I've finally realized that picking up on an 800 number is nuts.  I let the phone ring; if the caller really wants to talk to me he'll endure six rings and leave a message on my answering machine.  The first time these "Microsoft" mutts called with a computer peril message I let the guy try to take me through the steps, unsuccessfully for him, until he finally said a bad word to me and hung up.  The second time I asked where he was calling from.  He said Brooklyn.  I said "Really? What's the nearest subway station to your office?" Crickets.  These bums call my private phone before 9am some days. A pox on them all.
Can't believe this worked

I usually just don't answer numbers I don't recognize, but decided to pick this one up.  All I said was "hello" and the guy started talking.  "I am from Microsoft computers....may I speak to (my husband's name)?"  I said "Sorry, no one here by that name.  You must have the wrong number."  He apologized for calling and hung up.

I am ROFLMAO.  And of course I added the number to my blocked numbers list.

Posed as Microsoft tech support company and claimed to know I had downloaded malware because claimed to know I had older version of "windows".
I told him I did not believe him and that I doubted that he worked for any such company, I then asked him to remove our number from whatever list he had us on and to not call again.
Unbelievable he called back within a few seconds and told me i was rude for hanging up on him and that I confirmed the stereotype that I was an Islamic extremist. (I do have a Middle eastern last name by marriage!!)
It was all very strange...do not answer this call, and if you do do not give them ANY information.

These people are so sick. They called my home. Of course I am on a do not call list. The guy said that there is something wrong with my computer. I sounded alarmed and asked him what I should do. He told me to bring it to best buy. The geek squad would help me.  I hung up. My confusion is how can best buy people be in on this scam?  I am confused about that.  AND I do not want to call best buy and ask them.  A scam is a scam no matter who is involved or how they are involved.

Got a call from "Tony" at Microsoft stating he represented Microsoft and I had a virus on one of my computers. I advised him I have updated virus protection on all my computers and he told me that I needed to re check my computer for a virus. I lied and told him I work for Microsoft and he hung up. My first clue was the way he said his name was like he was reading it and he wasn't sure of the pronunciation.

Go for it dude......it keeps some of the crooks off the street....improves the cash-flow in the underworld......and most importantly allows these leaches to somehow continue to convince honest folks to shell out good money for something they neither need, can afford nor have any business buying.
Think it was Will Rodgers who coined. "There's a sucker born every minute". Don't be one of them.....

Been waiting for them to call me.  I do computer work and a lot of my clients get called from them.  They pretend to be from Microsoft or a service of Microsoft and was told your p.c. has issues and making a call to you to let you know.  They will take over your p.c. (you have to let them in SO DON'T), show you all the problems (that their software just flashes during a can that is scanning nothing) and then for $199 will fix them.  In the mean time, have had several users have files copied while the scan is going on.

I let them on a machine I had in the shop that was infected with a worm.  Once they got on, the worm should have worked it's way back to them and hopefully messed up their call center.

These people are lowlife scammers, who never seem to give up with the nuisance calls.  Have this number blocked, but they shall probably change to calling through a new number soon.

Just got a call from 888-232-1509 and a foreign voice said they have been seeing errors on my computer.  I have had this call before and ignored most of the time but answered twice. Same schpiel. This time I told them I didn't have a computer and hung up.  I'm going to report them as I am to be on the DNC list, for what that's worth.

Why do they keep calling people who are on the  DNC list and keep calling when you ask them to not call again. When you block their number why do they then call from another number and today called from a totally blocked number showing no caller id or phone number just 000000000  Unknown....Can you explain why a legit company would do this??

Could you please tell Mike Lawson to have his agents respect the DNC list of us who DO not want to be harassed. Also when I blocked their number they soon call from another one..today they called fro a number that had NO caller ID or PHONE number.
When you call this number there is no answer...does that sound legit to you?  Please let Mike know this is NOT good business practices if he is legit ( I doubt it) and have his agents be more professional.

The pay no attention that you are on the DNC list ...I block their number but soon as I do that they call from another number.
I have filed many reports with the FDC but seems to do no good. Wish there was a way to stop theses harassing calls.

I just got a call from this number as well.  I couldn't understand the accent and kept asking "who"?  They said Microsoft Tech Support.  When I said that I don't know who this is, they somewhat sheepishly said "ok, thank you" and hung up.
