Got a call on my cell phone. Caller said they were from GMAC and were asking for a person whose name I have never heard of. Told the caller that there was no such person at the number they called. Caller said they would remove this number from their list. We will see. I have had this number since they came out with the "brick" and to the best of my knowledge no one ever had the number I have before I did. I, personally, have never had a loan of any sort with GMAC.

They used to be GMAC mortgage company, until they filed bankruptcy. The company is now called Ocwen loan servicing.  They started calling my mother at her home over 700miles away from where I live. They were looking to speak with me about my mortgage.
I don't believe them, because my mortgage company has all my information on me. Where I live, my home,cell and work number.
Just hope they leave my mom alone.

Every day, early in the morning, at dinner time, and later in the evening, this number has been calling repeatedly for several weeks now.  The caller ID associated with the number reads out as "NOT PROVIDED."  Of course neither I nor my wife picks up the phone for ANY "NOT PROVIDED" Caller Id'd call.  We are on the national DO NOT CALL list, which is worthless.

They called today and caught me off guard and wanted to verify my information.  I did not have a GMAC mortgage and never have.  I was told to just provide my last 4 of my SSN which I told them they shouldn't be calling me to verify my info and that they should already have it.  They had me mixed up with someone else apparently.

I then called GMAC to notify them and they told me no, they were not a GMAC company.

I called the number back and spoke to someone who really didn't know how to handle the situation.  He assured me they were legit.  After he wouldn't give me more info, I asked to speak to the manager multiple times.  Eventually I spoke to a manager who did a great job and gave me the information I needed to prove it was not a scamming operation.  Come to find out, they are a contracted company who updates contact information.  Why they need this type of service, I am guessing because individuals abandon their mortgages and don't update info.  There still needs to be more transparency.

They are legit but the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at GMAC.  I told the manager to make sure they get on board or people like myself will be likely contacting authorities for investigation.

Received a call from this phone number....Saying they are calling from GMAC...asking for my brother in law or sister in law....Saying they needed to verify their info..I told them they do not live here.....asked if I knew them...I told him that I didn't need to answer that....then asked if I had another # to contact them...I told him NO and told him to remove my phone # from their data base

we're a couple of months behind.  payment arrangements have been made with gmac at their number 800-850-4622.  

they sent some lame document in the mail as well.

don't give them any info.  just deal with gmac.

Calls multiple times daily! When I called back anonymously to see who it is that calls, a rep from GMAC answers. I don't have any idea how they got my cell #. They are non-stop, wish I could put an end to them calling! They don't leave any messages either if you don't answer. Just seem like a scam so I will not give them the time of day.

GMAC called me but since I was on the line talking to my mother I ignored the call about an hour later Gmac called me from 877 822- 0596 thinking I would not recognize the number and answer their call..... their tricks do not fool me because I marked their number as a DO NOT ANSWER they offend identify themselves as GMAC and pretend to be looking for someone else. In hopes that I identify myself .....They make me sick

Got a call from GMAC Mortgage asking for my sister-in-law under her old name...changed her name 7 years ago!  She doesn't know anything about GMAC.

It's not GMAC directly.  It is a company they source to to verify property address and phone contact when they have had difficulty contacting home owners.  It's their last step before starting foreclosure proceedings.  No I don't work for them. I have a mortgage with GMAC. I was concerned as well especially when they asked for SS verification.  I asked them to prove they are working with GMAC and the guy rudely said you'll have to trust me.  I told them as I had just spoken directly with GMAC a couple of days ago I did not and would call their customer service directly and hung up.  When I spoke with GMAC they said it was an outside company they work with to verify as I indicated early, however he did apologize for how it was handled.  If you don't have an account with GMAC and they contact you then you probably know someone that does and you came up in this company's search for info about that person, or you have a number that person previously held.  Proceed according. Been getting these calls on my cell. They call 7-8 times a day with no message. So finally i got sick of it and called it back. As stated above they said its GMAC. I told her to stop calling me there was no reason for this call anyways I'm current. I hung up and called the CS line at GMAC and it is a 3rd party company, which is bad news, but they are doing verification calls. The lady I spoke to at GMAC read the notes to me. So I guess it's legit but I'm still not comfortable giving my info that my mortgage company already has.

Got a  call from this same number.  They asked for my daughter who has not lived at home since 1985 and has lived in a different state for 21 years.  I was told that my number would be removed from their calling list.  We'll see!

