Got the same message as a others here, "Free VZW MSG: 1 of your lines exceeded its text allowance by 50+ messages recently. If haven't [sic] already updated the package, call 877-690-2969. Reply X to opt out." The message was from 900070002523.

I called Verizon Wireless support and the customer service rep did not recognize the 877 number, but said the 900070002523 is one they use and the "Reply X to opt out" is also standard text for them. She looked at my account and did not see any overages. She thought the message was probably really from Verizon, but had been sent in error and to ignore it.

I just got the same message.  Called Verizon my acct. is only two days into the billing cycle and also way under the 500 msgs. limit for last month.  On top of that the person at Verizon said that Verizon hadn't sent me any msgs. today.  If it's a scam it sure looked official.

Just got a text message claiming I went over my monthly txt limit by 50+ messages.  Msg said to call 877-690-2969.  Called Verizon (I have their 800 # in my phone's contact list) and my account was fine (hadn't even used 1/2 my monthly allowance).  Most likely spam; probably one of those numbers you call and get charged huge amounts of money for.
