I got a txt msg asking me to call this # as well. I applied to a bunch of clerical type of jobs in charlotte from CL. the caller # is 704-517-8864. I would never discuss a job offer from a text message.

All of the jobs I've been applying for are on CareerBuilder, not Craigslist.  I've received numerous text messages.  The last couple weeks, I've been getting them right after 5 p.m. on Fridays like clockwork.  They read.....Hi _____, I just reviewed your application for the Administrative position you applied for.  Please call me at 888-523-1167.  It has come from the following Charlotte, NC area code...704-517-8864.  I've also received other texts that list a different position from this number, but this is the most frequent, and basically what I've been applying for.  I am becoming hesitant to apply for any online jobs anymore, but that is basically how almost all companies are hiring now.  It's sad.

I got 3 messages from a 704# telling me to call an 888# about a position. Good thing I keep track of all jobs I apply for so I know which positions I actually applied for. I had someone call the 888# for me and was told they answered Employee Network and asked for the "number you put on your application." I figured something was wrong when a potential employer contacts you via TEXT message! Anyway...I googled the 704# and ended up here. BE AWARE it's a scam!

I received a message twice from a 404# about a "guest services" position. I don't remember applying for that type of job. And I also know that employers dont text people about jobs. Watch out everyone! It really is sad that people would get your hopes up knowing they are trying to take your money and time! Good luck!

Like a few of you,  I've got the same message form a 704# to call an 888#. But my thing is that I've NEVER looked on Craigslist for a job, so I have no idea where these are coming from. These scammers are getting smart...we just have to STAY SMARTER!

It's easier to convince vulnerable people to part with their $. IDs are valuable commodities that can be used to open bank accounts for money laundering, open credit card accounts that you will be liable for, etc.

Employment scams (where there is *NO* job) include but are not limited to:
1. Victims pay $$$ up front for required crap like uniforms, certification, background check, 1/2 airline ticket, etc.
2. You don't quite qualify for the job but are counseled to go back to school (scammer gets paid on college referral).
3. You give your personal info because you believe you are applying for a real job which can lead to ID theft.
REMEMBER -- THERE IS *NO* JOB.

I had stopped looking for jobs on Craigslist a while ago because I kept getting phishing replies under the guise of a possible employment opportunity.  I decided I would give it a try again, and only applied to two ads.  One actually contacted me about the posting, and guess what?  I received the same text (except for an executive secretary) that you all received!  I was immediately suspicious and replied to the sender asking them to confirm the date they received my resume to validate the request to call them.  Never got a reply!
I went back to look for the listing on Craigslist so I could flag it as a scam and it was gone!
Why do people insist on preying on people who are so vulnerable?  We already are unemployed?  Is stealing our personal information really worth it?
I think Craigslist should begin charging something, even if it's just a dollar or two, to make sure real people are making the posts.

Hi _____, I just received your application for the Front Receptionist position you applied for. Please call me at 888-240-0922.

When I called and inquired about it, it sounded like a recording, but knew who I was...
When asked about which position she told me that they couldn't give me the business name and that it would take 25 min to go through everything they needed. Why would it take 25 min when you already have your resume/application in there hands?
Will post to craigslist and warn others about this TRICK.

I just got the same message. I did apply for a position as well, not as a teacher's aide but it fell underneath that field. Anyways, I searched it first because what kind of school or professional period sends a text message about a job? Telling ME to call them?! Thank goodness I came here first, to see that others are in the same situation.

The individual at the aforementioned number contacted me twice about a Teacher's Aide position.  The message was as follows:  I reviewed your application for the Teacher's Aide position you applied for.  Please call me at 888-240-0922.  I sort of figured that contacting me twice about a position, the employer must be really interested in my qualifications.  However, when I inquired about what school it was for, they couldn't tell me and they were quickly trying to keep me from asking more questions.

They stated that they would email me an application and that I was to fill it out and submit the information to the employer via email.  Why fill out an application before talking with me about the position.  The school would have contacted me and not an individual who happens to be working from home.  They wanted to know about my educational background and I disseminated that information, but I did not give out any pertinent data regarding birth dates, credit card information or social security number.  They contacted me via text messaging me only. Don't be fooled, they could ask me questions, but I couldn't ask them.  What's wrong with that picture?  Sharing information should be bi-directional.

Hi Jocke. I just reviewed your application for the HR assistant position you applied for. Please call me at 888-240-0922

Who are these people? I guess I'm not the only one getting pretty much the same message.
I texted them back and said that I've applied to many positions similar to the one you're referring to. So far no answer even though I get a confirmation that they received my text.
