The reason the caller knew all of your information is that they first call your office on the pretense of updating maintenance information on your copier or printer - they ask for the model name and serial number. Then they call back a week later with the scam.

I called to have a shipment we received sent back to Intech.  Apparently someone in the office who didn't know the "scam", became subject to it.  They conveniently sent the invoice 2 months after the order was shipped (to not be able to return it within the 15 days.)  He played the voice recording of the tape where our employee ordered the product.  I still was relentless telling him we don't accept shipments without a PO and he wasn't authorized to place the order.  The guy from Intech (who woulnd't give me his name...so I wouldn't either as two can play that game) was shouting at me through the phone, and I finally put him on speaker phone so everyone could hear the conversation.  I threatened to contact the Better Business Bureau, and he laughed.  He told me I could send the toner back for a full refund (he'd waive the 15% restock fee...gee, thanks!).  I asked for his UPS number to ship it back and he wouldn't give it to me.  I told him that was too bad because I REFUSE to pay to ship it back.  I told him he will never see a dollar from us, so he can either give me the UPS number to get his toner back or he'll never see the money or the toner.  Before he slammed the phone down on me he said UPS would be picking up the box.  So, we'll see if UPS does come, as I didn't get the UPS number from him to send it back, nor will I send it back on our dime.  What a scam!!!

This happened to me as well. I also spoke with Jim who apologized profusely that our order had not been sent out yet and that he was going to lock in this years price for the next two years. Someone from Intech would call me to confirm, which they did a few days later. Both calls sounded a little odd to me. I am new as well so was not aware that our toner is covered by our contract with Konica Minolta. I gave him no payment or purchase order info and have not received a shipment yet. Only discovered this when I realized our toner was out today and I wanted to expedite the shipment. If I receive the order I will return it right away, unopened. Hopefully that should resolve it.

I just thought I would share a couple of notes for people that are 'scammed'.

If you did not actually order the toner and they send it to you, you can legally keep it without paying:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/products/pro15.shtm

If they have a 'spliced together' recording, then this is actually considered 'wiretapping' in California (where they are located) if they do not let you know you are being recorded.

This has just happened to me! Thank goodness i didn't completely fall for it.  But i did give them my name and they already knew that we had a Ricoh Copier.  I talked to a guy named Sandy and ofcourse he told me that we were about to miss out on the deal that their toner prices were going up and i needed to order before the first of the year. He told me to tell the distributor that i talked to the manager, Bill Blake, for me to get it at the lower price. ???  Then the distributor called me and hour later noting that he knew i made an order yesterday.I said no they called me today. Thank goodness i looked this up to see that it was indeed a scam before i confirmed anything. Unfortunately they do have my name which makes me very nervous. I don't see how these people sleep at night!  This is the 3rd or 4th time they have called me. The next time they call i'm telling them that i have reported them already and to not call me again. Hopefully that will work. Please if you have a bad feeling about a call it's usually for a reason.

Another INTECH DISTRIBUTION INC call and delivery of toner here.  They called the day before claiming that the order was ready and that they just needed a name to ATTN the package to.  She gave them her name and low and behold there was a PO in her name the next day.

This time they even spliced together a recording of the call to make it sound like she did purchase it.

First of all our customer service reps have no buying power and have never purchased anything for the company, so when their "recording" asked the question "Are you responsible or authorized to make purchasing decisions and there was a recording of her saying "yes" it was clearly spliced together.  I think our legal department will have some fun with this one if INTECH tries to pursue it further.  Especially after finding this site to show that it's been going on for a while.

Same company Intech distribution, inc did this to me. I spoke to Ron Moss and he was very rude and wanted to still charge also would not give me supervisor name and or owner information. They also knew our information about our copier and the name of the girl who used to work here. They called 3 times. first time they said they were from xerox and they had missed our shipment and wanted to give us a discount on the late order. then he said there would be a shipping co calling to verify the information and i was to just say yes to authorization and to give his name for the discount to our previous order. what they did was scam you with the first call then record you with the second or third call. information for this company is

Same thing happened to me. A guy name Grant Stevens called one week. Not knowing that it was a scam I approved it, but the next day another guy called confirming my order. He made the mistake of saying that they were not affiliated with Canon of course at the end of our phone call after I had already confirmed my order. I got online and checked out Intech Distribution, and found this page. I called the 877 number and told the man to cancel my order. The Grant Stevens guy called again trying to confirm my order.

