I refuse to answer unknown called or numbers I don't recognize. I've been dealing with various callers like this for over a year now. Some even threaten to take me to jail. All of them are trying to collect an old debt from a check cashing joint. I paid it once and the original company never seen the money. i have since settled the debt with the corporate office of the original debtor. These callers are scam artists!!! What these low life's don't realize is I went through a home buyers process 6 months ago. ALL NEGATIVE DEBT of mine had to be WIPED FREE to obtain the loan. So I can comfortably say. Keep calling. Keep threatening. Cause I don't owe you s***!!!

i also do wish you all the luck in the world...never admit you acknowledge the debt also your protected if your on a pension and ssi or ssdi they can not garnish your salary only the irs can
next time a low life sleazy debt collector calls you,,you get his info, address not po box and send him a certified letter requesting his signature to be returned to you that he received your letter
then you write you want full validation per FDCPA ACT15USC.16g2g.Sec.809(b)
1..when you opened and closed the account
2..all charges and payments made you have the right to make sure there wasnt any fraudulent charges made on the account and also that all payments made by you was credited towards the account
3..you want to know how they accrued the interest,,when these low lifes do the math they always make a mistake in there favor
4..you want to see the contract with your signature on it
if they cant validate then the debt is invalid and the law is on your side 100%
i would say 99% of these low lifes cannot validate a debt..
you have the upper hand over them USE IT

Debt Collector
retirementsEric. I want you to think about something. Not all of us avoid answering the telephone because we are ducking bill collectors out of shirking responsibility. We are ducking bottom feeders with tiny companies that buy old, written off, debts. Some of these companies are legitimate businesses, though use less than ethical standards, and methods in their attempts to collect these debts that have passed through many hands after being written off, and the money, if collected goes straight into their coffers, none goes to the original debt holder. Ask them for something with your signature, and they won't tell you this, but they haven't anything with your signature. Many of these companies aren't legitimate, but are criminal organizations. They grab your identity, and your money, and are gone as quickly as they appeared. All of these outfits have a trick where they get you to positively identify yourself, and, apparently, by doing so you are legally agreeing that you owe the debt that they're calling you about. You'll soon get a court summons. I know this because it happened to me, twice! I NO longer answer unknown, toll free, private, or not known to me phone calls. Ever. The two debts I got sued into pop paying went to the, several times down the line, collector. Both being law firms that specialize in buying up old, written off debts. No way I can afford an attorney, it's cheaper just to work out a deal, and make payments. What got me in this financial mess was a spinal cord tumor, at age 49, that ended a 30 year career that was near it's peak. I went from a busy professional, that was well respected, and highly qualified & knowledgeable in his field, to physically disabled, unable to even do a desk job (my profession required me to be on my feet pretty much constantly) because of agonizing pain in any position, and requiring a cane permanently to be able to walk. I can't even drive now at 56. This also ended my wife's career of 20+ years shortly afterwards due to having to care for me. We went from great jobs, great pay & benefits, job security, and a nice tidy six figure income. We had decent
retirements coming along. We now live on one third of our working income, lower five figure with no benefits, no raises except the 1.x % that SS gives occasionally. I have Medicare because I get SSDI. She has NO healthcare coverage because premiums for crappy coverage for just her run $600+ per month! There's currently three generations living under our roof. We are swamped with debt. We struggle every month to get by. My wife tried working a minimum wage part time job one mile from home that she was so overqualified for it wasn't funny. She worked for a while, then I was suddenly hospitalized, and my Dr. told my wife that she needed to stay with me 24/7. That ended her work. She managed to make a couple thousand. When we did our taxes, my "nontaxable" SSDI suddenly became partly taxable income because she made a little extra money! This ended up negating what she had made!
So, "Judge not, so you be not judged."

Debt Collector
it's simple, debt collector.  if you have nothing to hide or do not owe any back debt, then all you need to do is answer the phone, they will ask for a person that likely isn't you (unless you're ducking the bill collectors) and you simply notify them if they do not have the correct individual and they will stop calling.  Difficult, I know.
