I called the local sheriffs department and the county department to see if I had anything pending or out for me and they said no.  The lady that wanted to service me with papers said that she didn't need to have the sheriffs office or local police to serve paperwork.  Unfortunately, as I talked with the sheriff's department and local police, the both said that they will have to be there and that they would have a badge number for record purposes.  I don't think you'rs was a scam, but rather something that you did need to owe.

They had someone from new york stating that they have people in different counties that will be able to service me with some papers.  When asked for documentation all they did was email me a letter on letter head and it said United Portfolio Corporation on it.  When I looked them up online there's nothing about them but stating that these guys are a scam.  As far as the company they're showing that I owe money to is called with the Advance Kash.  I tried to look them up online as well, but haven't been able to find a number for them so that I could call them for documentation.  I called the local sheriffs office to find if there were any pending services against me and they said no.  The next day the same lady that wanted to service me some court papers was stating that I needed to call back United Portfolio Corporation to make payment arrangements.  I don't know if they are a scam, but I told them that I didn't want to pay anything over the phone unless I had the documentation because they said it was something from 2009 (4 years ago).  I told them that they can come and service me with the paperwork.  I've been scammed in the past before and refuse to have to go through that again.

A Lisa Lang called from this number.  When trying to return the call was met with confusion and a distinctly harrassing tone.  They didn't know her or anything about the call.  The message was one of harrassment stating on an office line, that there would be prosecution in my local county if not contacted immediately.

My husband got a call from 1-877-690-4921 and was told it was a debt collection.The numbers they wanted to be paid kept changing and when we tried to return their call all we got was an answering machine.They also threatened us with criminal action from a defaulted payday loan.Has anyone else had this problem?

We are in the same boat. I made the local police to be awarded of the problem; their (Police) response was there is nothing they can about it. We have to proof that it is a scam and then Police will intervene

Ihad to appear ncourt the client was there and now i have 30 days to repay $890. i asked for an extention on the payment but the judge denied it.. ill send the papers or whatever so u individuals can see, somethings are just not worth the hassle, pay your debts, or you'll forever be in debt.

they are not a scam.... its actually real.. i was served court summons by my local county department,,, i have an apperance ticket for 5-17... omg im sooo scared,, take heed people,, pay back what you owe.. this is crazy.. god help me,,....!

My husband got a call from this number at his mother's house last week. He called them back and was told that he was going to be arrested for not paying back his payday loan as agreed. The woman was very rude. He does have a payday loan and was very upset that he was going to jail. She told him that he had originally borrowed $300 and now owed over $900. She told him that he needed to give her payment or she was sending the info to the local police and he would be arrested. He told her that right now he only had a portion of what was owed. She said that if he paid the original $300, the company would drop the $600 in fees and charges. He gave her a payment of $40 and she told him he has until the end of the month to pay the rest or face going to jail. Since that phone call, I have received a similar call from a different number. I was told the same thing my husband was told. That is when we got to thinking his call was a SCAM. From what I have read on this page from others, I am now certain of it. We have called our credit card company and informed them of what has happened and ask that they deactivate his card and replace it with a different card. Any transactions from this company to the credit card company will not be processed. We are also going to report this number to the local police, not sure they can do anything about it, but going to anyway.

I have this company called CTS that calls my job and home stating that they will serve me some papers regarding a online loan , however I feel like they are taking advantage of me and threatens my place of employment and forced me to make some type of arrangments .

these guys called my mom and said charges were pending against me and that i needed to call them. when i did spoke with amber who told me that i was going to be charged with check writing fraud and breach of contract for defaulting on a payday loan in 2006. i asked them to send me documents regarding this and they told me if i didn't pay today they were going to send process servers to my house. she was really belligerent and aggressive. with a little research, i found out they they are breaking federal trade commission laws for fair debt collections. they cannot threaten anyone with arrest or criminal charges. they would not give me their address. they would not allow me to speak with a supervisor. they denied calling my mother. i believe they were also recording me without my permission. they are breaking federal law and can be severely punished. they were also breaking the law big time when they said they were process servers for the state of texas. i would encourage you to call the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 to file a formal complaint. i did. takes only about five minutes and they will give you good advice if you need it. let's make these dishonest, law breakers pay!