OMG I just fell for the "toner scam!" This is ridiculous. I am new to this company and the "Jim" guy calls me, apologizes that the toner was on a back order and that we would recieve the product the following day. Well being new, i thought ok sounds good. NOT  I feel violated. Stated above someone wrote if you can't "get business the honest way" don't go in business!!
My supervisor just got off the phone w/ some guy from the 1877# and said that "Jim" wasn't even at work yet. What a freaking scam!  I am seriously pissed. but it helps to know i'm not the only one that fell for it!

My company always receives these types of phone calls and thankfully I have never fell for it but I understand how easy it is to think its legit. I just received a phone call a few minutes ago from INTECH and the woman stated that they were sending us our new copier manual and they needed our model number. I told her no she did not need that information and she got very irate and called me a B****. I was in shock and told her she was so rude. I have dealt with those scams multiple times but never have I been called that because I told them no. I wish there was a way to track these people doing this and prosecute them. I think if this is how you choose to make a living you are pathetic.

I got a phone call at my new job from Intech Distributions saying that another employee from our office had ordered the toner earlier in the week and they were out he said he was calling to let us know that our toner was ready to be shipped I of course not knowing any different said OK and next thing i know we recieved the toner in the mail and an invoice for $478.81. For one toner? holy crap!
When i tried the toll free number it would not go thru so i wrote a letter stating that the toner was sent to us under false pretenses and we would not be paying for it and i sent the product back. I've gotten many phone calls such as this one but this is the only one i fell for.

I'm from Indiana and I've gotten calls from these guys many times since I'm a receptionist at my work. And everytime they call I always tell them to take me off their list and I or they hang up right after that, thinking its just another telemarketer calling and not thinking twice about it since here they can still call you for another six months once you tell them to take you off their list. Until today I never thought thought twice about looking up these people. The guy who called me today got pissed because I wouldn't give him my printer number and started calling me every name in the book. The guy was black (he said he was black in the middle of trying to scare me which didn't work cause I don't scare easily) with a black woman in the background (once I started to talk back at the guy she start to go off about how a black woman like her could kill a girl like me). So I looked them up and found that these are the same people you all are listing about on this site. Scammers! Go figure.

Today I got two toner cartridges for Cannon IR 2020. I didn't remember the phone call and so I called the 877 number. A bored sounding guy answered the phone. He didn't look me up in a computer just informed me that I did indeed speak with them, that they had the phone call recorded. I vaguely remember the call but remember that they had presented themselves as part of the Ray Morgan Company who does maintenance on our machines. He was abrupt and not at all helpful, but he did insist that he was not affiliated with RMC. I asked him the price of the cartridges. He told me $340. I compared the price online. They mostly sell for $35 dollars.
Seeing this thread, I realized the scam and was able to return it to them. I wrote a letter why I was returning them, and made sure to include the date that I received the package. We shall see if they try and protest when I don't pay them

The same thing that happened to "C" happened to me. I spoke with a man named "Jim Taylor". I don't order this stuff for our business so I had no idea about where we really order our toner. So I fell for it. He said that the woman who usually orders it put me on a list to order it to. He knew the machine number and the model, but I believe that he had someone else call early that week and ask question about the machine saying that they were just verifying the info about our copier. I had three phone calls about this, but it was hard for me to tell it was a scam. They were good.

