call had come in at 9:38 am. Had heard about spoofing, that I'd seen mentioned by someone. It's sad when you have to watch all calls coming through. Many of us, if we do see a call coming in, ignore them if it isn't a number we know.

Had received a missed call from this number a few minutes ago!

Got a call at work from my wife wanting to know why the excel bill was late. I checked with the real excel an I was current. I had to go to this Web site to prove it is a scam to her. What a %=//! $@hassle.

This number has called my cell twice today and nobody is there. Makes me creeped out a bit. Not anybody I know or want to hear from. Possibly a robocall or somebody who picked up on my cell number when I was elsewhere. Don't answer and block them.

This telephone number is definitely a scam. This telephone number was the topic of our local CBS Station only about two months ago. EXCEL Energy has a warning for everyone who receives a call from this number to UNDERSTAND THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM.
Hang up on them. Give them not money or information at all.

In most all instances the numbers are spoofed by the callers. This in turn could be some innocent persons phone or not. Knowing who the number belongs to doesn't always mean the phone owner is responsible for the calls. Have seen the scammers and frauds use actual attorney's names and business's to try and justify the scam. Have seen a illegal telemarketer (CCS) use a known entity's name & phone number to get the phone answered. I knew that person wasn't making the calls. Sadly, some folks get called and yelled at for something they didn't do, harassed and mistreated.
Use caution and realize that knowing a number does not make someone guilty of with the number spoofing going on..

Agree with someone else's comment; would like to know who the number really belongs to. Whoever it is, needs to get a life, not harrass everyone! !

This numbern888-220-8409 is an Excel Energy Scam that has been reported on KCNC Channel 4 New Denver, Colorado.
When they call here, they hang up due to it being a business number.
These people have hacked into an actual Excel number.
According to the news report they tell the person their power will be shut off unless they pay or wire monies to place the caller tells them.
Huge, Huge, Huge, Huge Scamm: HANG UP ON THIS NUMBER EVERY TIME THEY CALL

Continue to get missed calls from this number, starting as early as 8:30!
l 2014-03-19 15:37:57 Unknown
Have continued receiving calls from this number, off and on for about one month now. After reading all the other comments, when I was trying to find out who was calling, haven't wasted my time answering.
The calls have started as early as 8:30 a.m.; time at night has varied. They've called 1 - 4 times a day, at times. Very irritating!

Had just gotten another missed call by this 888 number. After having read other posts / comments, don't have time to waste on whoever it is!

Had another call come through from this number. Had asked a friend if he knew anything about it, or if he'd been contacted by that number. (He said it's a telemarketer)
Only info that comes up on my screen is just the number being called from. Don't those people ever give up?!

Just got called from this number at work. The number showed up on the caller ID as "800 Services" yet when I picked up, all I got was a prerecorded message saying the call was important and asking me to stay on the line for the next available representative. It did not identify itself or any service it supposedly offered, and I stayed on the line only long enough to jot down the information for FCC reporting.

Got a voicemail from this number, claiming to be Xcel with a courtesy call, asking to call back and give a specific reference number. Seems to be a tie between people feeling this is a scam and people thinking it's truly Xcel. My bill was not past due, but went ahead and paid it just in case that's what it was about - have been late with bills before and never once received a "courtesy call," so not fully buying it that that's what it is. Will see if they continue calling now that my account is fully paid... if anyone else knows for sure what this is about, please share!

This isnt a scam... it really is xcel energy. Yes its a collection place that handles accouts more then 32 days pass due. I got a call from them and thought it was a scam. I played around and asked them when I started my account, full payment history for a year, and asked them to verified al #s on accouts they nes everything. Theni call xcel 4999 number n told them I made a payment with that # n they called them on 3 way and I listened to the call. The xcel people give them my account # they pulled it up and told them I didnt make a payment and put their supervisor on the phone who verified everything again. They are hired from xcel to get late payments. The main xcel just makes them do their dirty work so they wont look bad. Now I always call then to make my payments and I dont have to wait on hold forever and I dont pay that bs processing fee 4.85 cents. Their are scams out their but this isnt one of them

I verified with Xcel that yes it is legit that the robocalls by West Asset are for accounts 31 days or more past due.
The billing specialist at Xcel told me that you don't need to pay West Asset, but can call Xcel directly.
Here is Xcel's official billing and service number: 1-800-895-4999
Paying Xcel directly will have your payment post to your account faster, and yes Xcel billing people were friendly.

