I got the same call/offer yesterday, but for $198.00 from a guy named Tom Anderson.  Based on the info on this site, I'm going to give him an earful when he calls back today and am NOT gong to send him any money.

A woman named Peggy Burnham called to offer a plan that would lower credit card interest. She told my wife that she had spoken with me, and I was in agreement and just needed me to agree to their offer.
Well, we paid them $289.00 on March 21,2008 and have not heard anymore from them.  When I call the number I always get an answering machine, and noone ever calls me back.

I also received a call from Peggy Burnham for this same offer and paid them $289.00 on April 30, 2008.  I have yet to received the materials they promised.  They told me it would take 7-10 days to get the materials.  She told me this was an offer through my Discover card to lower my interest rate and that the offer was about to expire.  I questioned them on why they needed my checking account information and why I couldn't pay the fee by cc.  They kept assuring me that they were federally backed and were a recognized company.  I am putting a stop payment on the check because nobody will call me back and I haven't received the materials yet.
