I got a call from Chris Davis, very polite and professional. I landed a contract job with them and I was able to get back to the job market after 10 months with no umemployment. I will work with them anytime, they are great.

I agree, an absolutely childish and irresponsible company especially if you decide not to accept a job with them. They have a few companies under the Entegee division (Engineering Help Network. (508) 238-5818 is also one of their head hunter sites). One recruiter (Chris Lombardi) left me threatening calls even after I declined two positions when offered after I told him I would only think about it. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!

This company just llanded me a great job at Northrop Grumman. A 2 year assignment at $55 per hour. They are a division of Entegee and I dealt with John Caliri and Joe Cox. These guys are a recruiting division and are top notch.
Nice kids.

Forgot to mention, to the guy who got a fairly incompetent phonecall.

Call back and don't tell them who called you. Just like buying a car, if your salesman sucks, get a different salesman. I have worked with a Dan recently who got me an interview, and Eric Caldwell who got me a job.

Sales staffs have high turnover, everywhere.

The jobs for defense contractors are always vague until you're very interested. Discretion is often the reason for have a contracting house find your staff. Ask anyone at Robert Half (largest staffing company in world) where I started my career at their Eastern US Corporate office.

But that's no excuse, if the sales person is not communicating with you, hang up, call back, ask for someone else. Someone else there will be more than happy to get credit for finding you.

For those of you still confused about these phone calls, perhaps I can offer a different perspective than the entegee VP above.

I am an employee of NER/Entegee/MPS.

They are also known as ATSI, NASA (strange right?), EHN, NER, some name similar to TechSystems also. I have worked at two different jobs for ATSI and start a new one next week for NER. The reason they have not been on the forefront of a nice, savvy, website is because a vast majority of their positions are positions that require security clearance and background, so they solicit employees instead of letting employees solicit them.

Website: entegee has a website, mps has a website, ner now has a website. ATSI has two websites, but even as an employee it doesn't appear that either of them are the same ATSI, inc. based near Boston or their western office that was in Arizona.

Payroll scams: they pay their contractors every week, by check or direct deposit. Their work week is monday to sunday for timesheets. You fax in your timesheet like many lower end job-shops at the end of the week. Payroll is prompt. Checks are often delivered by fed/ex to the job site at a split expense to employee/employer via overnight delivery. Direct Deposit is set up by week 3 if paperwork is submitted in a timely manner. I have paid for a house and new car with the money they have paid me and may soon be moving on the same reliability.

The woman that did payroll during my first two contracts was one of the most helpful and compassionate accountants I have ever worked with. I only ever had 1 paycheck that did not magically appear on time for me, she worked late and got me the direct deposit reprocessed same-day. Which is as good as possible. When the corporate office (entegee) forgot to send me my w-2 for several months (which is common and normal for them, despite federal regulations) the same accountant got it for me and fed/exed it to me on April 13th so I could file on time.

The only negative issue I have ever had with any company in this organization is getting a w-2 at the end of the year, and you will need to save money to pay local income taxes where applicable since they do not withhold that appropriately outside of Massachusetts.

The bottom line is: the entegee companies are legit. They don't hire many people to low paying (under 20/hour) jobs, so take the call, you may be getting a big raise when you take it, I just got a 10k raise over my last position. Their service is comparable to a headhunter who also does your payroll for you since they will find you with job in hand. There is some financial headache when it comes to taxes, but if you're making that kind of money you can afford an hour to figure out what they don't. Make sure you start harassing them for your w-2 on January 1 or you may not get one. Don't blame the recruiters for that, or even your local accountant, blame the entegee corporate accounting office.

Otherwise, they will leave you alone at work. Once you're employed, they treat you like you work for the client not for them. Enjoy your new job. Enjoy your new payroll. Happy new year.

Got a call from these people and inquired about the position. The info was vague, at best. I asked the rep to send some info to my email. It's been a day and still nothing. Even if the company IS legitimate, I don't think I care to deal with someone who puts so little effort into their job.

I received a call from Darren for New Era REcruiting West . Which was weird because I just got finished dealing with a shady recruiter that day where I wound up formally forbidding them from representing me. And then outof the blue I get this call from New Era Recruiting West and it's an 888 number.

It seems shady recruiters use toll free numbers to try and capture information about you. Why not provide a toll number?

I don't think Darren will  be getting a call from me.

Do NOT do business with these people.  Childish and unprofessional staff when you turn down a job offer.  They will make you an offer, tell you that it's guaranteed, and then claim that they had to "renegotiate" with "someone" AFTER you accept the job with the client company.  Terrible, terrible group.

I got a call from Chris Davis from NER West as well. Asked me to call back on the 888-287-6167 number and I did. And though I think I didn't speak to Chris Davis in person, I spoke to somebody from NER West. They're looking for people who can join immediately but I wouldn't graduate until May'10. So, did not actually sound like a fake. does it. He said he's gonna keep my resume on file and contact me in a month if there are positions. So, try calling them now. The number works! and what I think is that, they get their number to be 'with held' or 'unknown' because they don't want people to keep calling them on their number. I think so. I'm not sure!

