I too got the same phone call along with an extension number. What's bothers me is they called my brother whom I only use as a work reference also. They told him I or my lawyer needed to contact them about a legal matter. Hello, third party disclosure law. And yes, I also heard the background noises. This has SCAM written all over it. I think they use any numbers you have on a resume on monster or career builders. Total b.s.

Unknown, First identify you're self !
You need to understand ones you borrow money from any of these pay day loans you need to pay them back. People believe this is free money and others just believe on defrauding a financial institution is the simple way to get money fast.Lets remember you have a contract out there making you responsible for all interest, penalties and all legal fees!. They have all the rights to collect there money  and to file judgment for bridge of contract. I believe, if you read the judgment who is filling is an Attorney in you're state  Right ?  he is representing a collection agency or maybe an attorney office in another state. Taking loans with the intention not to pay them back its defrauding a financial institution but if this is not you case no need to worry. Ones you go to court they will show prove of how many letters have been sent to you and if you didn't receive one out of 15 letters then will be difficult to prove you didn't receive one. Make things simple next time, call the collection agency or the pay day loan and negotiate payment or request a settlement to close you account . Best wishes

I talk to my dad and he said the attorney file a civil Judgment for bridge of contract . I now have to go to a court for $1200.00 that I borrow and the judgment is for $2700.00. I call them back and they refused to talk to me cause they say its no longer with there office. What's next?

Did they say they were from a law firm ? This man with a foreign accent left me a message so for curiousity sake I called it back and a Hispanic woman had recorded message saying it was such and such law firm but I could not understand it all. When the man left a voicemail, it was strange because the background noise was numerous people talking like when a telemarketer calls you.
DO you remember anything about the call itself?

First, you can always contact and settle with the original debtor. It saves them money, so it is in their best interest. Unless they sent you a certified letter telling you all of the particulars, they can't really do anything. Hire an attorney, and sue their behind. It is against the law to make the kind of threats that they are making against you.

Really? They have to send you a bill by registered mail before they can do anything. This is a civil matter; thus, not a criminal matter. We do not have debtor's prisons in the United States. Part of why they keep calling is that they are not licensed, and therefore they have limited collection ability. In most cases the debtor has already met the maximum repayment requirements, and the collector will not get anything. Another problem they have is if they have gone beyond the statute of limitations; hence, a noncollectable debt.

I just gat served with a summons and complaint to go to court here in Illinois. I remember this company calling me back in January and today they said they can't talk to me. I called the Law Firm and they said I have to follow the complain to go to court. What can I do to deal with this out of court?

Jack, did you sign a contract? Be aware, the financial institution has all the right to retain an Attorney in you're state to persue a judgment against you and recover the funds. Best case scenario, work payment arragments if you know you are responsible. I personally did because i am not trying to fraud no one and i need this away from my credit report. best luck to you!!!

They call me also Carlos and the question you need to ask you're self is this, Did you took the loan with the intention not to pay it ? This short terms loans have a contract that make you responsible for all legal fees if they go after you. Taking out a loan when in need is, without doubt, permissible, for it is something that human beings at times may need to do. However, when taking out a loan, one must have a firm and resolute intention of paying it back if not face the consequences. Make sure to stay away from fraud.

Why, I gat serve with a complain to go to court if I told them I was without a job. I call Hydra Financial and try to talk to them and no one is willing to talk to me , they sent me to the attorney office in IL that now is charging me attorneys fee. I assume I will go to court cause I cant pay no one.

I was checking the state laws concerning bad checks and most see this: In most cases, NSF checks are not considered under the bad check law if they are used to pay an antecedent debt. Therefore, if a debtor gives a debtor an NSF check to pay a note payment or to pay an invoice that is on account, the act generally does not fall within the bad check law. However, if the debtor provides a creditor with a NSF check , then that act does fall within the bad check laws. In many cases we have people open loans just to defraud the financial institution and in many cases they end up in jail. Illinois. Treble amount of check but not less than $100 nor more than $500 plus attorney's fees and court costs. If you made the decision of pulling free money from any financial institution and they have you check information and a contract,  make sure you pay this before is to late.  see Charles vs Global holding
