Since someone mentioned Minnesota, I found Asset Discovery Corporation headquartered there. It may not be the same outfit, but name variants are common in the industry. Their site URL includes the more diverging "ARControl Inc".

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If you get neither, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

A "personal business matter" equals debt collection, and the air of mystery is both required by law and exploited by lawbreakers. By "emergency contact" the agency means Mother's name and number were yanked from Lexis/Nexis or some other data broker. Amazing how Mom gets called first but supposedly you can't be found. This could be a "block party" style call, part of a false skip trace to get you anxious and ashamed over some unvalidated debt.

The FDCPA compels debt collectors to reveal a business name on request. It doesn't matter who asks and the answer is not considered a privacy breach as sloppy agencies may think.

Mistrust of any ''wrong number'' claim is standard procedure at all the rogue collection agencies. They assume you are a liar until you give an answer which gets one paid. An ill-considered provision of the FDCPA is abused to permit this.

I'm guessing the pushy calls came to a workplace. You can't argue with skip tracers. You need to state clearly that collection calls are not permitted there. That way there's no excuse to keep calling for other real or imagined employees, and anyone being targeted by the calls has cause to sue if the agency disobeys.

Whover this person is, I'd love to get my hands on him. The only phone number he'd want to call then would be 911.

I answered this call at work and the guy didn't have any idea who he was calling but asked for 'John'. He said his name was Drew and would not give his company name or his last name. He gave the phone number 877.646.5628 and pressed for a time and best number to reach John at, but I would not give it. I challenged him and he was evasive. Watch out for this caller!

Same thing has happened to me the last few days by a person of the name Jason Davis, but he's asking about one of my family members, and all he will say is it is regarding a personal business matter or confidential information.  The number would also disconnect when I try to call it back.

Person by the name of Jason Davis called my office regarding a personal business matter.  Said he was from A.. something (3-letter abbreviation) in Minnesota.  Called the number back, no ring tone, no receptionist, and the call automatically disconnected.