I have had the pleasure of dealing w/ "Jim" who has called on numerous occasions saying that while I was out, another coworker placed an order for toner from Ricoh [which is the company that makes our copy machine]. B/c I was out sick, and it was completely plausible that someone ordered this, I authorized it. It arrived, clearly wasn't the correct toner, and I sent it back. Pretty sure they didn't refund the money. A few months ago, I get another call from "Jim", saying the same thing: that while I was out, a coworker placed an order. He kept saying at the beginning of every sentence that "this call is being recorded for your convenience, do you have any questions?". It didn't sound right, and after 10 obnoxious minutes on the phone w/ this man repeating the same thing over and over, he finally transfers me to someone else to make payment. This guy, when repeating back the order, said that their company (not Ricoh) would ship the order, and on delivery I would provided credit card info. He also stated very quickly at the end that their company was not Ricoh or affiliated w/ Ricoh. I then asked, "I'm sorry, who placed this order? You are not Ricoh?" And he quickly apologized for the inconvenience, and I asked again who placed this order and can I talk to a supervisor, but he just kept talking over me and ultimately hung up. I haven't received a phone call in a month now, but I'm sure there will be another one soon. This has happened at least 3x. I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. You all should do the same...

They called me 4 times, told me the same story they told everyone else. When I found this on the internet I caught on and called back to make sure they didn?t have any more info on my company.  They lied about the company they were calling from (Osay)? and someone gave them my name. He kept yelling at me saying that someone must have given him my info (which is not true) all they need is your name. They knew what we ordered. When i called back to speak to someone he yelled at me repeatedly over the phone and would not give me his name and then the person before him hung up on me. I did not order anything but i wanted to know what was going on.  I have NEVER had someone talk to me like that.  I do not like that they know my info my name. I asked him to please stop talking over me and stop rising my voice and he yelled too bad.  Just can?t get over it, so uncalled for. Please watch out.

call from Mike and i Belive rick. and another man who did not give me his name.

Intech Distribution rep called our customer and said his name is Micheal, he informed our customer that toner price is going up and the customer should purchase now. After selling toner to our customer, they sent their invoice to our customer. We found out when our customer called and wanted to speak to Michael. Now we know that Intech Distribution is going around to steal people business and using different company name to sell.

yeah...these people are great....when I first took over here, they were auto-shipping. I put a stop to it. They constantly called our receptionist to see what model our 'new' Xerox machines were, which we wouldn't tell them. Now, after about a year, they are calling again. This time they actually got through to me by saying they were Xerox Warehouse. Yes...they actually blatantly LIED about being from Xerox. The gentleman said he just took over the Warehouse distribution for Xerox and needed to confirm information. Which I know Xerox has. Because we are under contract. For years. And we get toner for no cost under the contract terms. So why would they need to confirm my model #, address and the PRICE? Because he was a liar.

Beware this place, their tactics and any packages that may arrive from United Supply...unless they've changed that name now.

Not only did I fall victim to the scam of them selling me toner, but they have continuously sent me more toner to full-fill my "order" for the end of the year.  Even after I have explicitly told them to not send me any more toner.  Currently in the returns process for the latest shipment, I will be filling out numerous violation reports on this Company.

My name is Kevin and I have recently fallen victim to the ?toner phoner scam? (check out this link, it describes almost exactly what happened to me http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/supplies.asp).  I received a call about toner for our copy machine and the caller stated that I only have a limited amount of toner cartridges left under our current contract and also stated I needed to hurry and purchase while I can.  Since I had just requested a replacement toner cartridge from the company we lease from I assumed the contract this caller was referring to was the contract with our leasing company so I agreed to have him send the product.  To my surprise I got two toner cartrides, one from Intech distribution (the toner phoner scammers) and one from our leasing company.

I have tried to reason with Intech Distribution Inc. and I was unable to get them to budge.  Unfortunately I did not realize I was being scammed until after the 15 days which is outlined in their return policy.  I have pleaded with them even going as far as offering to pay for the shipping if I can return the item and get the amount invoiced back.

The address of this company is:

6520 Platt Ave. #445
West Hills, CA 91307
Phone number 877-777-4408

Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to make this right or at least put a stop to this illegal activity so others are not tricked into giving this company money.

Same deal here. The company reached on of our CSR's told her the price of our toner was going up. They knew which printer we owned somehow. Next thing you know a toner box shows up with her name in the PO field. She never authorized this shipment. Their cost for the toner is at least $50 higher per unit than the going rate. I shipped the toner back to them and told them not to send us anything else. This is a dishonest way of doing business. If you can't get customers honestly then you need to find a new line of business.
