CB is owned by Gannett Media...it's possible that they sell subscription telephone numbers to their other companies?

I've never posted a resume online.  Not sure why I'm getting calls!!!! They call atleast 3x a day and don't leave a message.  I recently cancelled a newspaper subscription, and they used to do the same thing.  I called and asked to be removed.  I was wondering if they are just calling from a different number.  They never left a message either.

Survey
I too posted my resume on Career Builder and received a call on Friday.  The woman identified herself as being from Career Builder and asked me to complete a short survey to 'help' me.  She asked if I graduated from high school and I said yes.  She then asked what year.  I said you don't need to know that information.  She said we can't continue unless you tell me.  I said if I tell you, then you will know my age and that information is not required until after I have the job.  She then hung up.

Today I again posted a resume and again received a call.  I told this lady after her little spiel that I was not going to tell her the year I graduated and I had received a call from someone recently who was rude and hung up on me when i refused to give it to her and I wanted my name taken off this call list.  She also hung up.

Legitimate companies won't ask for my age or birthdate until after I have been offered the job and only for background purposes.  This wrong of CareerBuilder to ask for it!

Telemarketer
I called Career Builders they stated they do not have agents call people who post resumes. I just got a call from 1-877-657-5851, a person named "Molly". When I called her on it and told her that Career Builders denied calling applicants, she still tried to say they work through Career Builders. She was trying to sell a college programs.

If you look, you will see that you must have not unchecked the box saying you would like information on continuing your education. All you have to do is go back on the site and read thoroughly and uncheck the box requesting education information. Simple as that.

It's definitely Career Builder.  I called them back after they called three times leaving no VM.  "Amber" was selling 3rd party education services on behalf of Career Builder.  I asked to have my number removed.  Let's see if it sticks :-)

FYI -------

Here is a copy of the note sent to Career builders after contacting them this morning.  You might want to ask yourself is Career Builder a safe site to use? Moreover do they want to hire people outside the US above those in the US. ?

To whom it may concern,

Upon viewing Career Builder website it appears my phone conversation this morning produced some results regarding the errors in the career builders website and the scam phone calls received from 877-657-5851 ( education enhancements dept. within career builder) Unfortunately,  not all of the broken links have been repaired or removed ! At this time I am contacting Career Builder via e-mail in hopes that I will find a better success ratio than with a phone conversation alone.

To that end, Career builder needs to VALIDATE THEIR INFORMATION ON THE WEBSITE!!!

I noticed some of Career builders "Top Questions for searching" have been removed.
Specifically: "Is my information safe" and "How do I protect myself from scams". The reason this has been removed is because they are broken . How do I know this ? Because I am the one that notified Career Builder of this situation this morning after getting scam calls from 877-657-5851. As mentioned on the phone conversation today I am not alone as many other people that have posted a resume have received similar calls from 877-657-5851. Do a Google search for yourself and you will see.

Please review the information below and add it to the information I gave this morning via the telephone and get back to me with a good reason to re-post my resume on YOUR SITE !!!

Career builder website has a section under the help tab that looks like the text below....

Searching
1.) Can you prevent this company from spamming me?
2.) How do I get more exact searches?
3.) Do you have further information about this company?
4.) Can you find me a job?
5.) Can non-US citizens apply?
View all FAQs »

I find it less than amusing that if I click on #4 - "Can you find me a Job" nothing is listed in the window that pops up.
The question begs to be asked ...... Can Career Builder REALLY help me find a job if they cant even get the website to work and this is an internet based job search?

However, If I click on #5 "Can non US citizens apply all the information is available.

A couple questions that needs to be answered by Career Builder -

1.) Do you really help people find jobs ?
2.) How about for US citizens in the US ?

If the answer is YES then why don't you find me one in your validation department if you have one .
If you don't.....  Then you NOW have a note for the suggestion box at your location.

If nothing else a response from career builder is necessary.

As a user of this site I am very disappointed.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience. You may reply directly back to this e-mail or resource your customer service department. I have already given my contact information to your representatives this morning and I eagerly await your response. After all.... Please remember I am UNEMPLOYED and have nothing better to do .

Good Day.

I think the reason they don't leave a message is because they don't know one way or the other if they are calling your employer's office.  So to be safe and not get you in any trouble, they don't leave a message.

I recently added my resume to Career Builder.  Received a phone call and left no message.  They must be selling something.  Nice to know that they are spamming.
