Someone from this number is currently leaving messages at my ex-husband's phone number in another part of the state.  We have been divorced for 18 years, so why in the hell my ex is getting phone messages for me at his number, I don't know, as my number is listed in the phone book.

My mother keeps getting these call for me I guess...except it's in my maiden name not my current married name.  I haven't called because we just bought a house less than a year ago and everything was fine credit wise but my mother is complaining to me that they keep calling her.  I googled this phone number the message tells me to call and found so much of this info on how it's a scam.  I sort of figured.

I have probley recieved 40 calls from 888-249-1037 in the last 2 months. I am really tired of these people calling me. I have called the number several times to have them to remove my number. Every person i talk to is very rude and talks trash to me. When i comment back, they pass me to another person claiming to be a manager. If i had the address, i would sue the pants off these people.

The number 1-888-249-1037 and 1-905-413-8586 keep calling my cell phone, which is on the do not call list, twice a day, every day. If this doesn't stop, I am going to report both number to the BB.

this number keeps calling me and i and this is my cell number and they call everyday and says to call Ken Hues for an important business matter or to call 888-249-4134

They call me 20 times a day. Even on Sundays.

Have received multiple calls from this number, leaves voicemail with automated name inserted and says they have to tell us "by law" that they are calling to attempt to collect debt - name they ask for is a family member but do not have debt.
Interested in knowing what we can do to stop the calls

Apparently these people just pull phone numbers out of their butts because they're constantly calling my house too. They want Samantha Young in this case. That is my last name, and there was a Samantha living here, but she was a feline and she died 4 years ago. I called them back a few minutes ago and told them they had the wrong number, and to quit calling here or I would file a complaint with the FTC and Attorney General of my state. The lady (who actually spoke plain English, surprise surprise) apologized and said she would remove the number from their system. Yeah, I somehow doubt that.

The TCPA covers unsolicited marketing calls, not debt collectors.

As for their non-stop calls to you, there are several routes you can take in this matter, and I suggest you take them all!  :)

1) file a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission here:

2) File a complaint with your state's attorney general. (You can find your AG's contact information here http://www.naag.org )

3) Send Merchants Credit Guide a letter directing them to cease all communication with you and warning them that you'll gleefully pursue every applicable legal sanction against them if they fail to comply.  Here is their address:

Just be sure to mail it via *certified* US Mail with a return receipt request, and save a copy of your letter.  If they contact you more than once after receiving your cease communication letter, then they are breaking the law and you can lower the boom on them in court for monetary damages.

They call here all the time as well and I keep telling them they have the wrong person and they ARGUE with me.  They'll leave messages where they talk so fast you can't even make out the name of the person or ones that will say "if you are not this person, please hang up/stop listening."  Which I do hang up, yet the calls keep coming in.  At one point, about 15+a day.

I haven't tried stopping this guy yet, but I'm about to.  I receive collection calls on a daily basis for someone who used to have my phone number.  I usually get hung up on when I tell the collections agency that he hasn't had the number for 3 years and that I don't know him.  So now I file a complaints with the Better Business Bureau, as well as filing a complaint with my State Attorny General.  It's starting to work and the agencies are not calling anymore.  Try that, it might work....I am.

I have been getting calls from this number as well. I recently just checked my credit report and have no oubstanding debts and all my bills are current. I have no idea why they keep calling but it is annoying!

I get calls at least 5 times a week.  Pressing 9 does no good. Now, if I'm home when they call I wait to get a live person, (sometimes it just goes dead) and when they say hello I blast them with a whistle I keep by the phone just for them.  Will see how that works, had another false company calling for donations to 3 different items and when I used the whistle on them they quit calling. Try it!!!

morons!  They call and call and call, and if it's not the recorded "we have a n important message for you" then it's some snippety b*tch on the line who refuses to identify myself, unless I identify myself.  It's for someone who does not live here, that moved away more than 10 years ago!!!   I have asked them over, and over again to delete my number, and they say they will, and then don't.  
I filed an FTC report, but figure they'll just keep calling.

This number 1-888-249-1037, keeps calling for a certain person. Want listen to what you try to tell them.

They have been calling us every ****ing day for the past 2 weeks and it's really getting old, especiallt as the person they are trying to contact doesn't exist at this #, which we've had over 25 years.

We're trying to figure out just who to report them to and plan to see if the state attorney general's office can help.

They leave messages asking to speak to (phonetic spelling) "Blaira Blah". Really?! Who is that? Doesn't even sound like my name (or my husbands!).

Finally answered today and it said that if they had the wrong number for this person to push '9'. Guess I'll just have to wait and see if it works or not.

I plan on filing a Small Claim against them for violating th TCPA

I received a recorded message on my voicemail, asking for a person with the same last name.  Calling a residence with a machine is a violation of the Telecommunications Consumer Privacy Act, punishable with a $500 judgment in favor of the consumer ($1500 if proven to be wilful).  They have also violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by giving me this person's name and saying that she is the subject of debt collection activity.  Of course, then you can add in the fact that my number is on the FCC Do Not Call Registry to see the full extent of their disregard for any law or regulation.  If anyone has any information about this company - eg., registered agent for service - I think I will simply file a claim against them (TCPA permits a filing in your local Small Claims court)

Most of the time if I answer this number nobody starts talking. I've filed a formal complaint with the FCC as "abandoned" or "war dialing" calls.

This number calls my home atleast 5 times a week asking for a betty weaver.. I dont know a betty weaver! They have got so now they leave a  message on the machine saying if you are not _____ (betty weaver) please disconnect this call and your number will be deleted. If you continue to listen to this message you acknowledge that you are betty weaver.
I have gotten calls for 6 years from these people! Will it EVER stop??

I have been receiving this phone call for many weeks. I answer the phone and say "hello",no one answers, I say "hello" again, finally the recording starts asking for my husband and saying they are trying to collect a debt. They list the phone number to call regarding it- we've never called. We have no outstanding debt. Very annoying. We are also on the "Do Not Call" list- doesn't seem to help.

We, to, get this call at least 4 times a week. Whoever Ken Hughs is he needs to learn who he wants to "call him back." Our number is listed under my husband and only his first initial comes up. So they only ask for his initial and our last name

I have been getting calls from a woman who says she is calling for a person that I have never heard of.
  This is evidently a recording because when I speak she just keeps talking.

Keep getting these calls. Sometimes they leave messages asking us to call Ken Hughes. Other times they just hang up. If we happen to answer (RARE) there is usually no one on the other end or it's just a recording. VERY annoying. Looked Ken Hughes up online and there is nothing but terrible things written about him and this company, Merchant's Credit.
