For what it's worth, this number is legitimate. I received a voicemail just after 9:00PM on 4/8/14 regarding an order that I had supposedly placed at Sears.com. This person gave me an order reference number and said to call 877-734-4700. I then went to Sears.com and entered my phone number and the reference number and sure enough, some a***ole placed an order in my name to be shipped to 165 W. 91st Street, #2F, New York, NY   10024. I don?t know anyone personally in New York City. I googled the address and it?s an expensive apartment building. It could be the doorman or someone that works in the building that retrieves small deliveries. Anyway, I called the number above and cancelled the order at Sears and then called the number on my credit card and cancelled the card. Tomorrow, I?ll contact law enforcement to see if they care.

I just received a call from this number.  I did not answer it, but they left a message regarding "my recent purchase on KMart.com for $211."   I  MADE NO SUCH PURCHASE!!!!!   I had to call my card company, cancel my card, and now have to wait 15 days for a new card.  This is a SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you have made an online purchase from Kmart.com, check your credit card IMMEDIATELY!!

VERY HELPFUL.  I received a voicemail message from a caller at this number, asking me to verify an online purchase.  I called back, denied the online purchase as it was placed by an 'identity thief' - someone or something had a card number of mine, and was trying to buy things online..  I then contacted my bank and put a stop to all such attempts.

This number is a verifying number from Sears, Kmart, and it's other affiliates... If you purchased something online, they will call you from this number for verification, pretty much to make sure no one is out there fraudulently using your credit card to place orders through them. If you don't pickup the call, they will leave a message for return reply.

this is NOT a fraudulant company calling.  It is Sears/Kmart Fraud Protection Services.

I just purchased an e-gift card on sears.com for my nephew to buy a dryer, and within minutes I got a call from this number.  I did not answer because I did no know the number, so I googled it and saw this site and saw all the people saying it is fraud.  It is not.

They asked a few simple questions to verify that I did make the purchase, gave me a confirmation number, and within seconds processed my order.

For all that are saying it is a fraud number, get a clue.  If you had been scammed by Sears, you would br crying about NOT being protected.

This is a totally legitimate number. Someone used my card to purchase a $300 gift card. It somehow flagged in their system. They called me and left a message but I ignored it thinking it was a scam.  Well a few hours later I got a call again so I decided to answer it. The woman on the phone knew my name and and asked if I had a card ending xxxx. I did. She told me that an order came in for verification and the frauder called them to verify the order but when they asked him security questions such as my birthdate and county I live in and a few others he didn't say what they had in public records and she cancelled the order. They use this info cause if the caller can't easily answer these queation about "themselves" then it is frauder. They called me again because they wanted to make sure they informed me. I called my bank and my bank had let over $1000 be processed with other companies. Sears was the only one who cared enough to check. If it wasn't for them who knows how much of my money they would have taken. Thank you Sears.

Kmart fraud service ruined Christmas.  On christmas eve, i place an order for a tv online.  Some a** named Tim from this place calls to verify my order, who was very rude, and kept telling me my address of four years wasnt my address.  Then jerk Tim cancels my order despite me verifying all my information, and him stating I'd receive a pick up email within the hour.  I called back, and they basically did nothing to help.  A supervisor named Jennifer stated she would send a fax to my bank to have them release the hold Kmart put on my payment, but that didn't happen.  So my grandma didn't get her tv, and I will never shop at Kmart or sears, or any of their subsidiaries again.  Never in my life of online shopping have I been called to verify an order I will be showing my credit card and I.d. to pick up...and never have I been through the crap I received on Christmas Eve I received from Kmart, Tim, and Jennifer.

Received a call from this #. It was Kmart verifying an online order I place. The caller ID was NOT PROVIDED but the caller was leaving a message so I picked up. I don't know why they cannot put their name in the ID with the #.

I received a call from this number and they stated someone was trying to place an order and gave me the last 4 digits of some random CC number along with a name other than mine but in a town that was local.  This is definitely a scam company phishing for info. They said they were security verification for Sears and KMart. I didn't give them any info and when I called back to question them they gave me different info, different town. Do not give any personal info and Beware.

