throw anyone in jail for a debt. That type of harassment is prohibited (check your local laws on debt collection).

If you're worried, get your credit report and see if there are any outstanding debts and go from there. Lawyer up and don't let anyone bully you into some time of scam or even when it comes to actual  debt collection. You have rights.

Same complaint here. They called saying that I, or my attorney, failed to respond to a letter at my residence (which I never received), and they have documents of intent scheduled for delivery. I checked my credit report and have no such outstanding debt. This is def a scam. My sis in law had a similar call and when she asked them to give her all the info, they refused saying she just had to pay what she owed and asked how she wanted to pay for it. These people are scam artists. Beware!!

My girlfriends sister received a call from this number, after she talked to the very rude individual, my girlfriend decided to call them and see what they wanted. It turns out they're trying to absolve a " debt " from USBank in California. She was told that it was a debt from 2009, and that the statute of limitations would be up in two months, and that they were going to hustle it through the system, have her prosecuted, and put her into jail with a misdemeanor charge for not paying a debt. However, she never had an account through them, and after a lengthy bout of intimidation from a one Tina Choocran ( ext 125 for any trolls hoping to have fun ), she was hung up on.

Now this is where it gets fun. Enter the macho boyfriend ( yeah, this guy ). I call them to find the manager, and lo and behold, I'm put on the phone with the same woman who fought with my girlfriend. So I go into the whole schpiel of who she worked for, and why she was trying to use scare tactics with my girlfriend to pull money from her. After this, I was told that she refused to speak about the case with me ( with verbal confirmation from my lady that it was ok ) and that she refused to speak about it with my girlfriend anymore unless it was to acquire our debit card number. After that, she hung up on me. Well, being that I felt I was rudely treated, I tried to call back and speak with a manager AGAIN, well turns out I can't speak with a manager because they blocked my phone number, my girlfriends phone number, and now my Google Voice number.

Out of the several times I called, and she called, the receptionist has answered WFG ( World Financial Group ), Winchester Collections, then finally First Division.

TL;DR

The number is a phishing scam. If you see it, don't answer it. If you do happen to answer it, try to troll the hell out of them, or if you want to be smart, double check your credit report, then call your corresponding credit agency and report to the fraud division. Make sure you get an much information from them as you can before you tell em where to stick it.

Thanks for reading my rant!

I just received a call from 877-643-6749 which appeared as "unknown" on the ID.  I sent it to voice mail.  They said someone named Nicholas Aragon had left my number as a contact.  Regarding some type of litigation, Nicholas was a no show and as his contact, I had 24 hours to reach him or respond.  If they didn't hear from either of us within 24 hours, they would be forced to visit either "the home or place of work."   i don't know Nicholas and the call just left a bad feeling.  So I decided to do a search for the number instead of returning the call.  Glad I did,