I have received calls from this number a few times (to my work phone). When I picked up today, a recorded voice asked me to stay on the line for the next representative. I actually waited this time so I could ask them to take the number off their list.
After about 30 seconds, a live person picked up, identified himself as being with Xcel Energy, and asked for a woman who I do not know. I said she was not at this line. The operator, who seemed like a nice guy, apologized and said they'd take the number off their call list.

Have received calls at work from this number almost every day for the past couple of weeks. The recording says "stay on the line for the next ..." Click. Really? I'm going to spend my time waiting for one of their sales/scammer people to have the time to get around to actually trying to scam me? Not likely.
jenalyn 2013-05-24 21:46:44 Debt Collector
This indeed is west asset management. It is a company xcel hired (much like mafia thugs) to get you to pay your bill earlier since you are late. If you call xcel directly they are much easier to talk to and they will make a note of whatever day you're paying and if the calls still don't stop if you have access to implement a block I suggest you try that. Exactly what I'm doing and the lady at xcel was awesome. I truly hate companies who hire "bill collectors" of the sort to hound you if you're late with a bill course, I am late on purpose because I hate xcel. I would get rid of them if I could so I protest by making them send me late notices and I pay them at the last minute even though I've got the dough to do it earlier. Silly maybe but it makes me feel better.

THis number keeps callign me.
bbgirl 2013-03-14 19:32:39 Unknown
It is not true that the real Xcel will never call you! They will do courtesy calls but the automated call is just a message to call Xcel. A good rule of thumb for any callers claiming to be a company is to refuse information and then make a call to the real company and check into it.
I just got one of these calls and when I called Xcel I do have an overdue bill but it was not for the amount that was claimed. Xcel (the REAL Xcel) said if they call back to ask for their agent number and what department they are calling from.

Been getting a call from this number several times past couple of weeks. It starts out as a recording about home break-ins and then wants to put a home security company sign in our lawn. Didn't stay on the line long enough to find out what company it was.

30 DEC 2011 - Warning: This is "ROBO-CALL" MISERY. If this number is calling you, IT'S A RECORDING! Please don't waste your time trying to answer this number, unless you actually are a customer of Excel Energy Co., or unless you think that it's for your own overdue bills.
Here is what happened: 607-252-6856 kept calling us. We received the 888-220-8409 number when we finally tried to find out who kept calling us, day and night from the unfamiliar (607)area code. (Calls came all day, for weeks, arriving from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., to 10:30 p.m. Upon our answering the 607 incoming call, A RECORDING SPOKE, telling us, "This call is for JASON OSBORNE: Please call 888-220-8409, regarding your account. Give the reference number 156398."
They had a wrong number! "We are NOT Jason Osborne!" So, we called the number that (607) gave to us, namely 888-220-8409.
If this is happening to you, PLEASE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME PHONING EITHER NUMBER--(888), OR (607)! Service Representatives did NOT answer--only a system telling us that we had reached Excel Energy, and to wait and wait for the Representative--but that they were all busy. Then, it finally decided that we had waited long enough, and it told us to put in a box number, or to wait to "leave a message." As soon as it gives you a beep, though, it promptly announces to you, "This box is full. Please call back later. Good-bye." And it HANGS UP ON YOUR CALL!
How RUDE!
It appears to us that Excel Energy must feel perfectly comfortable harassing perfect strangers, and that it doesn't care about anyone! If it did care, it would have made decent provision for innocent people--offering a writing address to which they can respond. Not even our own own cell phone company is able to stop these "spam calls." That means we are still going to continue to experience them, even though we have phoned and tried to do the right thing!
TIME OF CALLS: Daily, from eight a.m., to half-past 11:00 a.m., and then again at dinner time, or at 10:00 p.m. or later. Please...ATTORNEYS...! Can you do something about this? There are probably thousands of people who are very upset. They will bless your kindness, and your goodness of heart and spirit, if only you can stop this frustrating thing from happening to everyone, over and over again.
WE CARE ABOUT YOU! Best Wishes, and Happy New Year, 2012!
