Christine Walker, and Johnathan Davis are the names I heard on the voice mail. Christine Walker ended up speaking with my wife, and berated her aggressively because she would not give any of my personal information. Then began to threaten her with legal action and told her she was responsible for whatever debt she was calling in regards to. I could hear the woman yelling at my wife from the other room. Please be careful when calling this number, these people are pure con artist and will try any scare tactic to get you to give them any personal information or money.

Unfortunately, my wife and I just fell for the same scam. After doing some research I found this and other sites that reflected this one. Mathew Holland said he was with the consumer protection division of Louisiana, so I made a call to the consumer protection division of Louisiana and they are starting an investigation. hopefully this will be the end of these guys.

Report him to your state Attorney General.
Also to the FTC (they are VERY nice)  1-877-382-4357

Give them all the information you have about the call.  Names, addresses, phone numbers.  Don't send them money.  They CANNOT subpoena you out of state or take you to jail.  If they threatened such action, they are lying and broke federal law.  The only way to stop them is to report them.

Call your credit card company immediately and request to dispute the charge.
Also contact your state Attorney General and file a report on this name and number.
Our Attorney General recommended we file a report with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).  They have my report on this man and I was told he violated the law at least 4 times in his conversation to me.

I recieved a call this morning from this "John Hauler" and that was how he spelled his name. But the story he gave me and my mother was very similar except that he said he was from Kentucky... It was also in regaurds to a magazine subscription I had from about 6 years ago. Unfortunately my mother gave in to the demands for a credit card payment over the phone. I actually contacted Morris Protective Services and found out that they are a security guard company. And we found that the credit card charge was actually for $200 and not the 100 that he stated.. Although the transaction seemed to have gone to the magazine company. I am wondering what else we can do to catch this guy and hopefully get our money back...

A "Jonathan Holler" contacted my mother and told her he was an investigator/ attorney for Virginia and that we had defaulted on a loan the both her and my father had co-signed for and we were going to be sued.  She gave him my number but then immediately called me to ask what this could be (we have never signed any loan together).  While we were talking, the supposed Jonathan Holler called me and the whole call was very fishy.  He said that it was about some magazine order that I had cancelled over 6 years ago.  He said the conversation was being taped for court purposes and that he could make all of the fees and court costs go away for $101.25. When I questioned the authenticity of his call he got really defensive and mean.  I told him I needed to call my mother back to get payment information because he said he needed a credit or debit card that day.  He REFUSED to give proof of his identity or a physical address.  When I called her back I told her I thought it was a scam.  She called the local authorities who agreed.  He had bits of all 3 of our SS numbers.  We are currently trying to get this guy tracked but according to our Commonwealth's Attorney, since we couldn't get an address and because we didn't give him our credit card information, he TECHNICALLY didn't break the law.
The number he gave us was 1-888-243-6568  ext. 204  He said the company that was "suing" me was E.P. Publishers.  I hope this will help someone else he tries to scam.
Also see www.800notes.com for similar calls from these numbers.

***Update
We got an address from him
EPS
975 Hertel Ave.
Buffalo, NY 14216

If you look up this address you will find a belongs to Morris Protective Service, Inc.  The company appears to be reputable but perhaps someone in this company is running the scam?  We have updated our report with the authorities.

We managed to get the same address from "Jonathan Holler" this AM when my mother told him my dad wouldn't give her the credit card and asked if we could send a cashier's check.  She also claimed she couldn't remember the amount and he quoted $109.50 to her this morning instead of the $101.25 he quoted yesterday. Idiots.

This address is a valid address for a company called Morris Protective Service Inc.  This company hires out private security guards.  We are now wondering if it is someone inside this company scamming people.