I got a call today asking for my mother.  Like others say here on this website, she lives on the other side of the country, has never lived at my address.  . I called them back and they referenced me by their phone number.  I told them my mother doesn't live here... I did not give them her phone number and so they asked me to have her call them.  Then... I found this website and got wise.  I called them back again and said that I can't figure out how they got my number or why they would call me in the first place.  My number was not in the database.  Interesting.  I asked if they are a division of GMAC.  Time and time again they said that they're a division of GMAC Verification.  Mortgage or auto?  GMAC Verification.  I asked for their address.  They'd have to look it up.  I asked if that was really necessary. Did the guy on the phone not know where he went to get to work?  He couldn't disclose the information.  He could also not disclose any information about my mother. Finally he said "Ma'am this call is clearly not getting us anywhere."

My father received a call from this number asking for my mother who passed away last year and they have been divorced for more than 20years. Very strange and I believe this is a "fisher" call...

I just received a call from that number, didn't answer the call & went my voice mail.  They left no name or company name.  I hate telemarketers & I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST!!!!!

For two mornings in a row after only 3 rings I have missed this call.  After viewing the caller ID and seeing the Toll Free number, I ignored it, but got curious.  Thanks for the info that this is bogus.  On the 9th my "Do Not Call"registration should be effective.  I will certainly report them if I get a call after this date.

I have gotten 5 calls from them just this morning alone! And they never let the phone ring more then four times! Something seems very fishy here...not sure what they want but I know now not to give them any information!!!

I have been getting phone calls from Pinacle Recovery, apparently a debt collector. A client that I represented years ago gave them my phone number but I repeatedly told them that "I am not David Hagberg so please stop calling this number". They promised to remove my number but never stopped calling me.

It is GMAC Financing. Have no idea why they called me, They confirmed that I do not have any accounts with them.

Got a call from this number on my work phone!(no idea how they got that)  and they asked for someone with a different first name but same last name.  I called them back; the operator seemed to get flustered when I began to question her and stating I had no account with GMAC.  She then asked to confirm the number she called me from and I ask why do you need it? if you apparently have it already. She quickly changed the subject, said it was a mistake and said she'd remove me from their list and hung up.

I've gotten this call every day for a week on my cell.
When you call it back (from a company line, of course), they identify themselves as GMAC mortgage.
If you give them the number they are trying to call, your number doesn't show up in their system, so they offer to look it up by your name.

It is possible to send a fraudulent caller ID, and it is also possible to program, say, a customer service number as opposed to the number of the actual line.

Basically, I'm going to work through my phone provider and block it that way.

Received a call sking for my sister-in-law .  She has never resided w/me,lives 500 miles away & obviously has different last name. Caller ID Text is "UNAVAILABLE". ....WEIRD

have received several calls from this number i finally answered caller stated me was from gmac  and my account was past due and then asked for my s.s #  i don't have any account w/ gmac -- sounds like a scam !!

Matt, Michelle, George, and others have called multiple times a day.  They ask for my sister who live several states away.  Never ask for her husband who absolutely would be on any account of theirs.  Though not every time, they do usually leave a message and when they do you can clearly hear several other "GMAC" employees making similar calls in the background!  When I did answer one call there wasn't anybody on the line to talk to me.  I assumed my call was being re-routed and hung up.  My sister has called the real GMAC customer service herself, and not-so-surprise....they were not trying to call her.  These people are annoying and harrassing.  I have reported them several times to the government "Do Not Call" folks and another not-so-surprise.....nothing is done!  If nobody is there for me to request being taken off their list that should clearly state they shouldn't be calling in the first place, and the agencies that govern these things aren't doing their jobs, what options do we have left?

GMAC Mortgage Verification Department. This is a project which resides in South Texas. Company that is in charge of this project "Penncro Associates".

Verifies information, transfers to customer care service. Includes Dallas account with GMAC and Waterloo accounts.

They get the numbers from "www.whitepages.com" and through a method called "skiptracing". Employees were not given a choice about this project. It truly is part of GMAC, only department with GMAC that knows about this department is Customer Service.

They verify information. Property address, mailing address, phone numbers, alternate numbers, and transfer to customer care.

When you recieve a call, ask for a supervisor. They will say to hold, YOU will not be placed with a supervisor at this moment. Instead you will talk with a "team lead". Ask this person to get you the manager. Manager will clearly state that he is the manager. If he is not in ask for a time when he will be in, they will state you cannot speak with him or he is in a meeting. This is a lie.

This number calls me multiple times EVERY DAY.  Its just 1:03 pm and I have already received 7 calls from this number today.  They will call back to back and I am not understanding.  I have answered a couple time and just get dead air.   I really wish something could be done because this should definitely be considered harassment.

That JENN in the previous message is either working for the scammer or naive. This is a scam.