I received a call from the same number and then an email as follows:
" My name is Chris Davis and I?m a recruiter with NER West.  I came across your resume on Monster and I have an opening for a Field Test Engineer with a BSEE.
Please contact me if you?re looking for work

I did some research and came across this website and thank god, I did not pick up their call yesterday. I am not so keen about making a fortune with a company that I cannot even find on Google...

Thanks guys....

Received call from someone at the NER West office, claiming to be from Scottsdale, would not give me info on the company he was interviewing for.  I agreed to send him a fresh copy of my resume.  This guy calls me back tells me he wants to forward my resume but needs the last 4 numbres of my social security number.

I JUMPED ON THE BRAKES RIGHT THERE.  I told them they could review my info without having to ask for this info and did not feel comfortable.  I have very high doubts this is legitimate.  I DO NOT TRUST THEM.  A "manager" from the same office called giving me a 888 number different than the one from my 1st contact, wow that stinks to high heaven.

Yes 888 number is same as posted above in thread 888-287-6167 I have no intention on calling these people.

I just received a voice mail from this NER West outfit. The call preceeding the message came up as "New Call"...  no number listed what so ever. That's when I started back checking and the first site to come up was this one. Yes, I remain skeptical.

I received a call from Colin who said he was from NER West. He said he found my resume on Careerbuilder and wanted to talk about a position they have available. He left the 888-287-6167 number but when I called the number, I was told the number was "no longer in service".... ????

ALSO, One of the things I HATE most about getting a phone call from someone is when they call me and on my cell phone it says "unknown" ... I never answer ANY call rom an "unknown" number and I am wondering why they are being so "sneaky" about it when they are calling....?

New Era Recruiting is a very legitimate company.  I was recently offered a job with them, and at a very good salary (with a Fortune 50 company).  My recruiter found my resume on a job board as well.  They have been extremly easy to work with, and did not ask for any of my personal information until they had Federal Expressed me a complete information packet as well as my contract (and after two face-to-face interviews with the compnay they were headhunting for).  I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a technical writing position.

Call from Joe Cox. He seemed to know about the Aviation industry pretty well
and seems legit. Did NOT ask for any info, personal or otherwise. I posted a profile & text resume @ C.E. Weekly (a very well known contract engineering publication) & if you read the post from KEVIN McLeod above, he is the President of Additional Technical Support Inc., which advertises in C.E.Weekly. So I'm pretty sure that's how they got my number. Anyway, they seem legit to me & I'm having them submit me for a job @ a well known mod facility. Will post if anything turns sour.

I was also contacted by Joe Cox from this number, and their e-mail points to the domain nerjobs.com, which does not have anything hosted. I was asked by Joe for a copy of my transcript and a 'tweaked' resume that emphasized the skills I was asked to have for the job they wanted to refer me to (definitely personal information). A quick google of the term "New Era Recruiting" points out that it is a generic term referring to the recent changes in the recruitment environment that resulted from the retiring of the baby boomer generation. A whois.net search on the domain does point to a legitimate staffing company (but doesn't guarantee accuracy of the search results). I don't understand the link between the supposed parent company nor can I find any information about "New Era Recruting" at the Better Business Bureau. Also, it was very difficult to understand what was being said. I would also recommend caution with any responses to this number, if they were a subsidiary of the company listed on whois, they should be listed by that company, and I cannot find them on the 'parent company's page. I would like to hear from someone confirming that this is a legitimate company, until then I will ignore them.

I also received a call this morning from a Joe Cox at this number. I received a call from him a few months back and never could find any information on the company so I never responded. Yesterday, I posted my resume on some additional job boards and got that call from him again today. Given all the info from the previous responders, I will continue to ignore this company. I am very concerned that we can't find any information about this company on the internet. After all, what legitimate company would not have their company name displayed on your caller id? Those of you that respond to them in the future, please be careful.

I too got a call from Christine P. (aka "Chrissy") about a job from New Era Recruiting today. She explained that she was in Boston found my resume on Monster and that New Era Recruiting worked Nationwide. She did ask some questions about my work history but not many and gave me this 877 number along with her extension # to reach her. Being cautious I checked out the business and couldn't find anything about this company.  She sent me an e-mail containing some of her contact info and in the e-mail address it says that their website should be at www.nerjobs.com but there's nothing there. A Dan from the same company left a message on my answering machine stating that he was located closer to me and the client and gave me the same phone number with a different extension to reach him. We'll see what tomorrow brings, so far everything seems legit. I don't have a caller id.

I have been speaking to a couple of different people at this number, and so far they seem legitimate. They originally called me saying they are New Era Recruiting and they viewd my resume from one of the jobs boards. They are interested in placing me in a technical job in the Southeastern US. They have NOT asked for any personal information and the third party companies they mention as being interested in hiring me are all legitimate.