I do not usually go these websites with comments about 800 callers, but because Kmart.com was SUPER HELPFUL, I'm going to. This call actually went to my mother in Iowa, where I haven't lived in over 10 years. I returned the call, convinced I wouldn't give anything away in case it was a scam. The guy from Kmart asked if I'd placed an order, I said no. He said it was supposed to be delivered to an address in Chicago, I said I definitely didn't place that order. He said the purchase was made with a card ending in XXXX. I knew I indeed had a card ending in that number, but nonchalantly replied "oh, ok, thanks." He said if I had a card ending in XXXX that I needed to cancel it.

I contacted my bank, and lo and behold, there was a charge pending for almost $400 from Kmart.com! My bank was very helpful, stopping the charge (although the Kmart rep said he would as well) and canceled my card. She also gave me the number for the credit bureaus to put a 90 day fraud alert on my accounts too. I am VERY grateful that Kmart flagged that purchase, who knows what else these people may have tried to charge!

I had the same experience, but I called the number on the back of my Sears credit card and talked with Sears Security. The numbers 877-734-4700, 515-440-5000 and 847-645-4005 are NOT Sears Security.  This is a Scam/Pfhising (whatever you want to call it).  They are trying to get more of your personal information such as birth date and social security #.

Sabrina, Bob F. and Tina J. are correct. It is Kmart Corp order processing security verification. They called within minutes of placing my online order.

The gentleman was pleasant, all the info I asked him was verified, and I received my online order confirmation via email in a few seconds. Their process is very thorough and caught a very recent discrepancy regarding my order shipping information.

Bob F, if the questions they asked you were public info, it doesn't make sense.  Use public info to protect fraud?

Tian J,  a woman called me and asked for my birthday. I said how could you possibly know my birthday?  She said it was obtained from public records. Birthday?  She sounded very phishy to me.  So I gave her a random date and she said the order would be processed soon.  So if this number is indeed from kmart/sears, they are not doing the job right.

Well said Bob F!  In todays society we automatically think everything is a scam if we are not educated on their services.  They are a ligit company and will send a confirmation email after they verify info.  They are not asking for your SS#, DL # or anything like that.  They confirm you made a purchase and they move on.

A misdomeaner or a felony? Come on - now you just sound like a crazy old bat. The first 2 or 3 comments here are correct. It's K-Mart LP. Not rocket science to figure it out either - it's only a billion dollar company...jesus do a little leg work before spouting off at the mouth and sounding like an idiot.

Anyways - they called to verify an order I was sending to my son at college stating it was suspicious due to the different shipping address. They did ask me questions that were public info so I answered and got a confirmation e-mail after....seemed legit.

you threatened me with your "IN HOUSE" legal department to which I asked to talk to them, then asked to be put on hold to talk to them then told you to have them call me (still waiting); then I called and you claimed you were calling my "LOCAL POLICE".  AGAIN... still waiting!!!!!  They aren't here yet, but I trust they are on the way and I will be happy to "share" with them, you can bet your bottom dollar there!  Can't wait to tell them about our exchange.  So... those of you weirded out... I refused to give info to folk who pretended to help.  They insisted and put on their bully hats, I balked.  I haven't called the local police on them.... because I don't know much other than they are frauds, but they have threatened me with their "very own" (likely) legal department and my very own (local police), but gee willikers for "saying I think they are frauds, cuz no one was answering my valid questions".  I need some legal advice here.... you guys think this is a "misdomeaner" or a "felony" or just what?!!

YOU WROTE YOUR OWN REVIEW TO PUT PEOPLE AT EASE..... people.... please continue to read.  I buy tons of stuff on line.  NEVER am I allowed to rate a site unless I have made a purchase.... and never more than one review per purchase.  SO ALONG COMES THIS FRAUD.... and look at me.... I am able to fill up the critiques till the cows come home.  This means.... that they can as well, that they own this review site and they have complete access to it.  SO.... they write some of their own "very helpful, touching stories" or LIES, duh.  DO NOT FALL FOR IT.   THINK,  if they called you, then they already have your credit card number, your name, your address, everything else they as you for.  If they have it already, make THEM verify it.  ps.... erin.... the police have yet to show at my door for calling you a fraud and my credit card has YET to call me over the purchase...... awhhh, darn... not everyone is scammable!!
